...Frank joining John Shannon in blowing Matt and Blake's minds arguing that the "Elias situation" is not, in fact, a situation.

They want it to be a problem so bad just so they have some generic shit to talk about and they don’t care if it runs Elias out of town to get it

The Vancouver sports media thrives on speculation. When it's not a situation they can't fill hours of sports radio airtime with it. Media is playing the passionate fan base in this town like a fiddle year after year with speculation content. Don't have a situation? Create one! That said, I will say that Elias is to blame too- he could put this speculation to bed fast with a strong statement. Then the media would move on to a new speculative airfiller.

I agree…the Canucks want to see it again with Petey. And that’s potentially smart. I’ve been saying this in my videos

80'S & 90's Rick Tocchet was the icon for what the average Canadian men believed in; hard work, develop your talent, but most importantly be tuff and always defend and fight for your teammates. His amazing Mullet didn't hurt the image either lol

Agree with Frankie on the Pacific depth. Also had 5 pegging the playoffs, Calgary is still a mystery to me can they score? Kraken could easily fall down a bit, so it's ripe for the boys to claw their way in. Vegas a Cup hangover? Probably not with that D core, but one can hope.

@@dougstewart3243 4 teams that won recently huh? We iced practically a full AHL squad vs Calgarys full team pretty well. Not hanging nothing on one game, but Tocchet should have had a better balance

Am I the only one who sees Myers constant mistakes? How does media say he would be good as a 3rd pairing when a guy like hirose hasn't coughed up the puck once in his 7 games while Myers has 3 cough ups every 7 games.

I dont think it has anything to do about money, doesnt mean Vancouver has given a 12m contract on the table. I think its all about being a competetive team. If they dont play well he is gone

Petterson is gone. And I don't blame him. I blame ownership and it doesn't matter what management has the helm . They all have been disfunctionate. Trevor linden nailed it but hit a wall with ownership. They should of done a rebuild. And Vancouver would be coming around right now like Ottawa and next year Montreal. If you been at a job that is crap and is going nowhere with your talent. Would you not want to bolt and play elsewhere. If I were Kent Hughes of Montreal. I would gear up and get ready to trade for Petterson. They have tons of talent, prospects and draft picks stored to make the push. When the team will contend for the Stanley cup .Next season. Vancouver for the next 5 seasons look to draft 12-18 overall. A maybe team to make the playoffs year in year out .

To be fair, Linden hired Benning which wasn't a good fit

Pre-cap, you could just pull a Messier and overpay a player to get or keep them. Because of the cap, chances are, Pettersson could probably get as much playing with an American contender as with the Canucks. Yes, Vancouver is gorgeous, and if you’re Canadian, playing here means something to some players. But Pettersson has no ties to the city or country and his lack of success here from a team perspective wouldn’t change that. He knows the Canucks are never going to be flush with cap space and I’m sure after this season, there would be a number of teams, especially with the cap going up, willing to pay him what he’s looking for, including teams that are considered contenders who would likely be willing to clear cap space to make the numbers work. He has very little incentive to sign here long term. If he won’t go long term at the end of the year, signing him to a 1 year deal is suicide. If the season doesn’t go exceptionally well, he’s not staying. He wants to win. Obviously this management group isn’t exactly proactive, but I’d look at moving him. I know ownership wants playoffs, but at what cost?
