- This 1997 documentary for BBC 1 was made at the height of their popularity, featuring interviews with Vic and Bob, Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Jonathan Ross, Ulrika Jonsson, Mark Lamarr and Matt Lucas.
Some small edits have been made to comply with the automated copyright system. Specifically, a few seconds of The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer have had to be blurred. The rest of the programme remains intact.
If you appreciate the upload, buy me a coffee! ko-fi.com/neil...
excellent documentary. Had Bob not gone to the pub that night and seen Vic larking about, how different would life be? They've made me laugh for decades. A truly great comic duo. Thanks for this upload.
You lying git
Thanks for this. I've loved Vic and Bob since I was a young teen. Their humour's right up my street! And Bob was gorgeous 😁
Was?
Well, yes he still is! 😊
Thanks Bob you cheeky so and so.
Brilliant.Thanks for posting. Hilarious.
Mr. Wilkinson, with this high quality comedy show, presented in the finest quality, you are really spoiling us.
The 90s. The last great vault of truly brilliant comedy
Thanks for sharing this! This disappeared from youtube recently and I was v disappointed! Its now in HD too and the quality was awful last time, like an old VHS lol - thank you so much!!
The way I see it, if you’re going to upload old recordings, why not make them the best quality you can? No one likes poorly done uploads - what’s the point? And yes, it’s a fantastic documentary that’s stayed with me from the first day I saw it. I’m glad you appreciate it, too!
Thanks for posting this, made my night.
Thanks for uploading. Enjoyed that.
The lighthouse part is brilliant.
Saw this originally, never since until now. I always remembered Matt Lucas saying you shouldn't analyse comedy. (A) I always thought it was The South Bank Show, and (B) 27 YEARS AGO??? There are top footballers now who weren't even born 27yrs ago. Where has time gone?
I'm glad Mark said it because I had the exact same thought while watching Shooting Stars a bit ago, "This is just a sketch that Vic and Bob turned into a game show.".
You ask me, that *is* genius.
I think, to Vic and Bob but to Vic in particular, it and everything they do together is An Art. Every episode a little art installation.
The lighthouse incident is classic 😂
Like wtf was she doing 😂😂😂
"When a baby does * that *, they're trying to reverse time."
"They generally give up after about six months"
Watched this originally on BBC when it came out, outstanding!
Fantastic. And the concrete radar locations turned up again on Jim's episode of Walking last year
wondered what that was ,looked like a massive crucible
The sound mirrors of Denge...
Great share, cheers.
Another gem, Mr. Wilkinson. Ta.👍
Narrated by Mr Sting from the massive house with the massive gates and the massive guard dogs
Jim was what we needed but Bob is now
That was the thing with Vic and Bob, even when what they said wasn't funny, it was usually so cringe that you still had to laugh at it, you could see them look at each other and realise that the line or joke wasn't funny and that would make them laugh, just knowing they'd messed up, they didn't care, they laughed anyway and carried on and so did we. It was weird and the 90s was a weird time.
was trying to work out who was narrating this ... came up at the end "sting". 🙂
The brass hand still going strong…
I loved them so much , I once went to a hero's and villains party dressed as 'fob Vic' and no one knew who the fucdk I was🤣
You can’t bring a baby into a lighthouse, if the baby has been on the booze
Nice that Charlie got dressed up
I didn't realise til just now that Mark Lamarr and Matt Lucas went so far back with these two
and I also didn't know that Bob was such a chain smoker or that he once had hair.
Brilliant Comedy!
I love the way Jim Davidson
Who's the guy next to Jim at 11:30? Reminds me of Kinky John Fowler a bit...
I accidently shat in one of my own boots.
The staff at Dungeness Lighthouse don't come out well.
Dungeness Pepperpot.
Who is the brunette behind James Brown? She's stunning.
👍
Is this narrated by Sting??
Mr Sting.
24:15 curly haired bloke summed them up really.
Is that Sting narrating?
I think it is. We know he's a big fan (Stotts etc)
And perhaps (?) Paul Morley doing the interviews.
It could Bee 🐝
very very funny my style of comedy
Jim Davidson really exposed himself in this film. Not in a good way..
What're yer sayin', like?
Oh, absolute bollocks...!!!
He compared them to Morecombe & Wise, so what are you saying?
@@ignoblesurfer6281 I know!!
@@ignoblesurfer6281 ye don’t spose he’s been looking at our bras?
Have you got a full episode of Big breakfast 13th dec 2000 please thank you very much
It was Terry's brother.
Jim Davidson hahaha Jesus Christ
They had him on so they could show him to be a comedy zero 36:25
The cockroach king!
What was wrong with the lighthouse people?
"We'll have no comedy here, thank you"
All well and good until Davidson pops his ginger face up 🤦🏻♂️
😂😂😂
Only person who spoils this is Jonathan Ross.
Really? Not Jim Davidson?
Ross gave these guys their first break, kind of discovered them
His comment about Bob being an undiscovered well was accurate
He’s nauseating isn’t he? Like a piece of persistent clinker. His entire career is sycophantic sucking up to anyone with actual talent or coming into fashion and then claiming “I saw them first.”
I'm so glad Jim Davidson is no longer relevant in comedy. The world has moved on, he hasn't
I never found these two remotely funny, although Bob on WILTY makes me weep laughing. Go figure.
I know what you mean, they are an acquired taste. I loved shooting stars and parts of the smell of reeves and mortimer. But the big night out I just did not find that funny and i have broad sense of humour that takes in python
, black books, father Ted and black books and the it crowd. The fast show.
Bobs such a spanner int he , just adorable
