So glad this video was recommended to me, I've seen like hardly any videos talking about MyGo in depth. I was shocked by how well written MyGo was, and while I love Bandori, I was honestly shocked to see such amazing character writing and development happen in this series. Definitely one of the best shows to come out in 2023.
1:41 - There is actually another layer to those two scenes: Who felt lost and who didn’t. In episode 5, Taki expressed why she is so supportive of Tomori and felt certain about making that choice, especially after having a chance to reconcile with Tomori in episode 4. Meanwhile, Soyo, despite her attempts to control the situation around her, was steadily feeling more lost. By that point, Mutsumi was still attending Tsukinomori with her, she knew where Taki works, she found out where Tomori & Sakiko attend school and managed to form a band with Anon that didn’t have a name yet. She had all the pieces reassembled but couldn’t put them together, either because those pieces didn’t want any part of it or a stray cat would disrupt the building process. In episode 10, the reason Taki ended up in Soyo’s position is because the events after episode 5 made her realize how lost she actually was. Struggling to match-up to Sakiko with composing music, failing to bring Soyo back after Tomori felt upset and then forcing Tomori to choose and thus, inadvertently regret being part of a band all over again. To paraphrase what she told Tomori, she thought she knew what Tomori wanted, but in the end she just wasn’t thinking. The choice of lighting actually makes more sense when you think about Tomori’s name. 4:22 - This is a good example of how that compliments Tomori’s name. Taka (高) = tall Matsu (松) = pine tree Tomori (燈) = lamp Having spent the past 2-1/2 years seriously learning Japanese, I’ve come to realize how much names say something about characters in not just It’s My Go, but in many Japanese fictional works. One more thing I’ll add is that I’ve been trying to pay mine to certain names that have worked on the show. Other than a couple of confirmations on which animators worked on what on Twitter/X, the following are especially noteworthy. -Koudai Kakimoto (柿本広大) has been the director of the Bang Dream series since season 2 with one exception and Satoki Iida (飯田里樹) has been the sound director, who was also involved in the anime Kaki,too-San directed before Bang Dream, Katana Maidens: Toni no Miko. However, for It’s My GO, Kakimoto-san took the helm as both series director & sound director. -Mari Inoue (井上麻梨) was credited as the director of photography (the lead compsitor) the Bang Dream series since season 2, but for It’s My GO, Daisuke Okumura (奥村大輔) was the director of photography. Since I only started getting into the both the games and the anime since this Spring, I didn’t realize it until recently, but Haneoka academy for instance felt more muted & tinted with its colors in It’s My GO compared to prior seasons, which felt more bold & saturated. -Finally, there’s Tomori Umetsu. This woman… this absurdly talented woman, she’s from Sangizen’s editing department, Editz and she was the one that storyboarded episodes 2, 7 & 10 of It’s My GO. Umetsu-san was also the director of Morfonication, and directed & storyboarded all the opening themes for Bang Dream since season 2, including It’s My GO, the openings for D4DJ first Mix & All Mix and the opening for Argonavis. So the claustrophobic, disconnected scene in the waiting room in episode 7 and the parallels between that and episode 10 (although the live performance scenes may or may not be credited by someone else, I have to check), that’s all her.
A wonderful analysis… you caught some things I missed even as I’ve rewatched the series too many times to count. MyGO is such an astounding show that continues to impress. PS… nice use of the bandori BGMS. Loved hearing Returns in the beginning of the video
10:37 in almost all of the promotional artworks for the anime, Tomori appears in the middle and Soyo appears in the far left. This would corelate with the fact that the rock in the far left is the last one Tomori puts in there, just how Soyo was the last one to fully accept the idea of going along with Mygo. The order in the promotional artworks usually is like this: Soyo Taki Tomori Rana Anon
Amazing analogy and I'm really glad that this many symbolisms in the show are being noticed. This video deserves more attention just as how the whole BanG Dream franchise deserves more recognition.
Incredible! CHAIR! Now that I think about it, the CRYCHIC members definitely didn't sit with Soyo. I realized a lot when I saw the 2 empty chairs from the past flashback in the video. Soyo is a character I really like, but I struggled to read much into her dialog and actions only. I'm surprised they used this kind of symbolism. Thanks for the good analysis.
Of all the anime I've watched, I was not expecting to cry when watching Mygo Tomoris spoken performances especially hit me way harder than I ever could've expected
This video was a pleasant surprise. Love the editing, structure, pacing and overall analysis of your vid. I love Mygo and your vid really just makes me love it that much. Thank you for allowing me to see things that I didn't before. Mygo is truly an underrated gem. Your vid deserves much more views!
Last October 12 and 13 at Ayala Malls TriNoma in Manila Philippines for the Bushiroad EXPO 2024, I was fortunate to meet one of the members of the real-life Japanese all-female rock band called MyGO!!!!! the band's rhythm guitarist and the seiyuu for Chihaya Anon from BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! the lovely Tateishi Rin-chan in the autograph sessions at the event and the crazy part is the autograph sessions are limited to 30 people and are won via lottery kinda of like a gacha that you have to get a number from 1- 30, the fact that I've got a slot for both days is just pure luck, and it still feel so surreal that I didn't just beat the odds but I also managed to meet her in person both days and I swear I just can't explain how beautiful and radiant she is and probably one of the nicest people I've ever met, she's so nice, friendly, and she really is such a sweetheart and I swear once I finally moved to Japan, MyGO!!!!! will be one of those bands that I will going to watch perform live.
Great video! I liked your insight, Raana's inserts, and the editing. MyGO's character writing and acting are of course fantastic, but it may go overlooked how key the cinematography and direction is to MyGO's unparalleled quality.
amazing amazing analysis! the raana pop ups are cute and fun, and the video is overall very well edited. you can barely tell the corkboard at the end wasn't in the original scene! lol i do want to add something about the dutch angle at 9:26 - it isn't your average dutch shot and completely turns the world upside down reflected on the piano, which conveys that something is very, very wrong. and that is _exactly_ the case with sakiko. she reflects her awry emotions with the piano as she plays, literally and metaphorically. there's that "pesky" barrier again, creating a line from herself and the real world, implying that the "self" she projects to the world is not the true person she is. it also creates a parallel between soyo and sakiko , both of whom have shots that symbolically create a barrier between them and another subject. and funny enough, the very person sakiko is thinking and reminiscing about in that scene is none other than soyo (since anon had just told her moments before that soyo joined her band). it could've been interpreted as just missing her and crychic in general, but with the use of the dutch angle, it implies much much more. again, loved your analysis! would love to see more videos on mygo and ave mujica when it comes out :^)
I'm saving this video for when I finish Mygo but band/music anime have been my favorite recently I'd love to pick up a guitar and learn but I can't buy one right now so that's kinda sad I'll have one eventually though so that's something to look forward to ig
I am fan of Popipa, but after this anime, I converted to MyGo. Then again, can anyone tell me, why Sakiko disbands Crychic without any explanation, and why she so hateful to Tomori or any of the Ex- crychic members? It's kinda like to me that Bushiroad purposely didn't explain this in MyGo anime *because* they wanted you to go watch Ave Mujica. I don't really care what's going on with Sakiko's family, but just I want to know what drives her that way. Like I still found it irresponsible to disband like that and make a new band what I'd like to call copy paste Roselia (please dont attack me as this is just my opinion, I have listen to their music and a lot of people gave positive comments in there so this is definitely me and only me 😂). The way I see last episode where Ave Mujica debuts is that it kinda looked like they just want to make money for some kind of revenge for Sakiko, that's kinda like the vibe I see from her the moment she said tadaima kuso oyaji. Either way, I still wanna know, what drives her to disband Crychic and what drives her becomes that bad of a person.
Hi i am a viewer from China. in chinese forum this question is also discussed a lot. this is what we think: there are 4 pieces of puzzle in the mystery of sakiko disbands crychic. 1. why can't sakiko play band? 2. Why can't she tells the truth to her friends in crychic? 3. why she goes to the normal school instead of elite school? 4. why she needs the member of mujica to "carry life into mujica"? Our answer is that sakiko and musumi are originally sisters with different parent. 1. remember soyo took a picture and posted on social media? that many find out the relationship between sakiko and misumi, and their parents wants to hide it (scandal reasons maybe). so they forced the two not to appear in the same place, and even forced sakiko's dad leave the big house. this also explains in ep13 sakiko and father live in poor little room. (many evidences but too much to wirte them all here so just say the result) 2. because of (1), sakiko can't tell these to teammates. remember ep1 when they disbands, not only sakiko, but you can see misumi also expressed a negative feeling of crychic by "I don't feel happy at all". they both know what happened and they disbands crychic. that's the agreement they made at home. (In fact misumi knows the news first. In ep3 after their first live, only misumi wasnt smiling) 3. scandal reason sakikos dad forced out of big house and with no money, so sakiko can't afford elite school also she needs to work. It;s also a way to seperate sakiko and misumi. remember ep4 when misumi come to normal school to find sakiko, sakiko said "it's too obvious", which means she thinks misumi shouldnt come to find her that its too obvious that others can find out they are sisters. 4. Ave Mujica is rebel to sakiko and misumi's family. In case they are not recognized, they put on masks. rememer the image of "dolls"? that's a very interested part as it could symbolize both sakiko and misumi as dolls with no thinking to their family so they need to prove it to family by forming ave mujica and debut as quick as they can. these are just a short piece of our discussion. we can discuss more on this if u r interested.
@@LeoYang-d9e Damn, that was incredible answer. I am impressed not gonna lie. And most of your points are really on point. Thank you so much for such detailed explanation man, I really appreciate it 👏😭
For those who don't know BanG Dream! has 7 real-life bands so far they are Poppin'Party, Roselia, RAISE A SUILEN, Morfonica, MyGO!!!!!, Ave Mujica and Mugendai Myu-Type the seiyuus who voice the characters are really skilled musicians and they are the ones who play their own instruments during live concerts unlike in Bocchi the Rock where they don't even bother to hire seiyuus who are actual musicians that could play the instruments of the characters that they are voicing since it's story is just tailor-made to adapt the manga. BanG Dream! on the other hand has been around since 2015 and the first ever band in the franchise is Poppin'Party they were formed in 2015 followed by Roselia in 2016 and RAISE A SUILEN was formed in 2017 around the same time when the 1st season of BanG Dream! aired. RAISE A SUILEN actually started as a backing band for Anime and game-only bands like Pastel Palettes, Afterglow, and Hello Happy World. RAISE A SUILEN was introduced in the 2nd season of BanG Dream! in 2019, Morfonica was formed in 2020, MyGO!!!!! was formed in 2021 but they were just introduced in April of 2022 and Ave Mujica was formed last year but was just introduced early this year and both MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica are in the same series called BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica will be having their series called BanG Dream! Ave Mujica which will air most likely in early to mid 2024.

The story with the chairs and Soyo reminded me of her last card she got in the game, there are 2 empty chairs in the trained version 😭
