Air Shotgun Hunting Doves!

For the last couple months I've had the opportunity to shoot and to hunt with a new air powered shotgun from Air Venturi. Using a unique shot shell designed by the airgun gurus from Ohio, this .50 caliber smooth bore (under the Wing Shot moniker), gets the job done! This air-powered shotgun take a little getting used to, because the shot strings are shorter and the velocity lower than a traditional scatter gun, passing shots took me a little while to dial in. But once that happened we were all over these fast flying birds!
Why use an air-powered shot gun? Besides just being very cool, this unique gun is much quieter than any powder burner.... by a significant margin. It allows hunters to shoot in areas where either the noise or the carrying range preclude a traditional shotgun.
The shotguns we were using on this hunt were two of the first test guns before full production kicked in. The production stock has a much more traditional stock design and sighting system. I am using the first production gun to hunt squirrel, rabbit, and more birds at the present time. But in the meanwhile, take a look as we go after doves on the wing!
