    Lu nga def baax na. I'm looking for an intermediate level Wolof course. All I've found up to now is for beginners. Can you please create one with rather long and complex phrases? That would be the first in the world! Jërëjëf!

    This is really helping me, it is all so clearly explained. I'm having lessons, but needed a bit of extra help as Wolof is so very different to my other languages. I hope you do more of these, you're a great teacher.

    Your videos are very helpful...I'm learning Wolof but don't like to bog my friends down with too many questions, lol. I will be visiting the Gambia this fall. I hope to one day be fluent.

      Thank you Avi, I am glad they were helpful. Best of luck learning Wolof, just bother them with questions :), I am sure they will like it and help you out. Safe trip to the Gambia. You can build it faster than you would think, because the immersion in the cultural context can challenge you to to try to find your way out and by doing so you will be able to turn your challenges into good learning experiences.

    Omg! Do you still teach? I’m here with my children. It’s time for me learn. This is the easier I’ve ever seen any one teach Wolof. 😢

    How close is Wolof to Mandinka?

    Is 'ndax' for yes or no with an explanation?? Whereas 'deedeet' or 'waaw' are simply 'no' or 'yes'....

    • @morgueye1242
      @morgueye1242  6 років тому +2

      Avi Fatou Ndiaye, thank you. Yes I think that's what it is. The word "ndax" can be used in two contexts (or at least that's what I know :) ). 1- as a response to a question with WHY (ndax = because), and 2- as a question structure in a yes/no context. It's the second context (the question) that triggers the "Waaw" or "Deedeet". Examples: Ndax bëgg nga ceeb? [Do you like (to eat) rice?] --> --> Waaw, bëgg naa ceeb. [Yes, I like rice]. --> --> Deedeet, bëgguma ceeb. [No, I do not like rice.]

    Lutah instead of lutax,for English.x
    Is in French for h.

    • @morgueye1242
      @morgueye1242  6 років тому

      Thanks Kunta Kinteh. Do you mean that 'lutah' would be the way to pronounce it? For what I know, Wolof does not have the 'h' sound. Meanwhile, there is a dialectal use of the letter 'x' pronounced like 'h'. I might be wrong though.

    • @Touraya5
      @Touraya5 6 років тому

      If I was to pronounce the word as in English x,ha or is it a silent x,you might be right,so please help me out here.

    • @ASLmom

      It’s more like “kh” not just “h” it’s a throat sound that does not exist in English or French. Arabic has it though. You can’t just change the way it sounds. You have to say it like you are trying to clear your throat
