    How's she goin'? That's a great looking arch!! And I really like your pan!!! The preheater will make a big difference in doing your sap. Nice too that you got the Natural Gas burners with the high BTU rating!!! I like that when you want to boil you just start it up and away you go. Then when you're finished you just shut down the burners and you can even leave the sap in the pan until the next time you want to boil. Not like a wood fire, where you have to take the pan off the arch incase the sap burns!!! This is a nice set up!!! I think natural gas, or for me here in Nova Scotia, propane is a better way to go for a small operation!! Good luck this season!! Take care!!

      @@Tyler_Koehn Yes I do!!! Not a lot, about 25 taps most years. I have a small flat bottom pan, about 18 inches square and use a 50K BTU propane burner. I like maple syrup time, its sign winter's over and summer is on the horizon!!!

    This is a fantastic build and I enjoyed following along. Did you have to clean up the cuts with the plasma or did it cut clean? Looking forward to seeing it in action. Take care

    • @Tyler_Koehn
      @Tyler_Koehn  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Joseph! With the thin gauge and straight edge it cuts it very clean, they lay in the angle iron so the edges are hidden as well. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks Dave! This footage was actually from last year so that was a wheeler I was fixing up to sell. What a beast those 1000cc can-ams are. Kind of regret getting rid of it but it's not really practical for slow riding/work. Thanks for watching!

    what size wheels did you use and where did you get them?...also what size axle shaft were the wheels and also can you send a link for the electric ignition you used?...thank you

    • @Tyler_Koehn
      @Tyler_Koehn  2 роки тому

      Those wheels were just the cheapest I could find in all honesty. Bought them at menards if I remember correctly. The axle size is just based on the the wheels you're able to find cheapest. I believe in this case it was 5/8ths inch. One thing to not is buy a cold rolled rod as that will be more accurate than a hot rolled as the diameter will change slightly in the cooling process. Very nice job. Any issues with the white insulating heat resistant material? Does it seem to withstand the high heat of your burners? Seems to be much simpler solution than firebrick. Would you recommend this insulating material? If so,how did you attach it to the sides?, and could you please provide a link to purchase? Also would you recommend having the chimney if you were to build another? Or do anything different if you were to build a second evaporator? I am looking to build something like this for my 2x4 flat pan so would appreciate any advice,suggestions,modifications etc. Thanks alot

    • @Tyler_Koehn
      @Tyler_Koehn  3 роки тому

      Thanks Chris I appreciate that. Yea the fireblanket works great. From what I understand the reason for using the firebrick is so the insulation does not get damaged by the firewood being tossed into the firebox. I attached it with stainless steel wire. Crisscrossed and seems to be plenty sturdy as the insulation is quite dense. One thing I would change is putting a damper in the stove pipe and seeing how it helps or not for that matter. I wanted the pipe thinking to bring fresh air up for combustion and to wrap copper pipe around to feed the preheater with warm sap (I'm sure you've seen this on others setups). My only problem is it's way oversized for the number of trees I do thus I just built a small natural gas turkey fryer as you'll see in the latest video I put out.
