Pray or practice with me as I chant the beautiful Gregorian chant, "Nos Autem."
Gregorian chant, rooted in the rich traditions of the early Christian Church, offers a unique window into the past, blending simplicity with divine elegance. This particular chant, "Nos Autem Gloriari," which translates to "But it behooves us to glory," has been sung for centuries as part of the Roman Catholic Liturgy. Historically, it serves as the Introit for both the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Holy Thursday, marking significant moments of reflection on the Passion and triumph of Jesus Christ through the cross, in whom "is our salvation, our life, and resurrection; through Him we are saved and set free" (Gal 6:14).
English translation:
But it behooves us to glory
In the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ:
In whom is our salvation, life and resurrection;
By whom we are saved and delivered.
Vs. May God have mercy on us and bless us;
May the light of His countenance shine upon us;
And may He have mercy on us.
