  • Los Angeles, May 15, 2024: A comprehensive cleanup of a homeless encampment was conducted at Washington Boulevard and also on Marr Street in Venice, as part of a coordinated effort by multiple city agencies. The operation involved the LAPD, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and the office of Councilwoman Traci Parks' Housing Coordinator.
The presence of LAPD officers ensured the cleanup proceeded without disruptions, maintaining safety throughout the operation. Team members, equipped with protective gear, efficiently sorted and safely disposed of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, with support from Public Works and Clean Harbors.
The initiative is a key component of the City of Los Angeles' strategy to address the complex issue of homelessness while also enhancing public health. LAHSA's contribution of food, water, and hygiene kits provided necessary support to those affected by the cleanup, underscoring the city's commitment to compassionate and humane treatment.
Under the leadership of Councilwoman Traci Parks, these efforts are part of a broader citywide plan aimed at improving cleanliness, safety, and addressing the root causes of homelessness, highlighting her pivotal role in promoting effective and empathetic solutions to urban challenges.

Instead of staring at her like an animal in the zoo, someone (HSA) should be saying, Hey do you want a Gatorade? Did you eat today? Here's some water for your puppy. Where will you go now?
Sit in your cozy apartment and color your hair, another job well done.

I was recently accosted by a homeless/potential substance abuser in MY small town.
I refused to give him money, he started telling me "blah blah blah", I kept staring at him & he chased me into a burger king. He kept threatening to assault me & faked a punch. He was upset I didn't flinch.
It went on like that for a few minutes until the Mexican ladies working there said they called the cops.
He left, I did wait until he was at a distance & apologized to the employees for dragging that mess in there, then I left.
At least that encounter got the adrenaline flowing, lol
What a mess, the state of our world!

I'm not going to feed him or coddle his hurt feelings. I refused to give him money & he became hostile.
No offense, but you can't tell me what to do, & neither could he.

Most beggars have more money than the people who give them their last dollar. Just donate to your local animal shelter, if not money, they can always use dog food, pet toys, or towels/blankets, some shelters also use volunteers to walk and get the animals ready for adoption.

A lot of the time they are waiting for them to pack up their belongings and move along. I do feel sorry for the elderly and pets in this situation. Too many young able bodied people living in the streets. I have worked all my life starting at fourteen.

What a waste of money to bring in a whole army of people to do a small cleanup. 2 working and 10 with cell phones texting and standing around. Why do taxpayers put up with this. Lazy people.

If you are bankrupt, don't have a job, what's worse is that you become an alcoholic and drug addict and end up suffering from mental illness, crazy and insane, ultimately you become homeless. No one wants to employ alcoholics, drug addicts, and mentally ill people who are crazy and insane. And these people will disturb their own family, until their family gives up and runs away to move to another city to be safe and not be disturbed. And in the end they will disturb people who have normal lives, because they need money to satisfy their addiction. It is the obligation and duty of local governments, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, the judiciary and people's representatives to immediately separate alcoholics, drug addicts, mentally ill, crazy and insane from normal people who work and pay taxes. If it is not enforced, the impact will be that a previously normal society will become a society of alcoholics, drug addicts and finally mentally ill people who are crazy and insane. This is reality, not an illusion, not a hallucination, because life is a choice, a choice to be an addict or not, a choice to be a worker or unemployed, diligent or lazy, etc.
