"What are these made of, dice?"
This man might be my new favorite guest, haha.
kingofbudokai I lost it when Steve said that. So funny.
That was my favorite line in Spellslingers hands down.
I've never laughed so hard at anything on this show before
Damn that was a good one
That shit had me rollin lol hahahaha
"I'm not really hurting him, I'm just kind of stopping anything from happening."
Mono blue in a nutshell.
I saw Day 9 hosting the PC gamer thing and remembered this show. I'm surprised to see it dead. Bring it back!
"I was raised a Catholic, I ws trained at supressing guilt"... MY... SIDES...
shots fired
I just came to comment the same thing. I spit my drink out. Wasn't expecting that
I love that Steve fucked with the WoF. I think he's the first guest to have done that.
At least on camera. I recall one time they mentioned that they jokingly "absolutely got that on the first try" when some guest a while back got his favorite color/deck. Probably happens a lot, to make for more interesting deck matchups.
I felt like they wanted to give him the easiest deck. That Mono White list looke like it could fit that.
Well he did have permission to spin it any way he wanted.
That was hilarious. Had me dying.
I like how this show has become "Sean loses at magic to people who have never really played magic"
The wheel has spoken
See, kids? Don't do your math, you'll win anyway.
Math is a hard drug, don't do it kids, or else you'll end up on the streets as engineers! ;__;
I have some engineer friends. Women look at them like they are homeless...
If you ignore the odds, the odds disappear.
Math is for blockers
Caleb m
spoken like a true red player
"what are these made of dice?" Legend. Really fun show!
So sad to watch Sean’s chances of a comeback slip away like a D20, so sad.
Sean's odds of winning are probably made of dice
Bryan Smith my whole thing was why Sean why?? Lmao🤣
Seans life seems to be dictated by a loaded die.
this game was fucking epic
Best one yet can’t stop laughing! Never stop, I repeat NEVER STOP SPELLSLINGERS! This shows needs to last forever
On this episode of Sean loses at Magic - Sean draws cards and unwillingly falls in love with blue.
England just got knocked out of the world cup, but at least I got a new episode of Spellslingers to cheer me up! Thanks Sean and Steve that was awesome. I'm just getting back into magic after years off and there's no other show out there playing casual magic that explains what each card does and captures the fun that is two friends enjoyind a relaxed game of cards. Us new players love this show!!
That was likely the best episode of spellslingers! I was in stitches for half of this!
One of the better spellslingers episodes! It was great adding a bit more sound effects and music to the overall video. But I still would like more (something that's just iun the background).
Great job guys, keep up the good work
Get Matthew Mercer on here please , would be the best episode.
And then get Roy Mercer on the show.
im so happy Sean's back into the magic community again, where he truly belongs!!
This is a cool reminder that in general, MTG has one of the most welcoming fanbases for new players :)
Tempest and a Computer "Oh you're new? Here's 3 boxes of cards, 1000 sleeves and my DCI number. Nah it's fine, wasn't using them anyway."
If Sean played Wil, is there a way the could both successfully lose?
They would find a way.
Wholly Mindless Loss, uuhhh, finds a way.
I'm sure one of them would draw the hitherto unknown black card, Mutually Assured Destruction.
Nah, they should play a 2-headed giant game with fraying omnipotence, a card that immediately causes both teams to lose the game when played in 2-headed giant.
Technically Fraying Omnipotence causes a draw in 2HG which also causes a new game to be played. Since 2HG is first to 1 win and not best of 1.
Whoever is editing these videos is doing an amazing job.
4:14 - Would totally buy some Steve Agee special edition cards that ARE, in fact, made of dice.
Please never stop making these!
Good back and forth and great commentary guys! Sean funny as ever and Steve was great!
This show and Tabletop is the only two reasons why I come too Geek and Sundry.
I think the wheel of fate must be rigged to give Sean blue every time.
You noticed during the wheel of fate Steve also pushed that to get pure white right?
he clearly loves blue
I'm honestly fine with that. Sean's expression every time he has to play Blue is worth it.
i predict that sean getting blue on the wheel will be this seasons running theme.
@OniMalco uh... you'd have to be just straight-up not watching to have missed Steve stopping the wheel.
This was such a fun video to watch. Just seeing those large armies rise was hilarious. And then when Steve started to loose some life i was almost on the edge of my seat. That was a good game.
Steves joke about the cards when they started playing was hilarious! This is gonna be a great episode.
This was awrsome! I had so much fun watching the two of you.
I would love to see any one of these guests on this show:
Markiplier
The Professor (Tolarian College)
Jimmy Wong
Josh Lee Kwai
Will Weaton (if he could be convinced to play magic again)
Jacksepticeye
Conner Marx
Christine Sprankle
Laura Bailey
Patrick Rothfuss
Seth Green
Karen Gillan
Nika Harper
All those... and Ben Brode
quite a few good suggestions in there but ewww... Markiplier and Jacksepticeye?? I didn't think it was possible for someone to have the good sense to watch shows like this and Critical Role and Dr. Who while still liking the incredibly infantile styles of people like Markiplier and Jack, they both make me want to vomit.
To each their own. The fact is they are both popular within the internet community and both have a massive following, so a video featuring either of them would generate tons of views for this channel.
I think the goal of the show is to bring people that are famous for anything else than MTG but who have a interest in it. It's actually very good to see the game is somewhat very accessible to "new" players.
Great list I would like to add
Jim Parsons
Simon Helberg
Kunal Nayyar
Melissa Rauch
Mayim Bialik
Kaley Cuoco
yall have no idea how glad i am you that you brought back plott and spellslingers. i unsubbed when it got cancelled.
made me resubscribe when i saw season 4! grats
No need to sub, just watch Spellslingers and youtube will recommend new episodes for you without having all the G&S stuff.
true enough, but like alot of youtube, it's not foolproof reliable.
i also subbed as a sort of... reward for managing to bring the series back. if my rec box gets flooded with D&D stuff, i'll just unsub later on. its a love hate relationship.
Woohooo more spellslingers with SEAN!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!
Arghhhh, whenever I watch Day9 play MTG with his friends, it reminds me of all the FNM tournaments I went to as a kid and how much fun it was!!!
When they added the +2/+0 it also added first strike but they forgot
This episode was a rollercoaster. I LOVED IT.
if Ajani's Pridemate said 'whenever you gan life, put a +1/=1 on Ajani's pridemate for each life gained this way." that thing would be swole.
Steve with Dan Harmon on Getting Doug With High was really a blast to watch as well.
I love the fact that you can hear people laugh in the background when Steve dropped the dice at 3:20 x)
Love these! Old time revised and 4th player here. Might be getting the magic hunger back.
"What are these made of? Dice?" - Laughed so fucking hard... haha
I cannot wait for the bloopers
Cant wait for the out take reel on this one
3:18 take in that joy spreading background laughter when they cut to Steve's cam; you may not 've noticed the first time 'cause, you sir, were laughing to hard yourself
19 turns. That's pretty much what I expected from a White vs Blue match.
This is by far the funniest/fun episode of Spellslingers 😂 steve is the man
This might be the best one yet.
And I wonder, when are you going to invite the Tolarian professor?
Just wondering, is it a coincidence that the blue wizards in Dominaria are "Tolarian?"
What?
Like the Tolarian Scholar from Dominaria - was that named after that Tolarian College youtube channel.
Uh, you do realize that Tolaria isn't a real place, nor does it have a real community college that The Professor works at, right? The professor named his channel after the academy for wizards in Tolaria that features prominently in the MTG story. So "Tolarian Scholar" isn't exactly a specific reference to the professor, it's just a rote inclusion given that the set has a wizards theme, and there is a prominent school for wizards there (i.e., we would have already known since the mid 90's that there must be "Tolarian Scholars" on Dominaria).
Once they printed the card, I'm sure they noted the nice connection with The Professor, hence them giving it to him as a preview. But he's named after the prominent part of MTG lore.
No, Hun, the channel is named after a college in Dominaria. Tolarian College. Then the professor was creating a channel for tips for magic players and decided to call it Tolarian Community College
One time I was playing a blue deck, and was in the single digits with my opponent at 20 health. I had about 15 land, but no creatures, while my opponent had 7 creatures. I managed to get some insane card draw and held out until I got mass manipulation. I stole all but 1 of his creatures and won with 1 health left.
Blue is for the faithful
This is the first time I've watched a long UA-cam ad to the end. Sean, Danny Trejo and Patton Oswalt in an MTG Arena ad? It shouldn't work.
I have not laughed that hard in a long time, that first 5 min was pure gold.
As always super funny keep em coming
Seriously love this!
Another good vid. Great content, G&S. Keep it up!
King Shark is Outside Dave??? I'll never look at Outside Dave the same again
I was gonna set up a character sheet for d&d for my brother then this was posted.
he put the planeswalker on the battlefield upside down and they edited that shit out so fast lollllllll
This is very entertaining! Thank you!
This should come up every set release
I NEED MORE OF THIS.
Anyone else come from the news that he was cast as King Shark in the new suicide squad movie
366th. Still want someone from critical role on this show.
agreed
I definitely feel like Taliesin would be down if he had the time.
That would be so much fun.
Still want Day9 to come on Critical role too. I'm sure he would be a great bard :D
Persnidegetron Torbisher needs to live!
Just level with us Sean; Are you going to get not-blue at any point during this season?
Steve is really good at this -particularly for a new player! :D
Actually, while not bad, and definitely is picking it up at a really good pace, his play wasn't anywhere near what would be considered "good". He just played his cards, followed the game rules, and saw what happens.
Don't get me wrong, understanding the game rules is the biggest hurdle for a new player, but the gameplay here was decidedly new-player level, with little to no consideration of the outcome of his game actions (eg. attacking with all without thinking about which of his creatures would die).
Thanks! Good job, Steve!
This was a great episode.
That ajani deck is pretty good. Recently modified my Tezzeret Deck so it could perform and have a solid early turn play style.
I'm new to this series, and I've watched a bunch of episodes now......... has he ever won? I've not seen a single episode where he wins.
The first accurate showing of this show's skill level.
Longest game yet! They were very balanced decks for sure!
First time Steve swung in with everything I can understand, but the SECOND time!? It hurt me inside
Give him a break. He is a pretty new player and didn't care to do the math. I honestly think Sean should have won after such a big mistake from Steve, but that's how it goes sometimes. Obvioulsy the second swing was a big mistake, but those mistakes are what lets us grow as magic players.
Another fantastic video! This is one of my favorite series on the Internet
Hahahahaha his spin made me cry hahahaha
So at 7:01 Sean decided not to attack, but when playing a mono white deck it often wants to keep its creatures around for buffing the team, so shouldn’t Sean attack in offering the flyer for the gear smith or getting in 2 free damage? Also I know vid is old and I know it’s for new to game magic players
Ajani's pridemate gains +1/+1 each time you gain health, that's a buff each time you gain 1 health so the pridemate should have been a massive boi.
In that set, it was a may ability.
And it only triggers when you gain life, not for every life you gain.
And the streak continues!
Great episode!
No matter how excited sean gets for fighting a new player he still ends with the same result
Welcome to Magic, Steve.
I wish Sean could play with his big green men next episode.
What an awesome match! When is the movie coming out? XD
That stupid 1/2 bird killed me at prerelease
nani Jmcrofts the Dragon Ball Fighter Z player. The only other person I watch on the game besides Dotodoya. That JMCrofts????
Now, I've not been paying much attention to the M19 spoilers; but oh my, Mentor of the Meek is back... With the handful other cards I've seen, M19 draft could be quite a bit of fun.
E. A. Deasar went to the pre release. It's so fun
Damn I was really rooting for Sean to outplay him
I'm confused at 10:49 can anyone just attack any card now? I thought the attacks were directed at the players and if the deffender wanted could block.
Was there a change that allows you to attack a card now?
The card Day9 was attacking was a Planeswalker card. Planeswalker to my knowledge are special in the sense that they can be attack by opponent's monster or spells. Just because the abilities they do with the +s and -s, can quickly change a game around. Like an quick example if Day9 wasn't allowed to do that, then in a couple turns Ajani's -7 ability allows him to make 3 1/1 tokens with lifelink on his endstep every turn. That would put the game in Steve favor and have blockers or massive hoard of attacker in a couple turns for life. Hopefully that was somewhat helpful. sorry if it wasn't!
Oh man I hope you could do something with the new commander product, it's a great format to get some screen-time. SEAN STOP WITH THE BLUE!
I was almost ready to get married when this video was posted, perfect timing guys!
Congrats
They stopped the wedding with Spellslingers?!
Does anybody object? "I do! There's a new spellslingers to watch!"
He is a great host!
How do they determine the balance of the decks? Is there a chart on the internet?
Day[9]: Oh, the sky.
The sky: Clash of Wills
Day[9]: Damn it!
Sean: I have played Magic for years, tons of experience, know the decks inside and out
Steve: I'm a noob. How do you play this game? Oh, never mind, I've won anyway.
Haha, loved the heart-shaped summoning power
drops the die.... rolls a 1... already love this guy
Steve looks like the kind of guy to play magic the gathering for a living
I would sub to a premium service that had more of these at a faster pace with some loved guests from tabletop AND serious games from real magic players.
also more than 1 game, like best of 3 and have really competitive decks that they shuffle before hand. Some of these games seem fairly stacked against Day9.
Hahahaha!
Blue-blue got out flied by the one bird!
Ironic
Of course they did. White has almost always had better flying creatures than blue. Whenever you have a "blue/white flyers" deck, MOST of the flying creatures are white. Blue is just there to control usually.
Mistake at 11:00 - Ajani would've only taken 4 damage, because Sean's white creature died, turning the Gearsmith Guardian back into a 3/5. Didn't make a difference in the end, as he would've died to the 6 damage next turn anyways, but still.
You mean blue creature? Shawn still had a blue creature on the field, look to the left.
Hey, this guy was in Harmonquest!
These videos miss me
And i think he liked to play blue seriously
This make me miss playing .. wish i could afford to again.
Chicago Music Exchange hoodie...respect!
Love artifact decks. Had a pure artifact deck that destroyed blue with the long play.
great, i love the montage
Are these decks all new or at least newer? (Like printed within the last few years?)
