I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
I have that combo and at the beginning of the video i was thinking goodluck casting ahahha! I have used it to just drop straight down off a dock and catch bluegills tho
should have just got a dock demon for that.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Yeah I bought that too, although when I found out it couldnt cast I attached a spinning reel and I use it for backpacking and little streams, works great for that

Whilst you were slagging off the rod and reel you were still catching a decent fish. So it worked after all. It's a piece of fun and a handy thing to stick in your pocket to use when you are out and about. I have the spinning versions which can cast marginally better but had to laugh at the way you tried to use this little thing like a full sized rod set up. With these little pens it is wiser to reel in sideways or you might snap the rod if you have a scrapper. Like I said, they're a bit of fun and surprisingly do work. Life's too short to cook plastic on the barbie. Have fun

The spinning reel version of this rod is a lot better in terms of casting but the quality is of course still very poor. I use mine for catching tiny bluegills.
Yeah I had one, it lasted a year than the reel seat broke. But I was catching multiple bass.
iv seen people catch 10lb carp with the spinning set up, iv caught 2lb wild brownies on mine and 3lb pike. excellent For its [price
The reason it is seizing up is because you didn’t toilet before you got it you also didn’t adjust all the boats it’s like a real bait caster with the braking system and such on the side that’s what all those little screws and that and that nut if for

Might be ok for a bug out bag for blue gill or crappie, of the end of the dock, the look on your face when you were trying to cast was priceless. Hated to see you burn the thing up some kid would have had a good time with it.
I have one of those but it is actually good because it Is a spinning reel and has a carbon fiber rod my pen is also a smaller about the same size rod I paid 40 for mine but it was definitely worth it I can put a full size spinning reel bait caster whatever on it

the spinning combo works well casts easy and reels fine for me

There is a spinning reel for that to and it works better than the little bait caster reel and it's bigger and way easier to use

I think the reel is similar to Mr.Crappie reels so it doesn't cast. It's a jigging reel where you pull only the line you need and then "cast" it.
You can also get something better for $10 if you buy the rod and reel separately.
The pen rods are great fun but the spinning reels work a lot better than the one you were using
I got a zebco slingshot combo at Walmart for 9.68 and I actually love it. I can't believe that piece of crap cost the same. 😫

So far the best Ultra-light combo is 5' 6'' Shakespeare micro series with a zebco 33 micro cast spinning reel spooled with 6lb diameter flurocarbon. Lands 8lb carp like nothing

If you are getting a pen rod I’d suggest a spinning reel instead of the bait caster reel that is giving with that combo
I have this pen rod but with a spinning reel. I didn't want to buy the casting reel because I read many reviews. The spinning reel will do the job. It's a tiny bit on the rough side, but not bad at all. And that little pen rod works proper when used with a spinning reel. I used my pen rod for Steelhead fishing believe it or not LOL. And I caught 10+ LB Steelhead on it, not one, buy many.
I use mine for bluegill fishing. And it works well

I usually buy one of the $12 reverb combos from walmart,they're really cheap but make a suprisngly good bass/pan fish pole. So I'd just spend the extra $3 and get one of them
