One helpful tip for solo recon tankers.. when switching from gunner back to driver, its much faster to just exit the vehicle and then get back in, instead of rotating thru 4 seats. Just make sure its safe to get out where you are
5:10 You just need to ping where you're aiming and then check the map... that will show you the centre of the circle... which is also useful for the rest of the players in your recon tank to know where you just took a photo... otherwise if you get an empty circle, then say your driver might have no idea where this "safe zone" is located to be able to drive through....
I'm still learning how to play with vehicles in HLL. But my favorite role is the Recon (Observer and Sniper): basically, you'd be doing a similar role like a recon tank by scouting behind enemy lines, gathering as much information to your team plus commander and disrupting enemy garrisons or outposts.
The reason AP doesnt work well against other recon tanks is because of over penetration. The round just zips through the armor and out with minimal spalling, Where as HE can penetrate and explode inside the tank.
I get that logic, but I figured with the weird balance that hell let loose has, you would think this wouldn’t be a thing, I’m glad it’s a thing but it feels like it goes against the “balanced” logic that is in the game regarding armor lol
Killed a tiger with a recon tank, on Alamein, we snuck up behind it under its nose while it was on top of a hill. Took like 6 shots straight to the rear at 15 meters away, but we killed it
I have a theoretical doctrine idea which I have not yet tested for the recon tank. To use it on defense, safely behind your on lines with a 2 man crew as a quick reaction force to any airdrop, supplies or newly discovered garries.
tips for anyone using this beautiful vehicle; don’t bother engaging unless you see ass, use HE rounds for trucks, half tracks and light tanks. And use the damn radio set!!!

AT guns are best used when there is high ground or long areas of sight. They are great when dealing with tanks that can’t be flanked and if you have no armor near by to deal with tanks. They require 50 to make which sometimes can be difficult to get, and it’s full potential requires that you have two people to man it. You just switch directly to the seat you want, you don't have to cycle through them all? Unless this is a console thing

I won’t even waste my time driving a recon vehicle. Every single time the first soilder I run into pulls a bozoka or panzershrek out his ass.

After watching this, my mate and I hopped in one and killed two tigers and 7 OPs at Chapel before being taken out. It was amazing.

You can use them as a counter to recon squads in your backlines since they can't blow you up... only avoid you...

Would be more useful if the tank system in the game was actually realistic with proper penetration values
