1979 Ironhead Sportster wants to be sparkly! Will it work?

- I have looked into engraving engine cases, I really love the look and want to do it for my 1979 Ironhead. The engraving machines are most likely very good but also very expensive.
I have found few videos online on how to do it at home so I have bought few things and gave it a good go.
I have some issues, mostly resolved but the machine still doesn't engrave.
What am I doing wrong? Is it my technique? Is it my set up? Was all of this just ginormous waste of time???

One thing I wanted to mention was about the heel on the tip, this is important to have that right, so your graver bit glides nice across the metal and does not just dig in to deep, this helps control the depth of your cut.

Cholo,s and also lowriders sometimes have a lot of engraving done on them . Great watching this it’s something I’m also very interested in learning 😊

Engraving tips are generally pointed , your machine sounds it has tha power to engrave, great video good luck..👍👍👍🇦🇺

Can't add or give advice on the engraving, except what I've seen done on firearms. I'm sure with you problem solving skills you'll find a solution. As always great content Mario.

Try a shorter hose should work , awesome idea and definitely an interesting little project 👍

No need dpr a engraver .. make / buy some chissels . Amd a little hammer. ( yes takes for ever . But doable)
Already set this thing up so wouldn't mind figuring out how to finish it so I don't waste money, but as a last resort a hand graver might be an option. Thaaaanks
I think you would be good at engraving given you have a background of tattooing so I dont think it’s your technique😂might just need some tweaking on your invention🤔maybe go have a look at an engravers set up?check their guns out,chisels and connections?…I think you should engrave the blue one as it’s already got the bars n pipes to look like a baby-cholo…give it some more bling in the paint too😜Whatever you do keep doing it man!..Good luck n good to see you back safely!🙌😎🦅

have you looked at a DREMEL electric engraver. I got one for $43-00 at Mitre 10
Yes I got one of those and for some parts that's useful. But for others not as you don't get s smooth lines with it as with this kind of pneumatic graver

Hey glad to hear from you, I was pretty sad when I thought that I was not going to be able to make contact with you, as it looked like UA-cam was taking off my message to you, and I could not understand why? I was noticing you do tattoo work, and I was going to say when you do a tattoo on someone you want a nice sharp needle and not a dull needle right, so when you are engraving it is the same you want your graver bit to have a nice sharp tip to make good smooth cuts, so your work looks great on your HD Sportster.
