WATER PERMEABILITY TEST OF CONCRETE AS PER IS 516 (Part 2/Sec 1) : 2018 & DIN 1048 Part 5

Water permeability test determines the resistance of concrete against water under hydrostatic pressure. This permeability test should be considered the dominant test to evaluate the case whereby concrete is subjected to hydrostatic pressure.

This type of content in the laboratory concrete is important to see because of several water to cement (w/c) ratios were we can made and then, physical and mechanical properties of hardened concrete including porosity, permeability, compressive strenght, tensile strenght and flexural strenght BUT in all w/c ratio, a similar trend was observed in the compressive, tensile and flexural strenghts of concrete containing RHA AND FIBERS FOR GREEN BULIDING. The use of various FIBERS IN CONCRETE AND MAKING FIBROUS CONCRETE called FRC is an ~ EFFECTIVE STEP IN PREVENTING THE EXPANSION OF MICRO-CRAKS AND COMPENSATING TENSILE STRENGHT WEAKNES OF CONCRETE~. It is good to see laboratory work as well as in important characteristics of FIBROUS CONCRETE to reduces many characteristics but in general, THE FIBERS IN THE PERVIOUS CONCRETE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE PERMEABILITY WHAT WE CAN IMAGINE IN YOURS VIDEO PRESENTATION.

Actually , you are not seeing the whole video with interest , in this test there is no calculation . Only we had to measure the depth of pentration after splitting the cube .

Sir, how much time we have to give for wait after splitting of cube? While DIN 1048 part-5 is saying "When the split faces show signs of drying (after about 5 to 10 minutes).............established". Please suggest sir it's very confusion.

Not allowed for mortar specimen , this test is meant for hardened concrete.

There is no specification for mortar cube , but we check the seepage for mortar plaster , when cement plaster is mixed with water proofing material
