oldham is a true american songwriter to be cherished.
my favorite song by will oldham /bpb
Forever brilliant
Soundtrack to my Mind.
Fuck man, Bonnie prince Billy. Can't belive I got to see him open for sleep of all bands.
Somehow seems weirdly appropriate to a particular niche though. I love both too.
Al of Sleep listens to Palace
Thx for being that cinematographer at that time, Billy.
I wish it was 94 again.

@@user-lx4nr1nb9i Thank you Andre.
@@user-lx4nr1nb9i Funny enough UA-cam thought exactly the same as Random Rules was playing in my playlist right after Horses. Two of my favourites ❤
I was at a Papa M show in Memphis one time and asked David if he played the guitar solo on BPB’s “dream of the sea” cover- he was like “nah but I played a pretty ripping solo on a song called Horses”.
I always wondered who played that solo so fucking good!
Taşlar yerine oturuyor
So sick, when did Papa M play in memphis? I’m from here. Doug Easley is a memphian that played slide guitar on a couple of Palace tracks
@@jamesdoctor8079 prolly around 2003 or 2004. He had the bass player from a perfect circle in his band. I’ve met Doug a few times, but I knew they guys in The Glass and A few in Snowglobe. My favorite Memphis band was the saytrs.
@@andorrasrevenge1683 was it Paz, female, brown hair?
A true original. His voice was peak as it was cracking

fab
Man, Will has so much hair back then!
the song (by the Mekons, originally) was on Palace Brother's 12inch EP An Arrow Through The Bitch back in 1994 - Palace Brothers was a weird little group, also fun to see live
That was just a UK reissue of 2 Drag City 7"s.
@@Spectrescup Yes, like a co-release US / UK in different formats, mid 1994. The Drag-City-Releases were hard to get in Europe, good that Domino re-released some Palace-EPs. I don't remember Will Oldham's merch-guy hat those Drag City-7inches with em back then, but the Domino-EP was available at our club

Delicate Violence here, do Adore
sounds pretty much like an homage to "calvary cross" by richard thompson.. just saying.. great song though.. as always
Will and Tortoise do such a great cover of this tune on "The Brave and The Bold"! RT is one of the most underappreciated musical geniuses of rock and roll.
@@Carlito_Sway oh shit, i totally forgot about that, thank you sir

Was thinking the same thing - Rust Never Sleeps.
What was blurred out on the other man's mouth when he was being tackled?
Was wondering that. He appears to be laughing. Maybe they thought it ruined the take?
@@DoubleIvan I swear the first time I saw this video, there was no blur
OK Oldhamites - Do you think it's a coincidence that there was once a race horse called Palace Music or do you think Will knew that when he wrote this?
he didn't write this song - it's a Mekons' song
@@maldoror2007 OK. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing.
Palace Music held the 7 furlong record at Newmarket for years. He then sired Cigar, who was winning the Kentucky Derby and was indisputably the best horse in the world around the time the early Palace records were made.
The early Palace press had photographs of racetracks, and even though this was a Mekons song there are equine references dotted throughout the catalogue ('Riding' for one).
So I think you may be on to something.
oh shit!
I got some on me!
magical it only take one second to hallucinate seeing a gun.. HE'S GOT A GUN!! it was an i phone 2 all along retrograded to work as an iphone 361.2 all along, all along it was a fucking phone!!
Came for the BMW, stayed for the Oldham.
