I look at it as a challenge to make someone play Aerith properly, personally. Most people button mash her. So even though challenging the mini-game has purpose and you do indeed have to 'get good'. Kind of genius really.
For anyone struggling with Yuffie #3: the key are magic up, speed up, and mag up materia linked with level boost materia. Hermes shoes are also essential. Stagger ATB doesn't seem to help too much. The key moves are using blindside (to both hit the gladituars/pugilists and to recover immediately from getting hit to prevent chain bombing) and banishment (even if it's just at level 1). Hitting the corneo cactuars (especially as soon as the spawn or immediately after affinity shifts) is essential for whittling them down, as these guys can throw you off with their partially homing ground hadoukens. Always keep Doppleganger up and use the small mobs to build the ATB to recast it. When dealing with the mixed phase (500 magic or physical cactuar with 100 of the opposite variants): 1. 500 Physical + 100 magic: use your ninjutsu to build ATB, then Blindside the big one. You can consider waiting for him to faceplant first, using only one of the ATBs to cast banishment to thin out the annoying sources of bombs. (Doppleganger essential for efficiency) 2. 500 magic + 100 physical: use ninjutsu or regular attacks on any, but blindside the physical guys as soon as possible to build up big charges for your Banishment. Hit the 500 guy with a Banishment as soon as you get level 2 (Doppleganger essential for efficiency) For the 500 gold guy, build ATB with the small mooks. But of all her Yuffie's abilities, it's Art of War that seems to be the most consistent damaging move against it. Try to get Supreme Art of War (Make sure your doppleganger is up in the previous wave before it). For the final wave, ideally you'd have at least 1 ATB Bar. If you have 2, you can immediately nuke 1 of the puglists with blindside. But if you have only one, there's a very slight delay in which the corneo variants will swap into magic mode, making the (visually) predominant cactuars on the field susceptible to magic. Granted you had Doppleganger going from before, a Windstorm should whittle them significantly. Do NOT force casting it twice as the bombs will be raining like halloween candy after the first cast. Alternate between Banishment and Blindside (Windstorm if you're holding the shuriken and you're in a good location). N.B. About Windstorm: Something from Intergrade that still is true today - If shuriken in hand = mostly magical; if shuriken tossed = mostly physical damage. I love this game but by Bahamut, to quote a comment section from a Glide de Chocobo video: "whoever was supposed to play test these mini games absolutely did NOT show up to work on that day."
Thanks for the detailed guide. I can't seem to do enough dps to the Magitaurs and Corneo-tars. Maybe I'm underleveled? I was able to get the Aerith hard mode ones done but the highest I've been able to get with Yuffie is 4500 points, level 48. My mag-up etc. materia is level three. I have the game difficulty set to easy. I've been using what you suggested, doppelganger, windstorm, art of war, and blindside, but they just aren't doing much damage. Shuriken needs to be thrown for magic damage against the orange guys, in-hand for physical against the green, not sure wtf else I am missing here.

I threw a luck up level 4 on there as well because I don't know if luck affects crit rate or not. Using the Crescent Sickle, Hermes shoes, Yggdrasil Armlet. I use Banishment on the big Cacti. But the orange cacti and the Corneos are taking me way to long to kill, so I know I am screwing something up. I also did some digging and other people have mentioned being at level 70 didn't help. So there is a strategy,/order of operations that I am no getting from watching the vid. Wish there was something I could find with voiceover so they could explain what ability to use when.

They kinda run towards you around the corner and you can quickly gather them up there, if there are many around you windstorm might be better, but it is similar to blindside. You can double triangle to leap forward to save time. And get an aoe quicker. I think it's good to get a wind aoe quick before they scatter even if its green, just to get them clumped up. Then When you see just green left, go art of war. I think war boost your next move aswell. So might be good to weave in here and there. Honestly I just spam things very quick.
The fact that it's been easier for me to do this challenges with Aerith than with Yuffie. For some reason Cactuars with her are crazy strong with their spamming at stage 3, making me lose a whole lot of points and time. This game's completion requirements are absolutely insane, I hope they make things a tiny bit easier in the last one, because Rebirth has no business being this hard to platinum.
@@shizochaos Yeah, I haven't tried it yet, but that and the Hard playthrough will probably stop me from getting this platinum. The fact that the main game is even harder than the Remake and they felt the need to add those Chadley challenges is just nuts, I really don't know what they were thinking.

I was just really eager for this game's release and to getting its platinum, that's why I feel so frustrated with its difficulty, especially with the Hard Combat Simulations. I'll wait for a nerf or for a more optimal strategy because I know for a fact I won't be spending more than 45 minutes with some of those challenges only to fail them 😅

Totally agree with the other players myself, i've been spending the last 50 hours essentially playing mid to bad minigames and doing vr simulations and it's super tedious
Wonderful guide. I did every stage first try with this build. I did have max materia and was level 70 so that helped tremendously for anyone who's struggling.

I actually “beat” level 3 on my first try… with a score of 5980. I cannot for the life of me understand how someone thought it was a good idea, in a game without I-frames, to take points away from you every time you get hit when it’s all too possible to get bounced around like a beachball from one attack to another. It’s enough of a punishment to lose the 10 seconds it takes them to stand up every time, ffs

No one should torture themselves for 100% a game, do it for games which are truly rewarding and it's clear that SE intentionally designed the game to be this hard to platinum coz many people felt remake was easy. But they forgot how to balance the game. Ff7 Rebirth definitely has a very rough experience even if you're not looking to Platinum I gave up on my platinum dream the moment I saw hard mode for fort Condor I've decided to just blaze through the game, finish it and forget that this game ever existed
To anyone asking, you CAN get transcendence on normal. I got it in chapter 12. If you do the side quests and mini games you’ll get enough party exp to unlock it. You’ll have to get rid of some nodes on the board to reach it, but I got everyone’s lvl 3 limit breaks in chapter 12 on normal. Just fyi 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Thanks for this guide. This was one of the harder mini games for me. I am still really worried about the piano songs, Sephiroth's 3D Brawler match, and the crunches. I am currently at 79/88 for Johnny's collectables. Wish me luck!
It's crazy how from normal to hard mode the dynamic of the characters shifts. Like it gets easier with Aerith and damn near impossible with Yuffie. Who ever designed the hard mode for these mini games needs to be fired I swear.
with aerith it was little bit easier when i noticed that i can actually use shadow ward and luminious ward dodge stuff by just pressing it since it has small animation frame where you cant get any damage durring the animation
Man I'm only at level 46 and this is just impossible. Yuffie #3 is just horrid. I've come to the conclusion that grinding till level 70 to save on the pain, which I'll need to do for my hard mode run anyway, will be my best bet with some of these minigames. They're just killing my momentum with what should be such an incredible game. I'm certain whoever came up with these minigames must have been half way through divorce proceedings cause they're so jarringly bad.
Did it on level 48 with the same setup as aerith took 4/5 tries its not that hard just learn to dodge and combine abilities in the right time and you can do crazy explosions.
Breezed yuffie at 47 without a single point in her folio. Windstorm was OP and the art of war and supreme just melted thr big guys with doppelganger. She was very easy but I'm struggling with the final aerith atm
I used it. Cleared all the hard variants on Dynamic at level 47. Dopple helped lots, didn't even need to min/max materia just went in and tried 4-5 times👌
The fastest way to destroy the Orange Cactrot in Yuffie's stage is to use Windstorm while holding Shuriken,for the big one use Doppelganger and Art of War.
I'm sooo close to Party Level 10 but these Hard Modes. I always fall like 300 Pts short... Edit: DONE only Brutal and Legendary missing now. No more mini games!
Just fkn one mini game after a fkn nother. This is getting ridiculous. It is no longer fun to platinum let alone finish this game. I have never been so burnt out from a game. I need a holiday.
Using doppleganger/windstorm with yuffie and using the i-frames when summoning dark/light wards & soul drain on big cactuar with aerith are the best pointers that i can give. Good luck gamers. It's possible!
I had a fairly easy time with Yuffie- I kept doppelganger up- windstorm for big groups- art of war does big and quick damage to the big guys once they fall down...also great on the Cacneos which seem to have a higher defense- lil bit of dodging and GG. Aerith can suck a butt...glad your'e dead....still progging XD I was able to get it two hrs later!!!! jeeeeeze man. that was my final bit of party exp- devs this is diabolical! now to go make 4 save files. Godspeed.
Juffie: Unfriendly Competition. After 4 days of tries I did it... 6140! The key was Doppelganger. Must equip Bird of prey weapon then you can use Doppelganger which copies Juffie and she is kinda double. Equip also Cetran Armlet and important Speed Demon Keychain. Other mega important thing is ability Blindside (use it quick when you are hit and you fly) it gives great damage. Of course almost as much possible use Windstorm. Gold big Cactuar use Banishment 3.
I literally had only 2 pugilist cactuar left and had 5820 points, just barely avoided a barrage of blasts to deliver an art of war that took them both out and finished with 6020. One hit and i would have failed. That was Yuffie number 3, by far the hardest one of the bunch. Aerith's were easier than Yuffie's for me for some reason. Being able to switch between light and dark on the fly, trancedence dealing three times as much as Yuffie's bannishment. The list goes on, Aerith may be slow but she is more efficient in my opinion. Best of luck guys, plenty of good tips in the comments. Trancendence is a godsend for hard mode Aerith cactuar crush, just make sure you are always charging it up by using it after each big cactuar. Soul Drain or whatever is a good secondary to help finish them off. yuffie is a pain in the ass and gets bounced around the arena constantly. Just gotta spam windstorm and use banishment on the big guys followed by art of war and supreme art of war. oh, also a huge tip would be not to forget snow flurry, it one shots the magical cactuar, so when you have tons of little orange cactuar worth 100 points, guys that windstorm is not touching, use snow flurry and it can sometimes kill 2 or 3 magic cactuar in one cast. Once i started using it i beat Yuffie 3 on my first try.
This is easily the worst minigame of them all and I can say I hate majority of them. This is my last one aside from piano. Great game but I hope they stop with this nonsense in part 3
The Insomniac Spiderman games have the best trophies/achievements. None of the extra challenges were that hard and some had accessibility controls you could use. For most of these, especially the sit ups, i feel like they could have a story mode option. It's just dumb. Why on earth have Cait Sith throw boxes with janky controls and fight alone.
What I have found is physical attacks no longer harm the green cactuar much and throwing the weapon no longer harms the orange ones much. The small orange ones are harder to take down than the large ones by far. Nothing seems to work on them.
Normally i really enjoy your guides, but fuck man, you are entirely too vague on this one. What abilites are you using, whats the strategy? You have so kuch going on and watching the video does zero for me except make me ask more questions. I finally finished the Aerith fights, but im exhausted from these mini games, and i have no idea what half the moves on yuffie are that youre using.
@KingdomKeyJT yeah he shows it, but the options on screen in battle are too fast. I already finished this, but the video for once, didn't help. Just because you see the materia and build, doesn't show you the strategy behind it. It would be like seeing the screen shot of a finished queens blood match. You see the cards, but you don't know how it was played
Seems like you pretty much need the Purification skill to beat Yuffie's 2nd challenge. The Aerith ones got a lot more doable once charge up lvl2 Transcendence for the later gold gigantuar
You say hit the enemies with melee but I can be RIGHT IN FRONT of an enemy and Aerith will continue to spam magic half the time. Is there something I'm missing?

I am confused, you unlocked Aerith’s Transcendence ability when doing hard mode but I don’t have it unlocked because my party lvl isn’t maxed. Did you get by it without the ability?
You don’t have to max out party or hard mode for transcendence. I got it in chapter 12 on my normal play through. Got rid of some old nodes to make my way to lvl 3 limit breaks for everyone. Might just need to do more side quests or something for more party exp 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I tried 5 times and sorcerous storm does now kill the three starting cactuar for me… not sure what he’s doing that I’m not, aside from not being lvl 70?
when fighting the big cactaurs, use aeriths trancendence ability *1st cast it asap for it to charge* then when he does his body slam, use it again, it will damage him much quicker*
The problem I'm having is I can only do 2 out of 4. Ove the protocol relic. And it's literally the only thing I'm missing in this region. The first trial. with Yufi if you just switch her Ninjitsu abilities. It's in her Abilities You can change your base element to wind fier Ice and lightning. The problem I'm having is. I can't get the other 2 trials to unlock. With the goblin that runs The trial He said that he would contact me when The other 2 are ready. And I'm in cosmo Canyon and I'm like. Is this ever going to trigger? So I thought maybe I did something wrong. Because I've Already 100% The next region and I'm on the region after that. And still no word of the kactour trial.

No, the weapon in chapter 13 is Gambanteinn which has the ability Noble Sacrifice. Neither is transcendence the ability of any other weapon. @@CanOfDarkFruit
They over did it with the trash mini games in this game, I have platinum’d and 100% achievemented every ff game two to three times depending on stacks, yet this game has made me lose all ambition. Maybe I’ll come back to it later.
Can I ask strategy for game 3rd one? 1) For magic 100: Throw (no weapon in the hand) -> windstorm, 2) For physical 100: Do not throw -> Art of War 3) For 500 points gold, what do I need to do? Am I understood properly for 1) and 2)? And can someone let me know whether 3) is right approach?
Why does SE make such crap mini games , there is no skill involved in many of them besides stupid rng as in will your wind storm crit will it hit well and so on. SE should really fuc*ken play their own games before selling them

I actually “beat” level 3 on my first try… with a score of 5980. I cannot for the life of me understand how someone thought it was a good idea, in a game without I-frames, to take points away from you every time you get hit when it’s all too possible to get bounced around like a beachball from one attack to another. It’s enough of a punishment to lose the 10 seconds it takes them to stand up every time, ffs

I'll never understand how Square Enix can make such a great story with fun combat (like Remake), and then dilute it all to hell with these annoying ass minigames
That was a tough couple of hours. Yuffies second one killed me. 😫 This platinum will be one to be proud of.
This is my last mini-game (series) needed before entering all the battle arenas and hard mode... not looking forward to it. hated this "normal"
I'm not going to platinum this game just for this mini game. I did absolutely all the sidequests and that's all I'm missing. Congratulations to everyone who made it, I'm going to give up because I'm close to losing my sanity.😢
No one should torture themselves for 100% a game, do it for games which are truly rewarding and it's clear that SE intentionally designed the game to be this hard to platinum coz many people felt remake was easy.
But they forgot how to balance the game.
Ff7 Rebirth definitely has a very rough experience even if you're not looking to Platinum

To anyone asking, you CAN get transcendence on normal. I got it in chapter 12. If you do the side quests and mini games you’ll get enough party exp to unlock it. You’ll have to get rid of some nodes on the board to reach it, but I got everyone’s lvl 3 limit breaks in chapter 12 on normal. Just fyi

It's crazy how from normal to hard mode the dynamic of the characters shifts. Like it gets easier with Aerith and damn near impossible with Yuffie. Who ever designed the hard mode for these mini games needs to be fired I swear.

with aerith it was little bit easier when i noticed that i can actually use shadow ward and luminious ward dodge stuff by just pressing it since it has small animation frame where you cant get any damage durring the animation
The dev who choose Aerith to do this minigame is pure evil. Should have given it to Red or someone else. Need do to the two stages for the trophy😅

Man I'm only at level 46 and this is just impossible. Yuffie #3 is just horrid. I've come to the conclusion that grinding till level 70 to save on the pain, which I'll need to do for my hard mode run anyway, will be my best bet with some of these minigames. They're just killing my momentum with what should be such an incredible game. I'm certain whoever came up with these minigames must have been half way through divorce proceedings cause they're so jarringly bad.
Did it on level 48 with the same setup as aerith took 4/5 tries its not that hard just learn to dodge and combine abilities in the right time and you can do crazy explosions.
Breezed yuffie at 47 without a single point in her folio. Windstorm was OP and the art of war and supreme just melted thr big guys with doppelganger. She was very easy but I'm struggling with the final aerith atm

I used it. Cleared all the hard variants on Dynamic at level 47. Dopple helped lots, didn't even need to min/max materia just went in and tried 4-5 times👌
The fastest way to destroy the Orange Cactrot in Yuffie's stage is to use Windstorm while holding Shuriken,for the big one use Doppelganger and Art of War.
I'm sooo close to Party Level 10 but these Hard Modes. I always fall like 300 Pts short...

Just fkn one mini game after a fkn nother. This is getting ridiculous. It is no longer fun to platinum let alone finish this game. I have never been so burnt out from a game. I need a holiday.
Using doppleganger/windstorm with yuffie and using the i-frames when summoning dark/light wards & soul drain on big cactuar with aerith are the best pointers that i can give. Good luck gamers. It's possible!

I had a fairly easy time with Yuffie- I kept doppelganger up- windstorm for big groups- art of war does big and quick damage to the big guys once they fall down...also great on the Cacneos which seem to have a higher defense- lil bit of dodging and GG. Aerith can suck a butt...glad your'e dead....still progging XD
I was able to get it two hrs later!!!! jeeeeeze man. that was my final bit of party exp- devs this is diabolical! now to go make 4 save files. Godspeed.

Just finished it, Yuffie part is the hardest by far
Juffie: Unfriendly Competition. After 4 days of tries I did it... 6140! The key was Doppelganger. Must equip Bird of prey weapon then you can use Doppelganger which copies Juffie and she is kinda double. Equip also Cetran Armlet and important Speed Demon Keychain. Other mega important thing is ability Blindside (use it quick when you are hit and you fly) it gives great damage. Of course almost as much possible use Windstorm. Gold big Cactuar use Banishment 3.
I literally had only 2 pugilist cactuar left and had 5820 points, just barely avoided a barrage of blasts to deliver an art of war that took them both out and finished with 6020. One hit and i would have failed. That was Yuffie number 3, by far the hardest one of the bunch. Aerith's were easier than Yuffie's for me for some reason. Being able to switch between light and dark on the fly, trancedence dealing three times as much as Yuffie's bannishment. The list goes on, Aerith may be slow but she is more efficient in my opinion. Best of luck guys, plenty of good tips in the comments. Trancendence is a godsend for hard mode Aerith cactuar crush, just make sure you are always charging it up by using it after each big cactuar. Soul Drain or whatever is a good secondary to help finish them off. yuffie is a pain in the ass and gets bounced around the arena constantly. Just gotta spam windstorm and use banishment on the big guys followed by art of war and supreme art of war. oh, also a huge tip would be not to forget snow flurry, it one shots the magical cactuar, so when you have tons of little orange cactuar worth 100 points, guys that windstorm is not touching, use snow flurry and it can sometimes kill 2 or 3 magic cactuar in one cast. Once i started using it i beat Yuffie 3 on my first try.
Didn't realise I didn't have my Banishment learned yet, this video reminded me and made a world of difference, thanks for the upload!
The hardest part is when they run all over the place.
This is easily the worst minigame of them all and I can say I hate majority of them. This is my last one aside from piano. Great game but I hope they stop with this nonsense in part 3
The Insomniac Spiderman games have the best trophies/achievements. None of the extra challenges were that hard and some had accessibility controls you could use. For most of these, especially the sit ups, i feel like they could have a story mode option. It's just dumb. Why on earth have Cait Sith throw boxes with janky controls and fight alone.
Third challenge is a mess

What I have found is physical attacks no longer harm the green cactuar much and throwing the weapon no longer harms the orange ones much. The small orange ones are harder to take down than the large ones by far. Nothing seems to work on them.
To anyone doing Yuffie I used fire ninjutsu and windstorm if anything windstorm actually helped a lot more then it should have

You have so kuch going on and watching the video does zero for me except make me ask more questions. I finally finished the Aerith fights, but im exhausted from these mini games, and i have no idea what half the moves on yuffie are that youre using.

Just because you see the materia and build, doesn't show you the strategy behind it. It would be like seeing the screen shot of a finished queens blood match. You see the cards, but you don't know how it was played

Seems like you pretty much need the Purification skill to beat Yuffie's 2nd challenge. The Aerith ones got a lot more doable once charge up lvl2 Transcendence for the later gold gigantuar
if you finish the game and then choose chapter select on 12, do you still need to do the last 2 cactuar crushers to unlock hard mode?
Not if you unlocked it on your first play through.

You say hit the enemies with melee but I can be RIGHT IN FRONT of an enemy and Aerith will continue to spam magic half the time. Is there something I'm missing?
While under a ward aerith will do magic attack, outside of a ward, she will do melee.

Make sure you mastered the skill with that weapon before switching weapons. Once it's mastered you can use it with any weapon.
I am confused, you unlocked Aerith’s Transcendence ability when doing hard mode but I don’t have it unlocked because my party lvl isn’t maxed.
Did you get by it without the ability?
You don’t have to max out party or hard mode for transcendence. I got it in chapter 12 on my normal play through. Got rid of some old nodes to make my way to lvl 3 limit breaks for everyone. Might just need to do more side quests or something for more party exp 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

when fighting the big cactaurs, use aeriths trancendence ability *1st cast it asap for it to charge* then when he does his body slam, use it again, it will damage him much quicker*

The problem I'm having is I can only do 2 out of 4. Ove the protocol relic. And it's literally the only thing I'm missing in this region. The first trial. with Yufi if you just switch her Ninjitsu abilities. It's in her Abilities You can change your base element to wind fier Ice and lightning. The problem I'm having is. I can't get the other 2 trials to unlock. With the goblin that runs The trial He said that he would contact me when The other 2 are ready. And I'm in cosmo Canyon and I'm like. Is this ever going to trigger? So I thought maybe I did something wrong. Because I've Already 100% The next region and I'm on the region after that. And still no word of the kactour trial.

ill be honest aerith was hard to use on this games but with patience and a little bit of materia changing plus hermes shoes i beat it way to easy thx to soul drain which does the most damage.

which has the ability Noble Sacrifice. Neither is transcendence the ability of any other weapon. @@CanOfDarkFruit
You get it from SP. Each character has a skill to learn on their tree before their level 3 limit break at party level 9
