    I fell in love with Martin guitars when I toured their factory in high school. I always wanted a D-18, but the price point is a bit difficult to justify with my limited skills. I recently purchased an E10D demo model at an amazing price and it is making the social distancing and isolation of the COVID-19 outbreak much more bearable. I honestly love the guitar for its own merits and don't feel as though I have settled. The tone and playability of the guitar are amazing. Here's hoping that each of us find that guitar that brings a smile to our face each time we pick it up. Cheers!

      Martin charge what they do because of the name, don't get me wrong, I love Martin's, but they are no better made than Eastman's, and if you was to get a Martin with the same quality wood and trimmings as a £1500 Eastman, you would be looking at spending upwards of £3000. Plus I love the Eastman tone, it's unique and amazing. I've always been a Martin guy, but I've got to admit I have the Eastman bug and have been truly converted to these amazing, highest quality hand built guitars.

      I bought an E-8D and don’t feel like I had to settle. It’s a wonderful guitar, I want a E-10d next, as I really love Eastman’s Mahogany.

    I own both a E10D and a E20D, really both are amazing. I think they sound and play great. People compare them to Martin because is the standard. They are similar just like the tons of guitar makers who use traditional methods. But Eastman has its own great sound and feel.

    I used to have an EastmanE10- ooss/v ....and I have played an AC522ce. The tone and action was pretty dang good, and the look was good too!.....I just could not seem to get down w/the neck finish/playability. I Was ab to pull the trigger on an AC522ce or AC722, but the glossy necks are too sticky. I liked the Eastmans, and the finishes are pretty amazing, but now I have a Taylor 322ce 12-fret and a Larrivee p-09 parlor(both of which have satin finish/quick n smooth necks)...I love both and may add an Eastman-e40om or a oo-12 fret, but I really think they need to customize the neck and make it satin, I almost had a guitar tech sand the neck of the Eastman to make it satin!

    Awesome video, you've earned a subscriber. Love the format - the way you took turns with lead vs. rhythm and dedicated the left channel to one guitar and the right channel to the other! I've not seen that done before and it worked really well. Also really enjoyed your jamming!
    My comments on the guitar comparisons:
    The cedar E2 is definitely a little warmer and sweeter than the E1, but both sound great
    The adi E10D is really punchy and "cuts through the mix". For this comparison, no need to use separate channels for the guitars - the E10D really stands out. However, I like the gentler tone of the E6 a little better. Personal taste. I just recently bought an E10D because they're so loud and punchy.

    Job well done..I love Eastman acoustic guitar. I got first my Eastman guitar its AC522CE and its surprised me with tone and feel. Its a big Wow for me. I never play a guitar like this with a very nice comfortable neck(A Traditional Even "C") and the tone is amazing..And I planning to have a Dreadnought one may be E8D or E10D. Thanks guys....more power to you...

      Contemplating myself of getting an E2D, I read reviews however that said Eastman in general had problems with the fretting. Have you experienced any problems with that? Like the frets standing out too much? Thanks!

    I have been watching/ listening to various Eastman videos and have been quite impressed. I think it will be my next guitar (E10SS). Unfortunately, I can't find a dealer. They do distribute here in the USA I hope.

    Regarding the playability of E1D, is it a comfortable guitar? comparing it to a Martin D-10, or a Taylor, how would you rate this guitar's neck? I ask this because I've seen some reviews where they say the arm is a little fat or too wide. I have medium sized hands, and playing comfort is a very important factor for me, besides the sound, of course! I thank the attention

  • @turrafirmaguitarchannel

    First thought the cedar top pushes out more mid range than the Sitka so the lead notes jump out a lot more. Sitka sounds thinner in the e1 e2 comparison.

    • @Itsme-vd3dx
      @Itsme-vd3dx 3 роки тому +1

      Sitka for heavy strummers and the cedar for fingerpickers.

    I got an AC422CE, an E20D-TC and an E10SS/v. All of them are stunning. When I bought the first one, the E20D-TC (E20D with a torrefied top), I had never heard of Eastman before. I put it up against the Furchs, Martins, Lakewoods, Gibsons in the shop. None of them sounded better, most significantly worse for my taste. The torrefication adds some layers to the sound that are incredible. The E10SS/v is just as spectacular. The antique varnish gives it some kind of really authentic vintage vibe and sound. Would love to hear your opinion on that model. Oh, and the AC422CE ain‘t no slouch eather :). For me, Eastmans aren‘t amazing for the money, but simply amazing. Full stop.

      n1vo Ive owned Eastmans, and I liked them but how did u find the glossy necks/playability? I didnt really like them...in fact they ruined the guitars for me and I got a Taylor/Larrivee.

      L Vegan Angel you can take that gloss back with fine sandpaper. I really like the feel of the Eastman necks in general. The gloss can be taken off easily enough - I mean in a good way! 😃

    This shows what I found after years of recording - mic placement, player attack, and skill level affect sound more than wood or price does.
    Most of what the player is hearing doesn’t correspond to the recording or audience sound.

    I liked the video a lot. only criticism I have is that I wish the a/b tests were done by the same person/ same mic/ same playing. ideally with hyperlink time stamps so a person can flip back and forth with a click and without our ears getting used to one too long. but fun to watch and all around good video

    E10 vs e6 the Sitka is sweeter. Maybe the player’s pick technique is making those notes pop a bit more too on the e6.

    The only complaints I see about the Eastman guitars are the frets. Some people say they are too high to be comfortable. Anybody?

    • @GroovesAndLands
      @GroovesAndLands 4 роки тому +1

      It's a non-issue for me. I've been wanting an E10D for "campfire jams" where I'm afraid to take my expensive Taylor 810 or Martin D28 - but nobody sells Eastman locally and I wasn't able to test drive one. I bought a Rainsong to leave the house with, but don't like anything about it - the tone, the sharp edges on the fretboard, the flat 20" fretboard radius, etc.
      That said, I was concerned about the Eastman's "tall frets", and it's tight 12" fretboard radius, and to a lesser extent, the string spacing at the nut and saddle as well as neck profile. I'm not very versatile and I'm just used to what I'm used to - I'm not very adaptable! Anyway, I bought an E10D and can barely feel any difference between my Taylor, Martin and Eastman. The Martin is a 1.75" nut "re-imagined" D28, and it's neck feels a little wider (not deeper, wider) than the other two, but that's splitting hairs. Otherwise, it's hard to point out anything between the three that is really very different (in terms of feel) at all.
      The Eastman's neck, frets, fretboard are all very accommodating to me. Feels great, plays great. Very happy with it. Hope that helps you out!

    You get what you pay for. I had an E2D-CD. I had fret issues with 2 Eastman guitars. They’re not bad for the money, but I ended up trading them in for a Gibson HP415 which I much more prefer. Totally different scale length & sound than the Eastman’s, but the quality control is much better since Gibson uses a Plek machine on the frets and they’re perfect.

    • @thefellowshipofacoustics
      @thefellowshipofacoustics  4 роки тому +1

      That's a fair point! But you will be paying more for the quality control at Gibson though, and every batch has its rotten egg ;)

    • @LegsON
      @LegsON 4 роки тому +3

      1. Plek isn't flawless.
      2. Gibson's QC is infamous.
      3. It's not manufacturer's fault you dislike the scale - both Eastman and Gibson have 648-650 long ones and shorter ones.
      4. If you had an issue with E frets and had none with G, it literally doesn't tell anything. We've all played both shit guitars and marvellous guitars from a single brand.
