- This was my attempt to recreate the famous video ( • Kumikyoku "Nico Nico D... ) on real hardware
I started with a ROM patched with the original Japanese patch located here: www.smwcentral...
However, that patch includes no music, and even normal Super Mario World music is muted. So, I loaded this patched ROM into Lunar Magic, a Super Mario World level editor. Specifically, I used an old version that was contemporary to when this video was first released. The only change I made was to re-enable music for the famous level.
I then patched this edited ROM with the MSU1 patch located here: www.zeldix.net...
This replaced the normal Super Mario World soundtrack with PCM files. I then found the specific PCM file that played during the level and overwrote it with one I made myself from the original "Nico Nico Douga Medley", with some added silence at the beginning to sync with the game action.
This was the result. Although it seems to start OK, after a bit the music gets out of sync with the game. The original video was probably recorded off of ZSNES or something and the emulation differences probably account for the difference. At least, that's my theory. You can see that most of the checkpoint gates do not even render here, for example, which might screw up the timing. It took several tried before I could get Mario to make it through the whole level, even through it is supposed to be "Automatic" and entirely deterministic.
Oh well. It would have been a neat party trick.
glad to see another kumikyoku nico nico douga automatic mario fan
In the original rom I don’t think it had music and the medley was just overlayed in postproduction
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
I SEARCH FOR 1 HOUR AND I ENTER TO THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!
Would you mind uploading the patch as-is, so that we just have to patch it to a clean SMW ROM?
Would really appreciate it, since not everyone is that tech-savvy.
@@expeditootavio Yet not a single one of these links is addressing my question.
I was asking about the patch file, combined with the MSU1 sound.
Thanks for trying to help, I guess.
Hey, I've been trying to do this myself. How did you manage to patch the nico nico douga rom to also have the MSU hack? I've been trying but it either plays the original audio or doesn't let me patch the file with FLIPS.
ua-cam.com/video/JKxKuoPn8mg/v-deo.html I have got it to work and am slowly working on having the audio sync, if anyone wants to help I can tell you how I did it!
I wonder what causes the audio to desync from the gameplay
whatever emulator they used back in the day likely didn't have as accurate timings as real hardware
I did the same, only thing is I ran it on Snes9x. :P
what is the number of the pcm track?
Download msu-1 game?
maybe slow down the music a bit?
