    Finding this progression has made my day. I am a 65 year old beginner keyboard player with sever arthritis but I can kind of play this to a point and I love this kind of sound. Thank you very much for your wonderful lesson!

      Oh, may I ask the beautiful piano sounds you are getting from the arturia? Thank you and could you do more PIANO chord progressions like this and what scales?

      This video was an outlier, I have a guitar UA-cam channel. The sound I was using is ''Alicia's Keys'' virtual instrument by Native Instruments.

    Nice chords. I really ought to learn piano to at least intermediate level, it's such a good instrument for songwriting.

      Chris Edwards It really is. It helps to visualize the chords better than on guitar, I find!

    Your videos actually made me a better composer and effect-nerd. After watching your videos I wrote better progressions, melodies and I played better drones, and soundscapes. In one expression, you're the best musical teacher I ever had :)

    Now I know how Massive Attack came up with "Teardrops". Thanks for the tip, this indeed sounds epic!

    Thanks, this was very useful.
    My music production usually starts with some melody that comes into my mind while jogging. I whistle it into my mp3 player and then I collect those ideas in my Todo folder...
    and, unfortunately, the ideas stay there untouched for years.
    The reason is - I'm afraid to screw it up because of chords and song structure. Most of my attempts turn out boring repetitions of the same pattern OR have a typical verse-chorus style which feels like a song without lyrics, and I don't want that. I struggle to make a complete musical piece out of my melodic ideas :( It would be really great to have tutorials on variation - how to expand upon a simple melodic idea to add chords, variations in instruments and patters to make it feel like a complete, integrated, engaging composition.

    To me 'borrowed' chords is where I just hit random groups of notes until I find something interesting that feels like it fits.

    definitely my kind of teacher...but you don't seem have any piano courses on your site?

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  5 років тому +5

      Not yet! I want to make a course in the future that will be called ''Keyboards Basics for Guitar Players''. Having transitioned myself from guitar to keyboards at a professional level, I think it will be interesting to offer a completely new approach to learning piano for guitar players. Especially cutting everything that's unnecessary and go right to the meat (I had only 2 months to learn keyboards before my first gig in front of 2000 people). Stay tuned. I might start to work on it in 2019.

    How did you choose the model to borrow chords? Just taste or there is some rules?

  • @kevincowart362
    @kevincowart362 2 роки тому

    So basiclly playing out of key is more interesting then all the scales and progressions we are told is so important to memorize.

    Very cool ideas. Though Antoine the chord in 3:15 is definetely not the B flat Major. This sounds more like the C 7th and 9th chord

    Unfortunately, I'm disappointed. I would like to try to write ambient electronica but this doesn't help me except to say that you can start something with just two notes.
