    I’m at 550 and changing the oil tomorrow myself. I feel much more confident now that I watched your video, thanks for posting.

    Not to be critical but three small things: 1. Tilt bike level to remove all oil. 2. Wipe oil filter housing with clean rag to remove any possible metal shavings. 3. After loosing timing chain adjustment tap engine case with rubber mallet, I don't think your hand is going to have much effect. Take care enjoy the bike.

    Thanks for doing this. I've had a lot of bikes but I must say this is one of the easiest oil changes I've had to deal with. I'm surprised at how dark the oil is for such a short operating time.

    I was told by a motorcycle mechanic when you drain the oil that's when you go over to the doohickey with the 8mm loosen 1 turn then lightly hit with rubber mallet until you hear a click then tighten it back up. Then continue to put your oil in.
    I noticed most people don't wait until they hear the click.

    they do ask you to run that stuff for 600 miles for a reason. Its not just oil that is in there, its various different chemicals and additives in the break in oil. But… I am sure its fine. Just saying they say 600 miles because it helps clean out all of the manufacturing metals.

    Its funny. I have 4 K awasakis. Z900, A KX112, A KLx300 and my 3rd Gen KLR. THE KLR is the most grabbed bike in the shed. These bikes grow on you. I can't explain it.

    You need to stand the bike up straight to get all the oil out before putting the plug back in.

    cool thanks, have about 550 miles on the Traveler, going on two 25 mile rides lol before i drop her. The weird thing about all the doohickey talk. You never see a video on the actual ajustment, didn't even know there was one. thanks

    Noice. Ams oil dealers make plenty at 13.99 a quart. Just got a 22 klr650 also yeah you can get some more old oil out of the motor by standing it up straight AND clicking through the gears. My 07 harley.recommends starting the bike and letting it run to get the oil out of pump and in the lines it said to run it until the light cones on....u never do. I stand it up and click gears...

    Hey I was just curious, did my first oil change and put 2.1 quarts in the motor with a new filter. The oil does not appear in my sight glass when I stand it up straight. Is this normal?

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  Рік тому +2

      I just checked, when mine is straight up , the oil is dead center between the 2 sight glass lines. The bike was sitting without being run for 24hrs.

      @@kcoutside7143 I did fix my issue, the ground was not level at all when I was looking at it. After putting it on level ground the oil level moved up a lot more and looks good! Thanks for the reply though!

  • @cowboy8681
    @cowboy8681 Рік тому +1

    IMO,The bike should have been level ,and not on the kickstand when changing the oil,so all the old oil drains out completely.

    Have you noticed any difference in the feel or vibration of the motor since the doohickey adjustment? Also curious about your chain tension mine seems a lil loose

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  2 роки тому +2

      I’ve noticed with my bike as I put more miles on, vibration decreases, I can’t say it’s related to the doohickey adjustment. I always adjust my chains to the recommendation if the manufacturer. They can seem loose at times even when adjusted to spec, but that’s how I run them.

      The torque spec is 115 in-lbs. Invest in a torque wrench, bikes have a lot of small bolts and small bolts are easy to snap, over tighten or under tighten.
