- Being a civilized country means respect for international law. In the case of Russia, where even the internal legislation is omitted to serve the ruling political power, Ukrainian prisoners of war go through hell on Earth in captivity. Torture, abuse, ill-treatment: these are 'normal' practices in the 'country of prisons,' as Russia is sometimes called. In this special report, UATV dives into the horrors of captivity and compares the conditions of life of Russian POWs in Ukraine with what Ukrainians face in Russia. There is a tremendous amount of work that still needs to be done to return all the prisoners from the other side.

Greatly appreciate your reporting and translation(s) for world viewing. The tabloid-style music overdub is quite distracting, however, making it difficult to hear clearly what is being said. It would be helpful to keep the dramatic music just to the intro and outro and leave the story portion to tell itself without interference, especially considering such horrific content that deserves our utmost respect. This is both shocking, and not at the same time. Sadly, I freaking knew it. Since first seeing the photos of the POW exchange here and elsewhere I suspected this. When the Ukrainian soldiers are filmed at home they look healthy and fed. But when they return they look malnourished and sick. I feel for the families. 😔 The mothers and daughters and sisters and children who have to spend so much time worrying instead of living their best lives. I have a human heart instead of a stone one, and am ashamed that we are the same species!

It is shocking to see the way Ukrainian POWs have been and are treated, though after reports of how Russian soldiers treat civilians in occupied areas, not surprising. This is how Russia expects Ukrainians to accept their rule? Hopefully all Ukrainian POWs will go home soon and their torturers will face justice. I'm American and I have felt they should have already been in it by 2020 at the latest. To many sat back and closed their eyes to the truth.
The people of Poland have been telling you ALL about it for decades. What was the problem that you never wanted to listen to? No, we were not just talking about it. We were already screaming. Why does nobody, no single person, listen to us? What sort of business sealed the sound? Why did nobody say a word when Specnaz broke the legs and arms of a Chechen rebel. Then dragged him naked along the street and shouted to him: "Jump! Jump on the truck!" And all started laughing that he couldn't.
Please, tell me. Was this "important business" worth it? Then, the Georgian occupation. Wealthy Russians started to buy everything in Georgia. God forbid if someone did not agree to sell their own family winery. Or when the restaurant in a nice place in a town was "not for sale".
Tell me. Were Belarus in 2020 and Ukraine in 2014 worth it?

Many of us heard and have been pissed as hell that my and other governments didn't act then. Unfortunately even in a democracy the only say is at the voting booth. The only good thing trump did was wake people up. Not only to our own countries problems, but also reawoke many people to the rest of the world. I'm sorry it took my country so long to act, but please know many of the people here heard loud and clear. As a kid I was honored to know some that survived hitlers camps they taught me what Never Again, Never Forget means and more people should have remembered. I think to many people in to many countries tricked themselves into believing that everything would be ok after the wall came down. But there were people in all countries trying to warn about putin, all you had to do was watch the news about what putin was doing in his own country. The woman I was closest to that survived hitlers camps was from Poland. She was a devout Catholic and was outspoken and had a heart. She had been helping people get out after the night of glass she was doing even more but got caught. When Poland finally got free from russia I wept both from joy but also sorrow because she did not live to see it happen, but at the same time I could feel her joy. Please don't hate all of us because there have been many that have cared and still care.

Perhaps the children of Russian elites could be kept for safe keeping by a third party that monitors how Ukrainian POWs are treated and shares the news with the children of the elite? They would be allowed to call their wealthy families of course and share what they have learned.
For what it’s worth why can’t the UN pressure Russia to have access to inspect the POWs
Because in truth the UN has no real power anymore at least they don't act like it. Just like I believe russia should be removed from its permanent standing on the UN council. They have been lacking from their true intentions for a long time now.

As much as that is our first human response along with our anger and wrath we feel. That's not something that should be done. If Ukraine is doing the same thing as russia then they would be committing war crimes as well. Yes Ukraine needs to beat the hell out of them on the battlefield and blow them to kingdom come but that is on the war front. But treating prisoners or civilians like russia is treating Ukraine would be wrong for so many different reasons. What the russians are doing is pure evil and that is something Ukrainians are not and I don't think ever could be. I am sorry but I gave a thumbs down. You play music, let the original voices both rather loud and the voice overs have a very strong accent that I can hardly understand.
