Half way thru you said Texas ranks 46th out of 50 states for taxes and stated that's not bad. That's actaully horrible if true.
That is true for Property Taxes, but if you look at the States overall tax burden we are actually ranked 13th. Good to look at the full picture, not just one aspect of it.
This extra 3 months proved too much? Losing out on those extra 3 days?
