No ... you're the GOAT for watching my videos and telling me they make sense and have helped! I am so pleased to read that you're now smashing crashing!! If you can now pay it forward and advertise the heck out of this channel and www.maffsguru.com I would be most grateful. If more teachers (and schools) used my videos, I think a lot more people would understand Maths :) Wishing you the very best for the rest of the exam season!
These are updated solutions to the video I posted recently. Fingers crossed these are now all correct! It appears the edit for 1c didn’t carry over. I’ll update them again when I get time.
You are more than welcome! Thanks for taking the time in making a comment. I really appreciate it. Wishing you the very best of luck with the exam today!
For question 1c, shouldn't it be 29% instead of 20% as it was asking for the number of boys who had dominant left hand, and not the girls, so you wouldn't count the girls? thanks!
Yes indeed. I stupidly redid the video and forgot to splice in the updated question. But I will add an errata to let people know. Thanks so much for the message!
Heyy MaffsGuru thanks for another superb video! At 24:14 you are using the value of r provided in the previous part of the question and not the unrounded value. That is what VCAA did as well so do you recommend we always use the value they give us? because I get a different answer when I use the unrounded value Thanks!
Hi and thanks so much for your comment. So .. this is always going to be an interesting one. As far as I tell my students, you always use the answer from the previous part unless told otherwise (or given a different value). That being said, it;s simply something I state. Whilst I don't work for VCAA or have anything to do with the assessing of the paper, I would hope that VCAA would have accepted both 41.0 and 41.1. I do know, that on occasion, they do accept more than one answer but this is never stated in the examiners report. Wishing you the very best of luck tomorrow and Monday! Please let me know if there is anything more I can do to help.
What a really kind thing to say. They easiest way (which might help you too) is to subscribe to www.maffsguru.com. $20 for the year. However, there are two things I'd prefer more. The first is for you to smash your exam :) The second is to spread the word about my channel and website. So few people know about it and it's hard to get the word out. Telling your teachers too would be great. I offer really cheap access to schools so they can help their students in the best way possible. Anyways, thanks once again for your kind words. It really does mean the world to me.
For question 3a on Networks towards the end, wouldn't the answer be 20 days as the minimum time to complete the project? Start, C, J, L, Finish? 6 + 12 + 2 = 20? Just checking, thanks!
The minimum completion time is the critical path. The critical path must be the longest path from the start to the finish. B > E > G > H > K > L is the longest path, and is therefore the critical path at 24
For finance question 8b, your answers matches vcaa but what I found if that you know how it was 650.000012352, so if you include all those decimal places in your calculations and not just take 650 and times it by 1040, you get ur final answer as $211505.51, instead of $211505.50, and since according to many teachers your only meant to round at the very end and hence include all decimal places in your working, shouldn't the answer be $211505.51? Both you and VCAA got $211505.51.50 so i'm not fully confident but I still feel the answer should be $211505.51, please correct me if i'm wrong
The VCAA answers are an "interesting" topic of conversation. They generally only print one answer in their examiners reports but I know for a fact that, for some questions, they will accept more than one. I would imagine the question you gave above would be a point in case. I tell my students to round to two decimal places for answers, but use the full answer for subsequent calculations. However, if they tell you to round to two decimal places in an answer and then use that answer in later parts, you would be advised to use the rounded answer. It's all a little vague to be honest. I really wish VCAA would release the full mark scheme for each exam and then we would ALL know what was accepted and what wasn't.
hello, with the method you used at the very end for crashing, I'm finding it hard to believe I will be able to do all that and finish on time:( do you think it is possible?🙂
Hi Louise. I’m sorry to say that the questions at the end of each section are designed to take some time. They are differentiators. Meaning they are there to stop people getting the 50s. The fastest people (and most accurate) are the ones who find the time to do these. They are also the ones who have practiced the heck out of these types of questions so they can do them quickly. Just practice all the end questions and try and do them quickly but accurately.
@@queenoko719 Hi! I do have a video on crashing and it's been updated for a new way I have learned and it makes much more sense. Still time consuming though! You can watch it on www.maffsguru.com/videos/crashing-updated/. I'm sorry to say that this video is behind a paywall ... as it costs me a fortune to develop, create and host these videos. I hope you don't mind. Wishing you the very best of luck in the forthcoming exams.
Wishing you the very best of success for this exam!!!! I hope you come out and feel proud of your achievements this year! And please spread the word about my channel and website if you could!
Hi. Sorry for the length of time it has taken to reply. I don't think this is correct. I've checked the VCAA answers and they state, "Reduce A by one day, B by two days and K by two days" which will give the answer of $1900.
I always reduce by one at a time. There is nothing to be gained by reducing B by 2 at the start as I am looking to reduce by 1 to turn the critical Path (at 24) down to the next highest number at 23. Hence I reduced B by 1. In doing it this way I might find that I can take B down by 2, but this wouldn't have been obvious at the start. I hope this helps. I have been tricked by questions like this before and now tell my students to do one at a time to make sure you don't get tricked! Particularly when there is cost involved.
Sadly not! And it's driving me up the wall. I keep finding questions like this and I can't seem to find a way to make it work every time. I'm still trying though!
Hi. Thanks so much for your comment and kind words. I am trying to find the time to do the solutions to the Sample Exams. Hopefully I will be able to do it next week. Wishing you the very best of luck!
Hi. I don't believe it is. I've looked over the video and it's asking for the shortest distance of the journey that starts and finishes at the dam and visits all flowers gardens. This means you need to travel around and find the shortest distance. I don't see how this really has anything to do with Hamiltonian Cycles. Sorry :(
Hi again. I thought I had answered it using the CAS. Or are you meaning I could have solved the determinant using CAS? I like to show the way which most people would use, but there are others who might try other ways. Having checked the CAS, it will also solve determinant questions :)
The correct answer? Who knows at this time. But the people who I work with to check my answers, and I, believe the correct answer is as shown on the video at $1900.
Thank you so much for your Crashing algorithm. It finally helped me successfully Crash for the first time. Maffs Guru you're the GOAT!

for the first question part c is 2/7 as three of the students are girls and the question is asking for boys

Nope because BEJL, you need to reduce by 2 from 22->20 which you dont do w this @@tomunder9590
