I always wanted to see her live, but it seems I was always working. I was sad to learn of her untimely passing far too young. I watched her every chance I could on PBS on Austin City Limits in my younger years. Best version of From a Distance in my Opinion. A great song in written by Julie Gold. It reminds me of why are we at war for so many years and fighting in wars for other nations. I'm not sure if that was the reason Julie Gold wrote the song, but it sounds like she wrote it about Vietnam possibly?
Thank you for posting this:) 1985 is the year I first saw her, at the U.E.A. in Norwich, such a long time ago. She has been the soundtrack to my life, from my teens to now, in my 50's, and a huge inspiration to me. I have loved her ever since. I've never cried before over the passing of someone I haven't actually known, but I have cried over the beautiful Nanci Griffith. ❤❤❤
For sure Nanci's concerts were the absolute best and this one has to be the best of the best! Fantastic quality, the best songs and awesome musicianship. Thank you so very much for posting this gem. Live in the UK and was so privileged to have seen, very many moons ago, Nanci in Concert at The Stables, Milton Keynes, UK. It was a magical night for sure but oh to have been at any of the Austin City Limits Concerts!! Don't think I will ever come to terms with Nanci's passing but please Rest in Peace lovely sweet lady.
Did anyone record the latest ACL PBS special ? I called to ask if recording could be purchased now or soon and the answer was they did not intend to release for sale or make downloadable. I really need it!!!
