Anne is the QUEEN of grudge holding. In the book this scene happens 3 years after the “Carrots” incident. And she continues to not talk to him/be his friend for another 2 years. That’s FIVE YEARS. It says in the book at she forgave him in her heart when he saved her, but because of her pride she just refused to talk to him. I actually think she liked the rivalry with him. It was easier for her to be his rival who she wouldn’t talk to than to be his friend.
Anne was a world class jerk, and Gilbert had world class patience. Calling her "carrots" was not cool, but he immediately tried to take the blame for her outburst, for crying out loud. She *smashed a slate* over his head, screaming like a banshee at him, and he *still* didn't want her to get in trouble on his account. Pride or no pride, Anne was *horrible* to him, and the fact that Gilbert not only put up with it, but persisted in trying to win her over is a massive testament to his character.
And what about them getting together? Like... She was so stuborn with her "He's not a Prince charming" stuff that she almost lost him. Like it lasted 3 years as well if I'm right. Who does that?😂 It always cracks me up when I reread the books and I love Lucy Montgomery for that.

As much as we all want to say we would act differently, there are plenty of everyday spats and occurrences that we may never apologize for. Also to be fair... she is only about 13 here and she was already a really emotional girl haha. When I was that age and angry or upset about something, I cried and I hated crying in front of people so I would rather seem rude than burst into tears XD

The Sullivan production is the best by far.
Follows and Crombie were perfect in this adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. As was the whole cast. Quality is always a thing of beauty. Unforgettable.

My grade 5 teacher was obsessed with Anne of green gables and had the whole collection on DVD so every Friday towards the end of the day we would watch Anne of green gables and when we finished watching it (it would take a few months since we watched it in parts) we would start over.
I’ve seen many versions of Anne of Green Gables and the 80s version is my one and only favorite. I read all the books as a kid. It’s not that the others weren’t any good, I simply felt the 80s version captured the heart and soul of the novels and characters the best. I include the scenery as a character too. Next to Anne, the scenery is as much a part of the story as she is. Anyone who ever read LM Montgomery’s novels would agree. All the actors were perfectly cast, and let’s be honest, could there ever be a more perfect Gilbert Blythe than Jonathan Crombie?! I don’t think so. RIP Jonathan Crombie the good ones leave us too soon.
Johnathon Crombie & Meghan Follows will always be the perfect Gilbert & Anne in my mind. When I listen to the books on audio it’s their faces and voices that I hear. I am just sad that the producers messed the last movie up so much. I wish they’d have stayed true to script and made a movie for every book.

Seeing the clips from this version of Anne Of Green Gables and it's sequel brings back really fond memories for me. I got them on video as a Christmas present when I was a kid and would watch them all the time, I think a big part of the reason I loved these movies so much was that I could really relate to Anne as I was a lot like her when I was growing up.

some of you guys are comparing this movie to the recent remake of anne and it's making me cr*nge. the 1985 version of anne aswell books are not even alike with Anne with an E so it's not even fair to compare them. The director of Anne with an E never even planned to follow the books. it's supposed to be new in a way and involve important topics and new characters hence the theme song of anne with an e "ahead by a century" anyways i'm done ranting.

I just found out about this version after watching Anne with an E. Some rock I’ve been living under
Seeing the clips from this version of Anne Of Green Gables and it's sequel brings back really fond memories for me. I got them on video as a Christmas present when I was a kid and would watch them all the time, I think a big part of the reason I loved these movies so much was that I could really relate to Anne as I was a lot like her when I was growing up.
This version still reigns the best for me ♥️♥️♥️

yes... even if this series is closer to the book than the Anne with an e series, Anne with an e is much better designed and attracts many more people, in my opinion, than this series. Even if Anne with an e moves away from the book with more scenes and characters, it is much more interesting and keeps you much more in suspanse.
