Is everybody having fun yet? I love this corny video and the music and look of the early 1960's! Makes me want to go to a beach party, if only we could party like this on the beach any more. If only the kids of today were still this fresh and innocent. Anyway - Bobby Vee still rocks!
I am 57 years old. This is what was available to us at the time. We loved it!! Sorry if some find it offensive!!!! I was glad to have it in the 60's. Thanks for thinking of the old folks!!!!!!!!!
lol I have to agree with you. In 63 when this came out I was crasy in love with my high school sweetheart Lynn. She broke my heart. Oh well Life goes on. The night does indeed have a thousand eyes. They found the love of my life for the past 45 years. And yes I still think of Lynn from time to time.
What a great era. Just happened it was the era in which I grew up. The America of the 50s and 60s........we will never see that time again. More's the pity.
Love those bikes! My dad rented one on Daytona Beach in '66 for my brother and me.We've been hooked ,ever since, on two-wheelers.I always get Bobby Vee mixed up with Dion.Gotta love "Mack the Knife"!
Dancing with seaweed? Why haven't I ever thought of that?!! Throwing your legs up and down on a motorcycle? Wow, the choreography is simply brilliant!! LOL! Loved it for the cheesiness and what a catchy tune! Thanks, Bobby Vee and you girls keep shaking your rumps at the camera!
wow. I grew up listening to my dad's 45 rmp records and he had this. I love it and to hear it gain brings back memories of me as a kid playing this song and the other Bobby Vee 45 rmp record. Thanks for sharing. :)
I am damaged for life! They must have heisted the "bikinis" and those little pants on Bobby Vee from the MST3K favorite "Catalina Caper"! Thanks for posting! I love this song!
Hahaha.....nice shorts Bobby. I can see why he was considered a heart-throb back then. Great singer, good songs, and a clean-cut boy you could proudly take home to Mum and Dad :-)
Music still resonates today yet the vid looks like an homage to the planet of the teen apes on 'roids. it was never like that. Thx for the music, dearheart. Delightful flashback and genuinely happy memories.
283,925 little white lies, on ths the 13th day of march & it's a saturday...wouldn't you know it! Let's party with the BSB's, cause listening to this song just made for another little white lie, so now it's 283,926. Thanks for the party on the beach, i'm gonna boogaloo every saturday night to this video, so keep it posted.
Hahahah at one point I could see one of the boulder´s shadow reflected on the "night sky"... Hahaha!! But I reaaaaally dig that crazy go-go dancing!!! I wish I had lived in these times!!!
An all-time classic "Music Video" (before there was such a thing.) I can't count how many times I've seen the clip of the dude in the blue bikini dancing!
Beach parties of this sort weren't going on around here, where we have more beaches than ou can shake a stick at. At least I never heard of them & the drinking age was still 21 here in Vancouver Canada and whats more there was no places to hangout...no malls, Mcdonalds & no slurpees. Baseball cards, marbles and doowop on the radio(am only). kinda makes me think just how far we've come along...there are those things I miss about the good ol' days like no sunday shopping & alot of bobby vee hits
THE GIRL DOING SCISSOR KICKS ON THE BIKE IS FABULOUS! As is the adorable Bobby Vee with his hair blowing when he's on his hog in the beginning, and that tease of a jacket unzipped JUST far enough. Just enough to be Too Hot. But the girls. The girls. One of them is dancing with a KELP BOA for heaven's sake...
I did a radio interview show with Bobby last month and he told me that the writer was unhappy because he sang "sorry" instead of "crying" during the last verse! Still it got to #3 on the chart.
Sixties Forever 1966, that year was far from perfect (I was there, too). But like you, I would go back in a New York minute! I was just thinking about this last night...about some of the things you mentioned. There are many times I wish the clock would have just stopped.
Oh my god this is hilarious and fabulous all at the same time. Great song, gorgeous guy but some of that stuff going on there is bizarre hahahaha So glad I found this - it's a keeper!
Bobby Vee was in Chile in the year 1980. Search in UA-cam DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL (Manuel Vargas) and you will see an honoring to the best music of all times.
I'm on a station outside of Philadelphia, WNJC-1360AM in Washington Township, NJ. Right now I am only doing the interview shows. Information about accessing them is on my profile.
The Girl on the Bike is a very young Patricia Smith who lives in spain now. She tells us she was 18 when this was filmed. She was working for a dance troup.
Ever notice a live performance by " anyone " just ain't the same, so though I didn't like his singing here, when I mute the sound the live scene is 100% fabulous, and the Vee looks great on a bike. He revs up the motor and I ain't just talking about the bike. Vroom, Vroom ! CHIPPER / FRISKY !
bobby vee has always been my top bobby from the doowop era. i love this video, never knew beach partys of this sort were going on back when. according to budway1942(1 week ago), Bobby vee is gay(first gay director. That's new to me, I knew of tab, elton, the bsb and others but bobby vee comes as a bigger surprize yet! By the way I have many of bobby records, bought 'em cause I enjoyed his music...walkin' with my angel /charms are 2 of my favorite by bobby..
Night of a thousand eyes what's a movie and I know Warren Beatty was in it it was amazing when you were a teenager I want to know how old I was but I caught this is so amazing song and I'll never leave my venue
I know what your're saying maxti6, and I believe you know just what I'm saying....to reassure everybody understands, if these young ladies in this video were not to have aged aday since this video was shot and were to reappear as is or in french bikinis, I'm sure they'd still draw alot of attention at the beach, for the simple reason their hot chicks to begin with. The one with her arms around Bobby is my favorite. Thx for posting a video that could of been taken last summer, it's that hot!
Watched this many times as a kid in the 60s & 70s on my parents' Scopitone. Interesting to see now-- late 20's/30-something women playing teenagers. That would never fly today. Fans would be like, "What's that mom doing in this One Direction video?"

My favorite song from one of the most underrated singers of the '60's.

Love those bikes! My dad rented one on Daytona Beach in '66 for my brother and me.We've been hooked ,ever since, on two-wheelers.I always get Bobby Vee mixed up with Dion.Gotta love "Mack the Knife"!
Wonderful and strange. Bobby's adorable. The blond chick looks like his mom. And the guitar looks huge. These scopitones are amazing. More Bobby!

Sixties Forever 1966, that year was far from perfect (I was there, too). But like you, I would go back in a New York minute! I was just thinking about this last night...about some of the things you mentioned. There are many times I wish the clock would have just stopped.

The video is from 1963 since the song The Night Has a Thousand Eyes became a hit that year.
@molly1246 Thank you!! The guys & gals in the clip are more gorgeous than so many of the young folks we see today.
Sleep well, and before you do, please enjoy an awesome trip through space! You will be missed so badly!
This video is pretty sexy for the time it was made haha, love it.
