Only old-style anti-tank mines in the metal casing can be detected using a magnetometer. But they are still very "popular". One of the standard use of magnetometers is UXO detection because unexploded ordnance usually contains enough amount of metal.

Location - yes. Exact depth - no (in general depth estimation using magnetometer data is not very accurate). For the depth measurement it is better to use GPR (and for location as well).

Of course, there is no need to use an airborne GPR in all surveys, but on the other hand - a drone flies at a constant speed, quicker than by foot and can reach places where it is not possible or even dangerous to walk, for example - on Greenland's glacier ua-cam.com/video/nGuTqLwmt9Y/v-deo.html or over a water reservoir ua-cam.com/video/x-12rYBfiQ8/v-deo.html.

No. Gold is non-magnetic material, so nuggets (small amount of non-magnetic materials) can't be detected by magnetometers.
