Guys, I actually regret telling the story the way I did as I can see how it sounds llke I was singling out the American woman. I usually rewatch the video once it’s been edited, but I didn’t as I was exhausted. However that doesn’t excuse me for not being more careful.

I think a lot of us tried to pin down exactly who gave it to us. My wife and I both work in the public school system. We were like "it had to be one of those damn kids!" Lol. Getting it is probably just inevitable to be honest, Shinichi. I'm glad you guys are okay though.
You were probably correct. I was in a restaurant in San Jose California last weekend and a woman sitting near us coughed over and over without covering her mouth. I wanted to smack her! Back in 08 or so I was in an elevator with an elderly Chinese woman in Denver and she kept coughing without covering her mouth in the damn elevator. My wife and i got so sick we thought we were going to die. Humans are stupid.
Brother, you have nothing to apologize for. It’s true! I cannot tell you how many times, hubby and I have literally turned and skedaddled in the other direction, because someone has coughed or sneezed without covering their mouth(s). You did nothing wrong! If hubby were there, he would’ve said something to her. 🤣🤣🤣

In the USA, failure to cover the mouth when coughing is not only considered extremely bad form, it's just plain nasty.
In fact, in certain regions, it's a "Karen" video waiting to happen.

I am so happy that both of you recovered well. When I had Covid at the end of 2020 I ended up going into labor two months early and gave birth to my beautiful baby boy, who was then spirited away from me to London for two and a half weeks. It was a very scary and stressful time. But the experience taught me to be resilient. I wish you both health, happiness and resilience.

Isn’t it crazy, how quickly the positive line will show up, when you’re at the peak of Covid? It was the same for my husband. It was shocking! Like you said, well before a minute was even up.

I just got Covid a few days ago. Although it really sucks to stay in and isolate myself I also realize how much I took granted for health and well being. Without health and well being all money and fame in the world don’t mean anything. I am taking this time to really look at my life and prioritize what are important in my life. Shinichi, I’m glad you are well by now and also had a chance to be grateful at things that you took granted for.

Your precious, loving care and concern for one another was certainly a big help as was, in a smaller way, the support you received from the government. I'm grateful for that. Sorry to hear that. I did too, over a couple weeks ago. I am still sick. I am vaccinated and boosted too so it kept me out of the ICU. The vaccine works keeping you out of the hospital but you can still get it - similar to the flu vaccine.

@@dinosqautch6941 Yes it is. The vaccine teaches your body how to fight the virus. It doesn't totally prevent the disease. That's the difference between dying in ICU and a cold.

I’m so happy to hear that you’re recovering! I discovered your videos in early 2020 while I was planning a first ever trip to Japan where I would have been travelling with a fussy eater. That trip got cancelled but your videos were one of the things that really helped to get me through some bad times and I’ll always be grateful for that

Sleep is so important. No video is worth damaging your health or even just not feeling well from lack of rest. Taking a vacation means not making videos (working) while you're on it lol. I’m so glad you’re both okay! I wish the pre Covid, predominantly Asian culture of wearing masks when you’re sick would take hold everywhere. It just makes sense to be considerate of those around you!
I’m so glad you both are on the upswing from this nastiness. I hope neither of you have any lasting after effects. I discovered so many YT channels at the beginning of the pandemic and your videos are among those that have helped keep me from going stir crazy the last 2 1/2 years (and also taught me soooo much! I told someone the other day that I’ve learned some Japanese recently (mostly food related things! Lol))

So very glad you both have recovered well. I know from experience that COVID is absolutely no joke, I caught it this past April. I was actually shocked to see you eat the pineapple, because my throat hurt so bad that I needed heavy medication as well as anesthetic throat spray just to swallow something like rice! YAY!!! SO SO SO glad that you and Satoshi are ok! Please take it slow as your bodies are still healing. You may have some lingering affects but as long as you are getting better day by day that is what counts. It's a very scary sickness as it is so unpredictable as to how your body will react to it and I'm really glad both of your symptoms weren't severe. Both you and Satoshi really do bring so much joy to us all. I can personally say that your videos have kept me going, especially with the hope of being able to visit Japan one day, envisioning all the beautiful places I hope to go and all the yummy things I hope to eat. Coming to this video because I GOT my first covid. probably...I called the hospital and they told me to do the pharmacy test first, or I could WAIT to next week to do the test at hospital , great. And your video gave so much intel about the process, I was bit scare at the beginning, but now watching your experience I might be able to deal with calm. Thanks for sharing your experience

That lady at the hotel was rude and inconsiderate. To think that she represented Americans in another country. We deal with a lot of that here in the States, too, although I have met the most courteous and nicer people here in Scottsdale, AZ. Can you believe it?! I really miss the respectfulness and kindness of the Japanese people. I will be in Okinawa in October for the Uchinanchu Taikai and I can't wait.

When I'm feverish I like Frosted Flakes. It's sweet, easy to eat, and the cold milk (or oat milk) feels nice. It's too sweet in normal times.

It's very brave of you to share your experience like this. I admire the sincerity and frankness. I also caught Covid in July, but just when I thought the symptoms were gone, I started coughing again. The long Covid period was in some ways more disturbing than the first few weeks of initial recovery. The virus stays in your lungs like a sticky super glue that refuses to go away. At times I thought I was suffocating. Please take care of yourself and be aware that it may not be over yet.
Oh my god!! I am so happy you both doing better. I tested positive on July 14th and still am having breathing problems. Be careful and take it easy!!!!

I'm so glad you and Satoshi are feeling better. I'm sorry that you caught it from some thoughtless arrogant American. I too finally fell victim to COVID a couple months ago. I caught it from my sister who I had only been in the same house as for about 40 minutes and in the same room for maybe 15 minutes. It is shocking how easy to catch Omicron is. It sounds like your symptoms were more severe than what I had so I'm happy you're getting better.
Also, you should feel very fortunate how much support you received from the Japanese government. In the US we hardly even had contract tracing let alone a system in place to help people with food for those who couldn't go out.
So sorry you were ill and hope you have a very full recovery . Always you out and about on your walking tours , you always so much wonderful information were ever you go and appreciate your insights . Take beautiful men 🌈

I have been checking your channel with concern, so I am very glad to see and hear from you again! So glad to hear you two are recovered/recovering.
I am also one of those people who always got the flu and colds and it was never easy. It was always a month or all winter of colds and flus and sometimes pneumonia. So actually I enjoy the mask and distancing culture. The last few winters, I only had slight sinusitis and no colds or flus thank goodness.
Mom and I are glad that both you and Satoshi are feeling better and we wish you both continued health and healing. ❤💙❤

Watching this while recovering from covid as well, it finally got to me. I can relate with what you said Shinichi, these last few weeks have been hectic and there was just no time to slow down and take things easy. Now with covid, am forced to rest up so kinda a good thing (or at least a good timing). Luckily no real symptoms besides a bit of an itch in my throat and becoming sleepy more easily.
Shinichi, I am glad you guys both recovered well. At this point, people can be careful and do everything right and then, be around someone careless and not caring about others who coughs all over the place 🤮. Stay well!! and always take it easy and not put strain on yourselves (if possible 🤔).

Shinichi, I'm so sorry you got this. I got mine the exact same way except I was at Starbucks and an older couple sat right next to me and kept coughing and coughing without covering their mouth at all. They looked like they were in their late 60's. Old enough to know better. I was at my worst for 5 days but had lingering cough for 3 more weeks. I'm glad you both are ok and am looking forward to future videos.
