Great video Kate, thought it was you in English Biker Dan's video doing a funny crouch at the start of it. This review just confirmed it. Keep up the good work
As someone who has the + on order and when the price was confirmed and delivery date I decided to get a 2022gt instead. I got a cracking deal and under £11500 with the backbox and a few other goodies. Now I see this come out no regret from me at all.. the dash is 100% better no doubt but let's be honest your looking at the road not the dash. Also I heard from a friend who has one still on order that his has now been delayed to September from May. So definitely glad I did what I did. Saying that the engine is amazing and I love this bike.. I know ktm ducati and bmw have more premium and most definitely more expensive bikes but you tell me if you think you need more than this bike..

Excellent review. The demonstration of seat height and knowing your inseam is very helpful. What I see missing on the bike is too common across the sport and that is a lack of proper fenders. Again, an excellent review and I have subscribed.
I just had to hear your singing again. ❤it! As for the bike I will stick to my non + model as it offers better value for money and has the same awesome engine.
I like the fact the panniers force the load low and forward if they are not overstuffed. Odd looking but ok... Bike overall is a nice package. We don't have the 2023 model or the 9+ here yet that I have seen. Hope we get the better screen and other new features otherwise not liking current USA model.

At first glance I didn't like the design, but I think it will grow on me. Panniers look quirky, probably designed to NOT act as a massive air-brake, and seem better than previous Yamaha panniers (Niken GT). The 1-2 second radar distance is more to do with the system's limitations, rather than any rider's requirement. Personally I wouldn't trust it. Great review and hoping you get a chance to test the updated Niken soon (which I think has the same dash). Ride Safe.
Wow, you have a really nice voice, you should sing more on your channel (even more followers guaranteed) but also thank you for the informative review on this truly wonderful bike. Keep up the good work and please sing mooooooooore ;) on you channel
@I_am_Thursday it has much more, its got the new 7" screen, adaptive cruse control with the new radar system, assisted breaking, the new 3rd gen quick shifter. Some peopkle are happy with the GT as was i. But i just wanted the new model. i think its just a matter of choice.
Very nice review, you got a new sub, just a little tip, next time you ride a triple, let it rev, push it, they love to sing, this one especially, goes easily up to 11000rpm, when you get around 8000rpm, it wakes up and begins to play such good music! But otherwise, perfect review!😎👌✌
I had the first iteration Tracer 900 GT loved it, so I up graded to the Tracer 9GT when that came out I must ov got the Friday 5 oclock special on that one had nothing but problems with it turned out to be a fault on the IMU, eventually got it back from dealer after a month brand new hardly any miles on it and I t got stolen I was gutted so ended up buying Vstrom 1050 xt and love it. I still have a soft spot though for this bike maybe on the cards if I can make the browny ponits with the Mrs lol thanks for this review ATB
I passed my test last week. I took the Tracer7 and Tracer9 out for a spin today. I ruled out the Tracer7 as the 9 was a better fit, had better breaks and power delivery. I will try the Tiger 900 next week, although the 2024 model is not available yet. Presently it's a two horse race between the new Tracer 9 and the new Tiger 900. Would be very interested to know your thoughts? After riding the Tiger next week I may go back and ride the new Tracer 9 because I had the old one today with the dual screen.
My XR was 20k, which I eventually sold for the 9GT +, which I got for under 15k, so 5k lot of money. The power made on the XR is higher up the rev range, this is where its really noticed, a place u rarely spend time at when touring. The GT+ feels as gusty due to it's lower down torque curve. Overall on an Autobahn the XR will shine with those extra horses, but day to day B road touring, the GT comes into its own for me, feels more nimble to than the XR. Both great bikes, and it would be a pleasure to own either, but for touring capabilities, they seemed equal to me.
Any chance you could do a video on accessories for bikes? For example phone mounts and cases. I have a new busa and would like to use my phone as a sat nav as you do on your bike. What are my options please Kate?
Nice review. I too think that the panniers are oddly shaped but glad that they have always come with the Tracer GTs. Did that sloped seat roll you forward into the tank? I and others who own a Tracer 9 or 900GT find this to be a problem, especially if one is a male. I do love that Yamaha corrected the mistake of the dual dash in this bike which for me is a deal-breaker.
I sold my tracer 900GT because of the forward slope and i didnt buy the tracer 9GT Purely because of the double ugly dash thats too small (i cant read anything on it and yes i wear glasses) , the gt+ seems to fix these problems but im waiting to see what the 2024 normal tracer 9gt will be like and then i might go back to a tracer. for now im enjoying the 2023 honda transalp
@@Kevin97587 When I had my 900GT I installed the mod kits from one of the guys on the main Tracer 900 forum, which he 3D printed and it made the seat acceptable. Thing is, the T9 repeated the seat problem and looked like they made it worse. However the guy made kits for those also, but it was the bullsh*t dash that was a turnoff for me and that model. Now the T9GT+ has fixed the dash and added some other stuff but the seat is still a banana … I could live with that if there was a kit fix (yet to be determined) but they lost a sale since I traded my Tracer 900GT for a Tiger 900 Rally Pro. The Transalp looks interesting and depending on what one wanted to do with the bike may be a hit to the T9GT / GT+.
@@GrumpyGoat I like the transalp but u cant compare it to a tracer i think. The tracers engine has alot more power and is in my opinion alot more fun. the transalp does have a more neutral riding position and doesnt have the annoying issue of crushing your private parts. I will wait and see what the 2024 tracer version brings to the table and depending on that i'll either switch or keep riding the transalp
@@Kevin97587 I got the impression that the Transalp is a lower spec bike, with a different focus and not a sport tourer like the T9s. At $10k I would expect it to also attract different demographic.
I have a 2015 Tracer 900 and I absolutely love it,I changed from a 1150GSA and could not be happier. The only thing I had to buy was an airhawk cushion because the seat was awful after 60 miles..Excellent video
In 1983 I would have been interested, then I had a Yamaha XZ550, these days I have a 1988 Lowrider (hotted up) with a sidecar and a 2022 Pan Am Special, and I have pretty much moved on from Japanese bikes, and I'm happy with the classic and future bikes I own.
To be honest Kate, I was thinking about the R1250GS, but the TRACER 9 GT PLUS has every option added for the final price. Not quite the same genre, but boy, that's one incredibly good bike and value.
Hi Kate, A great first review, very impressed with the bike from what you have shown. Could you advise please the capacity of the panniers, and is there an option for a rear plate and top box. Thanks.
Hi Kate, yes a few years ago I had a Tracer 9 and put Givi luggage on it for touring, ideal I think for a solo rider might have been a bit cramped two up though. Kept it for a couple of years and enjoyed it. The GT+ certainly comes with all the bells and whistles, one thing you never mentioned though, does it have the blind spot monitoring mirrors. Thank you.
No, else I'd have mentioned them 🤪 only messing - no, it doesn't have blind spot detectors or an electric screen but other than that, I can't think of much that's missing 😊
Great video as usual Kate, Own the 2022 Tracer 9GT version and i'm super happy with it, the only thing i've changed straight away was the windshield as for me was very disturbingly buffeting , Will i change for this GT Plus ? No, but if i was to choose from the start yes.
Love the videos...did you find the tracer top heavy, especially considering leg length and foot on ground scenario? Ive heard the Tracers can be top heavy at slow /walking pace?
Hi Kate. I am really thinking about buying a T9 GT plus. It seams a fab bike. How would you compare it to the BMW 1250 GS? I know a new 1300gs is out in 2024. But I want to upgrade my current Tracer 7GT and I love Yamaha. So what's your oppinion between to two bikes? Thanks. Andy. 😊
Glad that they changed the Groucho Marx dash, haha. Despite that, I've been eyeing this bike for a while now as I think it offers a lot for the money. The 1 or 2 second time frame on the braking seems a little short but I suspect that feature can be disabled. Two other issues I've heard about on the non-plus model: the switch-gear feels a little "less than premium," and the stock windshield doesn't do a very good job at managing airflow. Hoping that Yamaha brings this to the US soon.
Methinks, nice finish, good engine, little bit sanitised. Would you feel special on the road and then be distinctive parked in a motorcycle rank with similar others.Good content and well presented, many thanks 👍.
I’d have liked to see whether this bike was suited to a pillion. Or how about showing the GPS function? What about the alternative screens? What are the panniers like internally and how much do they hold? Instead it was just wow this bike rides great. So much missing.
Nice review, I think there’s a lot to like about this bike, great base machine with an excellent electronics suite and all in all it doesn’t look too bad really. I do wish they kept developing the FJR1300 and apply this tech to it along with other relative update to the chassis and motor but alas it seems both Yamaha and Kawasaki (Concours 14) have abandoned these great bikes..
FJR is way to heavy and probably not suitable for most riders skillsets. The market has changed anyway, adventure bikes have become the cash cow now. I think that Yamaha is on a winner with the GT 9 series. They just need to lose the split dash on the lower two specs and make that brake reservoir look less povo.
@@peterturner830 Re: market. I suspect you’re probably right about that, they’re not selling in enough quantities to warrant further significant investment, sad though because for those that gravitate towards these types of bikes it only leaves a handful of European brands which tend to be cost prohibitive hence the market segment the FJR and Concours 14. I’m a big guy and enjoyed the 14 and ZX14R’s I ran, they’re more rideable than many give credit but C’est la vie I guess, pity for us ppl that like a bigger bike
18 month newish rider here. No Yamaha dealers in Isle of Man so no test rides. I’ve just ridden a Tiger 900 GT Pro to Turkey and back to the island and want a bike that vibrates less through handlebars on motorways riding 5-6 hours a day. As I can’t easily test this nor the 1250GS, which is the smoothest bike? Thanks
I like it, Kate. Must arrange to have a go on one and consider as a possible replacement for my Kawasaki Z1000SX. I'm not sure I'd go for the Plus, would have to see what i could get on a second hand GT
Really like the look of this bike but worry about the power. I would still keep my SDGT LOL. Exhaust would need to be changed to more traditional but not intefering with the panniers. Pity no blind spot radar and wonder about heated seat?
Sometimes i just like the bike to have just essential equipment and leave the rest to the rider. But of course, 6 way IMU, stopping assistance, speed control and so on is good on a long trip. It'd be interesting to hear your review after riding it for a week.
Lots more to go wrong. If Taiwan (USA/China) kicks off, there'll be another chip shortage, which means good luck getting anything replaced / fixed electronics wise, on many bikes and cars etc. I'll stick with the basics; analogue clocks and controls, carbs etc
That’s what I thought too! Wind noise disappears as soon as Kate opens her visor, so I’m thinking the wind buffeting on the Plus version is as awful as the lesser GT version. Strange that modern bikes claim to be designed in wind tunnels but their wind turbulence is far worse than bikes designed without wind tunnels from the 1990’s and 2000’s
to be honest though, it was the same with the BMW RS vlog. Audio was absolutely dreadful but I found the screen fine! I guess the length of your torso is important and where your head ends up :)
Tracer 9+ 100%. CP3 is a 🍑. I've fallen out of love with i4's. Just don't pare well for anything but supersports for track use. Powers at the top, by which you've then hit legal speeds before they get going.
Wind noise disappeared as soon as you opened your visor 🤔 Does that mean the plus version still suffers with the awful wind buffeting issues like the lesser GT version?
Probably a great bike but not a looker. That dash is loads better than the standard one though. Was the screen noisy as I always find them noisy on this style of bike?
I own a 2020 Tracer 900 GT. Copper. That goddamn bike is my soul.

Wonderful review! Which one did you enjoy more? this , the africa 1100 or the VSTROM 1050? which one is faster up to 80mi?
comparisons with the Triumph tiger GT Pro ?
What’s missing on this bike is, me not being on the back of it with you ❤️🥰
Hello Kate. Great review!!! Does the GT+ have steering damper ?
Methinks, nice finish, good engine, little bit sanitised. Would you feel special on the road and then be distinctive parked in a motorcycle rank with similar others.Good content and well presented, many thanks 👍.
comparing this to mt09 with short legs, cramped legs. This is the same ? looks very comfy for passenger.
I’d have liked to see whether this bike was suited to a pillion. Or how about showing the GPS function? What about the alternative screens? What are the panniers like internally and how much do they hold? Instead it was just wow this bike rides great. So much missing.
Love this vlog looking forward to seeing you on it wearing your leathers and new swanky helmet with your dark visor love you Kate x
Thanx for clear explanation 🙏🏻👍🌹
Hiya Kate. I’m looking at this bike or the new triumph 800 sport. What would you guys recommend. This looks like great value and reliability. ??
How about the riding comfort? The suspension? Does it rides like a train?
Thanks
Great stuff, I thought they had done away with that split divers face dash? bit too much tech on this model for me,
I like it, Kate. Must arrange to have a go on one and consider as a possible replacement for my Kawasaki Z1000SX.
I'm not sure I'd go for the Plus, would have to see what i could get on a second hand GT
I still can't get over the single little light at the front, plays havoc with my OCD
Really like the look of this bike but worry about the power. I would still keep my SDGT LOL. Exhaust would need to be changed to more traditional but not intefering with the panniers. Pity no blind spot radar and wonder about heated seat?
Heated seat is an optional extra so it is possible to have one, it'll just cost some £££
Did you feel the weight of the panniers while riding?
I’m hearing reports on vibrations?
Nice review! How many liters is the tank and how much can the panniers hold?
Great video - does it give it a bit brake light (as you slow down with the cruise control assist)?
Sometimes i just like the bike to have just essential equipment and leave the rest to the rider. But of course, 6 way IMU, stopping assistance, speed control and so on is good on a long trip.
It'd be interesting to hear your review after riding it for a week.
Lots more to go wrong.
If Taiwan (USA/China) kicks off, there'll be another chip shortage, which means good luck getting anything replaced / fixed electronics wise, on many bikes and cars etc.
I'll stick with the basics; analogue clocks and controls, carbs etc
Right, if nothing else, at least my drZ will be running after the apocalypse lol
The wind sounds as annoying as the 2018 version I’m currently riding
Screens aren't good for vlogging, almost had a heart attack when I listened to the audio first time when I got home 😬😬
With all that wind turbulence and wind noise, I don’t think this GT is suitable for touring.
to be honest though, it was the same with the BMW RS vlog. Audio was absolutely dreadful but I found the screen fine! I guess the length of your torso is important and where your head ends up :)
Great that they’ve changed the seat, that put me off, maybe this is is now the bike for me.
How about s1000gx? What is your pref between 9gt+ and s1000gx?
Tracer 9+ 100%. CP3 is a 🍑. I've fallen out of love with i4's. Just don't pare well for anything but supersports for track use. Powers at the top, by which you've then hit legal speeds before they get going.
cant the seat be lowered to 810, 800 ? or this will effect leg length, too much
Has it cornering traction control and abs
Wind noise disappeared as soon as you opened your visor 🤔
Does that mean the plus version still suffers with the awful wind buffeting issues like the lesser GT version?
With all that wind turbulence and wind noise, I don’t think this GT is suitable for touring.
More gadgets and gizmos than the starship Enterprise, reckon I'll stick with the Enners 🤔😁👍
Gotta love the lil enners!!!
Probably a great bike but not a looker. That dash is loads better than the standard one though. Was the screen noisy as I always find them noisy on this style of bike?
