Wow wow wow, wow, you are so talented.
These turned out so beautiful!!!! The bubbles don’t matter, they just add to the velvety multi dimensional effect.
Actually might look super cool to try and get a bunch of bubbles!
Phantastic idea, Ur a real artist!!🌸🌸🌸
These are GORGEOUS!!! I don't even mind the bubbles - they look like tiny pearls. Please make more !
I agree 😁 I like the bubbles....they do look like pearls 😁😁
The bubbles do look like tiny seed pearls or beads, so pretty, makes me want to have a go at doing these, even though I probably wouldn't be very good at it, I am an oil painter usually... I wonder if these could be painted on?. 🤔
I bet the colored cling wrap would work to see better when trying to peel off!! I know in the states they sometimes have different colors available during spring time!!
Great idea. I am going to try your idea next time I come across the colored stuff
Wow just wow! I love watching your videos because you inspire me so much. Those coasters are just amazing and I can not wait for my next day off to make some. Thank you so much 💓
Totally Awesome!😻
Would love to see a rose gold/ivory combo of coasters...but I love everything you do!
Love them thank you for sharing.I definitely have to try this.
Awesome
If you wipe off the tippy tops of the ridges after dusting- would they give you the black you are looking for?
I love watching all your videos! I was wishing you could show how you did the neclace/pendant?
We have the same shipping problem in Alaska. Even some companies in the US won't ship to us. It's especially frustrating when they tell us they won't ship international 🙄
I made 3 tier stand like this it is turquoise and beautiful
The mica popping though is gorgeous, it’s like two artworks in one, they are like planets with stars. The fronts are astonishing ! 🥰
Just at the 11:00 mark & thinking they would make a nice mold, perhaps?
The pendant looked like there were bits of dichroic glass embedded.
I think if I were working with colours like these that change so much from powder to finished product, I'd start by making a series of small cabochons, showing each material in a finished piece in at least black, white, and clear resin. Then I'd want to glue all my cabochons to pieces of thin plywood in a ring binder and write beside each sample exactly what it was so I could flip through at a later date and know what each material could do.
My memory isn't good enough to handle this stuff any other way, but also I think a folder like that would be great for teaching the next generation. It would probably need felt glued to the back of each page so they didn't scratch the pieces on the page behind them... Am I overthinking this?
the pendant you used for inspiration looks like kiln fused dichroic glass with a clear top and black backing. I work with glass.
Gold, pink, gold, pink, gold, pink!!! Oh Julie, these turned out absolutely gorgeous and you don’t know how much I needed this video tonight!! Your an amazing artist and when something you put together like this goes right, it shows!! Thank you for sharing with us and letting us be a part of your world:-)
You could make a mold of them before you use the Mika powder so that You you can just re-pour and not have the plastic to pick out in the second pouring correct? I would love to see you make some jewelry with this same affect?
Beautiful!! I love the way this came out!! Thanks for sharing.
You might be able to do aluminum foil with mold release and see if it releases better
A little tip for you, especially when filming, double, or even triple up, the gloves you're wearing.
It's far easier to remove a glove than trying to put on new ones, especially if your hands are sweaty.
Use just a little baby powder dusted on your hands....or powder lined gloves. ?🤷
Sorry have to say why no latex gloves on your hands? Epoxy will harm your skin non toxic or not, Safety first people safety first:>) Beautiful art though best wishes from Canada 2021. Magic Resin is very good it offers zero VOC rating No fumes.
to get the effect, when brushing on your powder, only put it in the crevices. The crevices when you're working becomes the peaks when you're viewing it from the other side. That keeps your working peaks bare of any powder in order to show black in the view-side crevices. It takes time to get that affect, and a practiced hand. Really loving these colors though. And the bubbles??? See them as pearls on silk.

You can use iridescent cellophane to create a similar effect. And you'll only need clear resin! You can still paint the back black for a completely different color show.
Yes, I've seen that
That's exactly what I thought as well with the pendant but this plastic wrap is really cool
I like those coasters.
Would foil work on those fo the crinkles?
@@theresahitchcock860 I wonder if foil would stick to the resin more as it dries? Not sure
Can you see cling film do get this look ??
Also! If you try these again, try dipping a q-tip in alcohol and clean mica off the tips of the bumps in the clear resin and when you flip your coasters those tips will be the bottoms of the wavey parts with the black showing through. That should help you get your separation in colors you were looking for :)
That pendant looks like a piece of reticulated dichroic glass. Sometimes it’s called crinkled dichro. There is a thin layer of metal oxides and quartz crystals on the surface of the glass. When the piece is fired the glass layer will expand and crackle the surface layer.
Hi, thank you for introducing these great ideas and making your work useful and inspiring to many beginner artists around the world, a fan from Saudi Arabia
Hi, I love these coasters, they are beautiful. The bubbles on my screen look like pearls, in my opinion, it adds to it, it's like someone has just dropped a few pearls onto a satin pillow. The colours are just amazing. Many thanks for sharing.
These chemicals can make you sick! Need a well ventilated area with a respirator mask and heavy gloves. I just saw a video from Auntie Tay with her experience from getting sick. I just wanted to let you know for your health. 💕
Oh WOW Julie. This process is so amazing. Thank you for sharing the technique with us. I am going to try it tomorrow on a small coaster first. I'm nervous, but I will try. LOL.
They are so pretty. If you spray some alcohol on your plastic ( the side you would put in the resin ) you won't get bubbles. If you are done with the mica turn your mold upside down then the excess mica will come out if you do it on a piece of paper you can pour it back in its jar.
I was thinking the same thing about the alcohol.
Maybe I can send you some of the "Let's Resin" if you like, I'm in the United States
the first time I did this the resin came out the sides, so time I waited a few hours for the resin to set, and then I placed the plastic on top and they worked out great
A suggestion for the plastic wrap- I've seen colored wrap, usually around Easter but I think you can find it year-round. It may make it easier to find all the broken bits left in the resin when you take it off?
12:54 "if anyone knows".
It's probably polymer clay that was domed with resin.
Inserted shards of dichroic glass by the looks.
I love your videos but the videos are sooo long. Please Do the clipping off camera bc your videos are already soooo long.
I have really been enjoying your videos and creativity. I love your spirit! Thank you for taking the time to share your resin adventures with us and for teaching us the ropes! I'm brand new at this and HOOKED :D
Help! I tried this technique but my plastic wrap stuck to the resin. Any tips on how to avoid that?
These turned out absolutely gorgeous! Great job. I’m wondering how these would look with holographic cellophane, I might have to give it a try.
You can buy what is called Angel Paper (I use it on nails) from AliExpress or eBay which is probably what was ued in the pendant - just cut it into the irregular shapes. Also just use a big blusher brush or similar big fluffy face powder brush to brush the excess mica powder off.
The bubbles are fun, they sit in the creases like pearls nestling in there
I don’t know why people get annoyed if it takes longer than they’d like. They can just ff if they need to. You’re fantastic!
I totally agree it tells u how long the video will take and I really feel if u wanta quick video on how to do something quick then perhaps not watch a video that says 50mins or more. I want watch and hear your thoughts and processes along the way too coz u were going to ff in another video and u had something that happened and u didn't expect to happen, as they do and we got to see how u fixed it and we wouldn't of got that if u ffd. So I'm glad u let it run and it was while u were mixing . So ffd guys coz there are people out there that want to hear the thoughts etc too.
Can’t believe people get annoyed. That makes no sense. Do they realize that they have a choice? I look at x2 speed sometimes if I just want to see and not hear. The thing is that we have a choice. Have to say she is super creative. I just look for fun😊😊
The pendant looks like it could be fused dichroic glass. The tutorial is awesome, the coasters turned out spectacular!
I dont do anything like this and do not intend to, however I love watching your channel and all the beautiful things you make. Thank you and sending best wishes from England. Susan Dalton
I love your work, but less talking would be nice.
I'm trying to do this on a flat surface instead of in a mold. I hope it turns out well! I loved watching you work these pieces, and I even showed my husband. I've been thinking about resining a desk, and I think this would look really cool for that.
They turned out beautiful!
Even those small bubbles inside look fascinating, like a precios spheres.
I wonder if you use various pigments on the same thing, how would it look?
Also... what if you use opaque white background instead of black? I think it might also look pretty!
Or perhaps a mirror paint
I love all of the colors! And no, I wouldn't mind seeing another video using this same technique! 💜 Beautiful work!
'll al3a23🙋😨🙋
Now this is SIMPLY STUNNING. Well done Julie. I’m going to copy you. It’s the best compliment I could pay you!
You: “Shut the front door!”
Me: “And... I’m subscribing!” 😍
These turned out so beautiful. Also, your voice is so lovely & upbeat & you had such a great personality about the whole thing that I found myself wishing the video was longer. Found you randomly & I’m really glad I did.
These are soooo pretty. Question though, why do you remove the plastic? I’ve seen some people keep the plastic on the resin and still comes out like you made. Have you tried leaving the cling wrap in the mold and making it like that? If you have my apologies lol
I've wondered if that was an option. I've tried this process twice now and can't get the cling wrap off. This will be take 3!
I have tried on 5 occasions with cling film , left it 4-5-6 hrs just cant get the film away or it lifts the resin up , getting fed up used 2-1 resin
I tried it too. The wraps never came out.. Lol. I decided to go with plastic in between my layers.
❤❤❤❤❤ yes they look just like dragons and I love dragons
They are really cool
Absolutely love this, I must try. So do I understand correctly, you leave the plastic wrap in there until it is partially cured so that it doesn't get permanently stuck?
I think that too
Try coating the cling film with a thin coat of Resin and then dip that side in mold to avoid bubbles.
So I did a quick video about a month ago on how I mark my chameleons and interference powders so its easier to see how they will look at a glance.... the US changed restrictions recently on shipping inks and paints they deemed hazardous materials. They are required to go by ground now which is probably the reason some companies can't ship overseas anymore... we couldn't buy ink from Amazon for a brief time until the shipping mess got figured out. I started some of these the other day but have finished yet! Its a great technique!
Simply beautiful! And I love the bubbles too - absolutely looks like little colored pearls.
The colourful part of the pendant might’ve been made using a laminator and some iridescent foils on clear plastic with the pattern printed on it. There’s this girl called Sweet Art Crafts here on YT who uses this method to make clear holographic stickers and resin inserts.
I do think they used iridescent flakies in pendant suspended in the clear resin then black for back.
Having used flakes in pendants, I think the one shown here was made with one piece crinkled - it is a different effect to the flakes.
Unbelievably gorgeous. They are all amazing. You had me hysterical laughing. You reminded me of Disney’s Cinderella when her dress turned blue pink blue pink!!! Phenomenal
12:31 when you hold something up to the camera, please hold your hand still for at least 5 seconds. I always have to pause the video when you're showing something up close because the constant movement makes it impossible to really focus on the piece. I know you're moving the piece to show how light reflects, as well as the dimension of the piece but seriously, 5 seconds of being still would be great.
I normally don't have an extra 30 minutes in my day to spend watching a video about one project so a 1 HOUR video on one project, and still having to pause to see the piece ...
Anyway, 5 seconds of being still would be great.
Thanks
I love this video and the whole process with all the hidden stones of the process. As when I start doing it myself I always thought this is something wrong with me as in some videos it seems so easy to do but in reality it is not. So I can not stress enough how good are your videos and encouraging as well as inspiring ! Now I am not afraid to experiment with this technique! thank you, thank you, thank you.
Amazing costers
I love watching your videos! You are my favorite when it comes to resin. The only channel I watch! These are absolutely beautiful!
The pendant looks like it has mylar flakes inside
Your enthusiasm is infectious 🙂 love watching you create. They are sumptious 😍 well well done 🙂🍀❣
❤ So very gorgeous. They really do look like satin and the instrutions were very clear.. I like that you are experimenting as we would be doing and you show how to take care of problems. Thank you. M in USA NH
These are stunning!! I want to run down to my craft room and make some!! I think I even have some chameleon mica powder! Thanks for showing us this gorgeous technique!!
I can not wait to make these! I have these same pigments from glitter and crafts for U. Love them! This is are beautiful!!! Going to make them tomorrow. Well in a few hours it’s 2:30 but I want to go do them now I’m so excited about them!
That is an absolutely amazingly beautiful set of coasters.
You could do that to a round disc that goes on a necklace or a heart, how beautiful would that be.💗
Just a tip. I make a lot of stuff where I paint in micas before pouring resin.
A little bit goes a loooong way and I've found if you leave too much powder in cracks or folds, the resin has a harder time getting in there all the way and you'll see cracks and/or holes in the dried resin.
I love this technique! Thank you for sharing with us!
My powder wasnt really sticking to the resin
The pendant looks like they have but a base layer of clear resin and allowed that to cure enough to allow tiny cut up pieces of that iridescent plastic stuff to stick to the tacky resin and then covered with black resin. Looks pink but changes colour with a darker background, like the chameleon micas. Love how urs came out too. xxx
Yes thats what I think it is too. I saved some iridescent sheets from a bath bomb and cut it up really tiny with scissors which took me ages.
WOW! you did a beautiful job. Thank you for sharing.
And I mentioned before and I'm really sorry...I am not wanting to hurt your feelings, but could we maybe take a poll to see if maybe...just maybe and NO OFFENSE, that you do too much talking and explaining? It's hard to put am focus on your art work because of the constant chatter.
A poll maybe?
The bubbles look like pearls. Maybe you could deliberately add pearls in and maybe other small gem crystals so the bubbles are not singled out.
They remind mo of Australian black opal. Depending on the movement of the coaster, you see a variety of colors. (May have to collaborate with Black Opal Direct 😉😉😉)
I live in Arizona if you live closer I'd be at your house everyday learning from you. All your work is beautiful
pendant looks like slivers of friendly plastic...google 'lizzie welch' / 'rarebird' or 'friendly plastic', on pinterest.
I also think the pendant is diachronic film in a shattered glass technique. The coasters looked beautiful, I was nice to see all 4 colours. I have some really pretty mica powders to have a play with, they’re almost an oil slick look. I think this might be a nice way to try them out. Thanks for another great video.🐨👏🏼🙏🏻
Simply Ahhhhmazing
Really love watching you all the way from Pakistan😍😍😍
If people are warning that resin is toxic on hands, I imagine the dust isn’t good either? Can your hubby vacuum up the dust as you’re sanding, hold the nozzle close, so it doesn’t settle? It must be all over your utility sink area!
Loved this project Claire. Just playing around with silicone inlays after being inspired by one of your previous videos and loving it. Have made a heap of inlays and so far had no trouble pouring silicone into silicone moulds. Thank you for continuing to inspire me. ❤
I like the bits of mica dust in the black it looks like stars or as you say, fairy dust!
The finished coasters look stunning I love them. My husband got me a load of resin stuff for Christmas and I still haven’t tried it yet 😵. Partly because I’m a bit “ scared” of making a right old mess and wasting everything plus I’ve not been well since Christmas. Hopefully I’ll feel like biting the bullet and having a go.
I love the second one the purple/ blue one…my favourite colours!
I like the extra mica at the bottom it certainly doesn’t look wrong.
They look like disco larme fabric…. The kind of disco wear dresses we wore in the 1980’s! 😝 Showing my age now lol
No Fo Mo is 🔵 💚 🟣 & ♥️
South Beach is 🧡 ♥️ 🟡 & Mauve
Inter Fear Me is 🔵, 💚 & 🟣
Inter Fear This is ♥️, gold &💚s. Those were the two inter fear colors that were available in the ebay store.
Well that was a fun comment to write! I think they are beautiful! Will be trying them for sure. Maybe after you put the mica in use your air duster to blow out out and then use a baby wipe on your finger to take the mica off of the high points so the 🖤 shows through. I was trying to work that part out in my Covid fogged brain.. Maybe the thin bits are down not up? Oh I don't know.. I'll try it and see what happens..
💙🐰💙
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! Want to try this myself. Very nervous about it. New to resin
These are beautiful. I love them!
By the way, the clear plastic seems hard to work with, and I haven't tried this but (in the US, at least),at Christmastime, you can get the plastic wrap in red and green. Maybe that would help to identify where the plastic remains. If it works, stock up, since you won't see it in sores again til the following Christmas time! Hope it helps.
I really enjoy watching your channel. Thank you.
The doming effect is called a meniscus, isn’t that a lovely word?! The greater the surface tension and the narrower the confines of the liquid, the rounder the effect. Water does it, mercury does it (think old stile science equipment or thermometer, with a column of mercury)
Reminds me of putting on eye makeup! In the US we have what’s called a Dollar General Store where everything is a dollar. Anyway I saw a YT hack video where they used the mica eye shadow instead of the craft powder! Turned out the same a was really cheap….just a little bit of info🤩. Love your videos just placed a huge order from Etsy for a the stuff like you are using! Thanks for sharing!❤️
You've done a magnificent job. Thanks for sharing! I'm new to your chanel from Sulphur Springs Texas!♡
The pendant that you're asking about...they probably used flat iridescent cellophane glitter and placed it in the mold... OR they're doing it the way that you're doing this...
And if you can't get a specific powder, you should have friends in every part of the globe...to get that powder and mail it to you...I'd do that for you! I'm in California.
Hi It's me again, Corrine from the Netherlands ;-) I'm trying to do the same thing now. And i might have a solution for the bubbles. Just spray a few sprays of alcohol on the plastic you put on the wet resin. It helpt to pop the bubbles! I'll finf out tomorrow if it really works, but for now i'm positive :-)
Beautiful!!! I absolutely love this technique Thank you for sharing. This will be my next pour!.
Buy from ELICHEM. Best in the world and their Aussie branch is AWESOME.
You need a postal friend - someone in the region that company will send to, who will receive and forward parcels to you. I can't see any real reason you can't have the pigments you want. They're not exceptionally poisonous, they're not explosive, they're not a biosecurity threat ... what other reason is there to not let you have them? The company doesn't want to bother?
Got inspired from your work and did something similar. But My coasters will stick to hot cups. I took exact measurements and lot of curing time. Mixed well. It's written uv resistant but still hot cups stick. What shd I do? Please suggest me. I want to gift them.
Just loved these! Going to have to get me some chameleon pigments! I think, in the necklace- they have cut off pieces of "friendly plastic". Have a google- warning... opens up another new art and craft dimension!!
Love these, too!! What is the size of the container of the glitter you are using?I'm on GC4U and I'm trying to get a visual reference on the sizes offered. Thank you so much!!!
That pendant looks like the ones I make...clear layer of resin in the mold with teeny pieces of cut up iridescent plastic, like the kind used for wrapping gift baskets, etc. Sprinkle them into the clear layer, and then when dried, layer of black resin like you used here. Maybe do it your way, but after brushing the color on, wipe the mold out a bit, using a flat hand, to get it off the very tips of the grooves facing out, which is the bottom when the piece is done. You can use multiple colors that way also, they would be layered.
Feedback: Would be great if you edited out the vast amounts of irrelevant footage.
I agree but then the artist is sitting there editing videos instead of creating content. We can fast forward much easier.
I really like seeing it all.
Okay, I think I'm in love with interference colors. 🤣🤣
