- Talk's Alex Philips reacts to England’s health and social care watchdog being “not fit for purpose” and needing “radical reform”, Health Secretary Wes Streeting has said as he pledged immediate action to restore public confidence.
Mr Streeting was reacting to an independent review into the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that monitors and inspects all health and adult social care providers to ensure safety and quality standards.
It identified “significant internal failings” affecting its ability to identify poor performance at hospitals, care homes and GP practices.
Alex says: "This care regulator might not be fit for purpose"

Not one public sector nor quango are fit for purpose and haven't been for decades.🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷
Alerting care homes that they are due an inspection isn't very helpful. Of course the negative evidence will be spirited away.
Not only spirited away. Care providers can choose which files, service users and staff will be audited. 100% positive feedback at all times.
not really. its a bit like the police warning you of a speed trap, so that you can't claim ignorance and they can demostrate intent..
I work in the care industry. The CQC is a waste of time and money. All they are interested in is the paperwork and ticking the boxes. We are all constantly chasing up the paperwork to make sure the papers are tip top, getting brownies points for pie charts in different colours and having proof of feedback of the feedback (when someone gives us a feedback, we need to give them feedback back on their feedack) and paperwork cocentrating on sexual orientaion or gender. They are not interested in quality of care at all, you can provide a poor quality of care but as long as your paperwork is tip top, youre golden.
There has to be an independent check of some sort. I have seen CQC work . If you leave the NHS to successfully regulate itself then we are all at risk they can’t even get a computer system to work successfully even after spending millions.
How much “ sicker “ can
this Country get
wait to see the Liebour cuts that must come
I recall surgeons saying they used to do 5times more operations than now. Surely that should be looked at and returned to original levels. There are too few beds they need to double or treble to be as high as France and Germany. We have halved our beds in the last 30 years. Despite 10 million immigrants and older people living longer.
Great journalism Alrx
Government caused chaos
Part of the plan
And your Surgeon / Doctor was the day before on the streets shouting for Jihad and river to the sea and Alans Snack Bar.. like the one who has just been told he can carry on working for the NHS
The NHS is a disgrace and their is no point in complaining you simply get ignored ive complained 3 times about the same issues and because ive complained the so called doctor that I've been complaining about has lied to me on 2 occasions that I know about
Im not allowed to be responsible for myself in terms of health care because im not a doctor
my workplace( a home) is due an inspection by CQC. I wonder what they will make of the "materials" stored in a back office that looks like a fire hazard all because the business refused to renovate the office so that we could have proper storage( it was a sleep in room at one point and I believe some sort of storage room before that). there are a number of other issues as well ( I believe linked to attitudes over money- despite receiving quite a generous amount of funding because we do 1 to 1 support)
if starmer wanted to gain popularity then he could have reformed the care sector including the appalling pay( never mind the tories playing a game of 80% of standard pay for people from overseas, let alone excessive importation ( we're on minimum pay),and looked at the ridiculous system has the taxpayers paying eye watering amount resulting in poor value for money .,..... and appalling pay.
it will soon get to a point whereby it would be cheaper( and better value for money) for local authorities( usually in conjunction with a neighbouring LA to build and maintain their own homes
This was stated loudly and clearly many years ago, Browns buddies turning up to look round is a bit like the colonel turning up for a tour of the camp
Probably can't park or afford to
This guy started parking fees in nhs and helped private companies make millions from suffering patients.
Obviously what went wrong was the Tories.
The reason is because it is mainly a female run enterprise
The failings were full backed by the public
Nope. In fact I was called racist for saying we don’t need diversity officers. 🤷🏽♂️
@@user-ug8wx5er1w one wonders how that is racist
🤣😂 - it's either the Migrants fault or DEI
