Ahhh! I was the one who rescued her!! We named her Lemon when we found her. A friend of my mom's was the one who told us about this foster kitty mom!!! I'm so happy to see she's doing well 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Hi there! I am so glad that you found her! She is absolutely amazing, as you can see from the video--so smart and loves to learn! I have rarely seen a cat with such enthusiasm and no fear. When Helen brought her to me she was soooo tiny, but even then she had loads of attitude and would boss the bigger kittens around. I'm thrilled that you saw the video of how well she is doing! xoxoxo Caroline
Well... He doesn't eat in thekitchen, but the living room :D I ended up building an outdoor-but indoor... thingy (You know those... where they can be in fresh air, without being out in the free? No idea what they are called)
I think that's the reaction you'll get from most cats! All but one we've had do the same thing so we don't push the matter. We've always had indoor kitties who seem content that way.
The reason why I wanted to walk him, was because I'm used to outdoor cats from back home. So when I got him, I thought he would be most happy with that (Since it wasn't an option for him to be outdoors by himself). But you are right. He seems pretty content with it. More so, than when I tried walking him
Always distract a cat with toys or food when it is wearing a harness. Just standing & observing won't help the situation, the cat will get more annoyed with every second. So distraction is the key to success. I walk my 2 cats outside, they are leash-trained, but I trained them to follow off-leash...so they don't need the leash anymore. (except when dangers come like dogs) But I always walk them in nature, not in the city. I avoid mostly main trails in forests or any road which a lot of people visit. You can look into my channel, there you can see how I do it.
Many years ago we had a cat that would walk on a leash perfectly, just like a dog. He was a very smart cat oozing with personality. We've never tried training other cats. We didn't train our leash walker. He took to it with no instruction at all. A cat's vision is so sharp I doubt Lolita will be greatly handicapped by the loss of one eye. She seems to be doing fine. Thank you, and all cat lovers, for all they do for cats, big and small. A shout out to Big Cat Rescue, in Tampa, FL, too. :-)
I have a rescue kitten booked for adoption, and a harness on order. Now I’m just impatiently waiting for her to get fit enough to meet me 😊 (she’s underweight but recovering fast). I lost my 2y/o boy this year, and it was devastating. I promised myself if I get another cat, I’ll adopt and save a life, because I couldn’t save his.
Awe... I rescued my two babies Nana and Tiger my baby Nana was rescued by an old Japanese woman but her other cat was bullying her. Nanas tail was kinked but I still loved her! Tiger was the cat I got with my grandpa we got him at a shelter.. I unfortunately had to get rid of tiger this year and Nana died 3 years ago...
My childhood cat who I had for 19 years passed away last year 😔 I was never able to train him on a harness once I realized that was a thing because he was too old and stubborn. However this weekend I’m adopting a new kitten and I’m so excited to start early and train him now while he’s still developing and learning at a rapid rate. I also bought a cat backpack..... I’m so ready to be a cat mom again 🥺
Hi Dennis, thank you for the nice comment! Lolita is now a full grown cat who lives with a family who ADORE her. They send me photos occasionally! xoxo
Wow! What a Great Video. I once leash trained a Siamese Female, Bogger the Cat, and so I know that all your Advice is spot on. Walking a Cat is a kind of Partnership. It is Much Easier if you let the Cat lead the way. Going Back Home sometimes is tough, unless it begins to rain and then YOU have to run to keep up. Bogger, when asked to start heading home when she really wanted to keep going, would reluctantly go about 20 feet and then stop and dig in, and I would have to say “Come on, let’s go home” about 3 times, and then she would consent to go another 20 feet and then stop again. If I was in a hurry I could pick her up and carry her ( Never Drag a Cat!), kissing her the whole time to placate her. Oh, it was the funniest thing, that IF another person appeared from anywhere In Sight, then Bogger would become instantly agreeable and stride out and head home like we were in Perfect Accord. Apparently she was very conscious about Appearances when it came to the Neighbors. Oh and then the Neighbors would be so amazed that I could walk a Cat, and I would never tell them that it only works well when you let the Cat Lead the Way… they thought I was Leading! (thank God that Cats LOVE sidewalks). Those were some Good Times. Maybe the Most Fun you can have with Cat. But, like I said, you have to treat it like almost an EQUAL Partnership. After a year or two it seems like You and the Cat are using the Same Mind - it is as though the Cat sees you as an Extension of itself. It’s a Great, Warm and Close Feeling.
Very helpful video. Our new rescue baby is so full of energy, I can't wait to start training her and get her (and me) some much needed exercise outside our tiny apartment!
I'm so glad you liked the video! Leash training is great for kitties who live in apartments, and it's amazing how the really can learn to walk on a lead.
I just rescued my kitten sushi 🍣! The people who had him at the start had "mean kids". As a result a tail twice broken and a fearless spirit. I sucks the way he got fearless but I'm going to turn it to lemonade! He cam explore the world with me and his big sister princess toadstool!😉
I love these am having a kitten is now three weeks old am gonna learn her hoe to be on a leache while I am keep him safely home a good time to start I think is when they are kitten thank you lady for learning us how to keep our kitten safe and still be able to go outside and get fresh AIR just like us god bless you lady.
HI!! So I have been watching your videos all day. I just got a feral cat named Hurricane and she has one eye~! I love that you have a slightly blind kitty that you are helping. That's exactly what made me fell for my little baby. Good for you for helping the kitties of the world who have disabilities. I know otherwise they would not make it very long.
Thanks so much for this video! Recently took in a stray. She's the first cat I've ever own'ed but I grew up with dogs. I know they're completely different, but I do know how to learn to read what animals are communicating. From what I've gathered from friends and strangers online, she's a Lynx Point Siamese. Everything I've researched supports that. She and I have already developed a great bond I know she has complete trust in me. She is super curious. I never had to worry about leaving doors open. As soon as I open any closet she comes running in to investigate. Being a stray, she's got plenty of experience outdoors. So long as nothing traumatizing has happened to her, I think she would love going for walks. I take walks every night and would love an excuse to drag em out a little longer. Hopefully anyone skips the first paragraph...great video, can't wait to get outside with my cat, definitely subscribing!
Sky, my 8 week year old kitten, sat next to me and was sooo focused on this, we watched over and over until she feell asleep. The binder clip is a perfect idea.
Oh she's amazing, I knew she was special the moment I started fostering her! I am still in touch with her adopter, and they ended up adopting a brother for her about a year ago. They love them SO much! Thanks for the comment!
This video is old but it worked! Thank you so much for making this, I really needed this for my kitten, Kiara. I took her with my dog and she did so well! Again, thank you so much! ❤
Great video , thanks for uploading. Your video seemed to be more realistic with step by step instructions including what to do if the cat has behavior issues concerning the leash. LOLITA is a BEAUTIFUL cat and the new owners will be happy with this one if not send her my way😚👍
Lolita is the cutest. I'm trying to leash train my adult cat oh boy.. lol he is slowly getting out of the catatonic phase. He's so dramatic its like he's drunk. He isn't walking with it yet but tolerating it being on, and i prop him up and say "lets walk" to his treats.
Yes, teaching the adults to walk is a little more challenging but if you take the time they can learn! And treats are a great incentive for our lazier grown-up kitties. Good luck! xoxox Caroline
I tried this with my cat and it helps alot! Although it is his first day learning, he did so much like following me with the leash on. To add to that, he is super comfortable with the harness. Even though he isn't the best with focusing, this strategy did so much in one day, thank you.
Imo you're pulling too often on the leash, which is almost unavoidable with that short leash. You don't let her sniff the stuff next of the roads and you only want her to stay on the road by pulling her towards you. I wouldn't do that. Get a longer leash and let her roam more freely. I use for my 2 cats an 8 meter long flexible leash. I also trained them to follow me, I don't walk behind or next to them. Since they do that nicely, I could train them to follow off-leash (we only go in nature, in calm areas) In my experience walking a cat off-leash is a lot better. (before that leash-training is necessary though) Then they can run around, climb trees and the human doesn't have to wait every time the cat stops and looks around. A lot more relaxed for both sides.
I'm harness/leash training my two kittens, we don't have much floor space rn with my foster kittens in a pen so we've been training the leash part out in my front garden with my door open so they can go in if scared. They're doing super well and are super comfortable in their harnesses but need a little food motivation to go down the stairs and out the door (they've not grasped that harness=walk time.) it's not normal in my country to harness train cats so we'll occasionally get people coming by and just absolutely losing it on how adorable they are especially as they're twins (not identical but nearly identical so I have 2 different colours for them pink and blue (not my first choice of colours but all my pet shop had) to be able to tell them apart) I think it's going to be very useful especially as I travel a lot and am planning to move abroad
A binder clip is what i was missing! It always slipped off my kitters leggies. Neveklr thought about using a binders clip! I have to use an XS dog harness but it fits her decently
What a wonderful video! You’re a great foster mom. We adopted Marmalade two weeks ago and she is also 4mo old. We already started her on a harness and a leash but we haven’t done much walking with it as of yet. Your video is really encouraging! Thank you
My kitten started walking on a leash yesterday, was a but scared but when I did it today he was si happy and was so crazy and loved it! I have no idea why he learned it so fast but I'm not complaining
Wow. Lolita sets a pretty high standard. I know, my two cats won't learn as fast (I'm not saying they are not smart... the older one is very shy and defensive, and I am completely new to training cats...) But seeing Lolita enjoying the outdoors, really motivates me to try it
loved the vid, but i do it a different way I put my kitten, Cosmo, on a starting place, like a garbage can or a small crate that he can jump off of, I'm teaching him come on, come back, and sit, he needs to jump from these things because it gives him that tiny boost of energy, and i reward him with shot glasses of food! it works very well! i always made sure he had flea drops before i took him out every month.
Awww...This little girl is the best. I just got an update on her from her new family yesterday, and she is doing great. Good luck with your little one eye kitty! Thanks for the comment!
So helpful I’m trying to do this with my kitten as she loves wearing jumpers (cat jumpers I make her) and I think she would like to travel on a leash around so this really helps me x
Sort of harness training my 2 year old cat, he is okay outside most of the time with the leash but he stays right up against the house and smells the grass and the flowers. After 5 mins he is ready to go inside, soon as we get inside he wants the harness taken off.
Hi Leslie! Looks like you are working your way up to your kitty being comfortable with being outside. Since cats are highly reactive and cautious animals the cat will be nervous at first as he takes in the new surroundings. Just keep doing what you're doing and take him out for short walks on the leash, and take him back inside when he gets anxious. Then add a few minutes each time. I bet he will work up to wanting to be out longer after he realizes there's nothing "out there" that will hurt him. Thanks for the comment!
I finalu found someone who doesnt use clickers! My kitten ebbi is doing so well on a leash! We go to the park and practice his social skills, all the kids go frequently to see him so hes used to it, were going the woods in a few weeks so hes coming with us, he has a jumper to keep him warm, hes a good boy, he learns quickly, it only took us 2/3 months to go outside!
What do you do if when you first put leash on cat dashes off running? My cat is fine with harness, but hates leash. I accept it can be long time or even never for him to accept leash. Usually when he runs off in house, I let leash go so it doesn't tug, and I watch to make sure it doesn't catch anything, and I take it off first chance I get. I use treats and all stuff I'm supposed to but cat just hates it
I sure love the idea of bringing my cats outdoors, but they're already adults (ages 2 yrs and 1 yr., mother and daughter). Are they too old to be leash-trained? If not, would you use any different methods? Great video, btw.
I tried leash training my 2 (3months) kittens and one just kept playing with the string from the leash 😭 although I tried feeding her treats and encouraging her to walk, she did a few small walks but it was just few tiny steps and then get distracted etc, and another one hated it, just either sat down or lied down not wanting to move (as he felt like he had no freedom?) even when I used the same thing with the treats and encouragement, it didnt really work.. he was harder to train than my other cat.. at one point he ran frantically trying to escape the leash and I had to chase/go nearer to him as I didn't want the leash to get stuck but it did at some point and I had to let go because he seemed so frightened when the leash got tightened, and alas he hated it even more 😅 guess they'll just be indoor cats for now until the leash training works in the future lol
Also if I trained her to give me a kiss before eating do you think she has potential she is 3 months now. I put the harness on her one time so far. she went stiff and flopped over like the other girls said but then I brought out the treats and she ran across the room. As soon as they were gone though she returned to being a plank of wood on the floor. What do you suggest I should use as my tactic for making her comfortable with the harness. Also if you can provide some links for nail clipping(fav. Brand nail clipper for a impatient and hyper active kitty who can be vicious), potty training, and putting an end to her fake starving robot zombie food junkie that comes out when she sees, smells, hears, or even thinks food lol
I've just brought in a stray kitten and I'm scared of letting her back outside just in case she doesn't come back but we don't have a litterbox so I'm hoping my ferrets harness will fit so I can let her have some time outside. I'm not going to keep her as my brother is severely allergic but it'd also be nice for her to be leash trained for her new family lol
My kitten really enjoys walking on a leash but she has a tendency to be skiddish and afraid of people. So she can get really freaked out by more open spaces and people walking by. I'm not sure how to get her use to these things. Any advice?
Do you have a link for the type of leash? Just adopted two kittens. Would love to take them out since we live in apartments, hopefully we'll be living in a townhome by the end of summer.
So I was inspired by this video and others to train my cat to walk on leash. I have taken her out twice in one day and she LOVES it. However she is obsessed with it now...and meows loudly at the front door and seems agitated because I won't answer her every cry to go outside. Has anyone successfully dealt with this issue. I would love suggestions.
My 7 yrs old male cat does the same thing. But I walk him for 1-2 hours sometimes even more, He's a indoor cat who spends 50% of the day outside in a string line across our garden in the summers. Now the crying hell begins again as winter is on the horison. But for me it's just a matter of patience as he realises that its getting colder outside and the walks will shrink down to only around 30 min a day. My Cat wants to check the territory for other cats scent and to make his scent present in the area. And to eat grass of course, this is some of the reasons why they want to go outside. They have a mission! And they need a rutine and you need to be consistant in that. But if you can't go out sometimes they just need a bit of a distraction and something else to do, or just take the cat out for a moment to check the surroundings. Best of luck!
@@tomassandstrom6445 how do you deal with them pulling on the lead? My cat freaks out when he realises hes tethered by the lead. Its so stressful cos in worried he'll twist out of the harness
@@maeuschen22 Hello! Funny you should ask, I am a bit more experienced with cat walking now. The older cat (that my parents now take care of) liked long walks as I said before, but the abandoned cat that I now have, is 2 years old, and can be a bit of a handful and as he is smaller in size. Less like a dog on leash and more explosive like a cat 😊. Now if you just trust the cat I think he will learn to pull less. Someone once said don't make a big deal of when you leave your pet alone in the house because the cat might feel less stressed when you go to work in the morning if YOU don't get stressed, and maybe it's the same here, the pet will feel when you are getting stressed and upset and that makes it much harder for the both of you aswell. But I suggest to watch over your cat if there is other cats and or dogs walking in the same area be prepared for that. To make your cat easier adjusted to be more restricted and less pulling maybe you could try taking some treats with you, I have never tried that but all cats are different, cats can be quite explosive when playing outside but the strap lead I use is only about 4-5 feet. It makes for a good coordination and keep close and some cats might have bigger issues with that but i think its more of a practice thing just keep training and both you and the cat will be better! I have a normal harness with lighter neck and stomach straps but If you are affraid of the cat slipping out of it, I guess you can get a full body harness that should prevent the cat from accidentally slipping out. Hope some of my writing will give you some thoughts of how to go ahead and make the best of your future catwalks. Have a great week!
I have two kittens with about 2 months old and they are so fine with the harness on themselves but im scared to go outside with them because they're soo energic
Is 7-mo's too old to try? I have a young bob tailed Siamese so I won't be able to judge by his tail. Another question: Is there any difference in harnesses?
When could I start to train? I am getting a 12 week old kitten in July and want to train him to walk on a leash but am insecure it could destroy the (not yet formed) trust he has in me when starting too early. So what are the signs I have to look for to know when to start? After 2/3 weeks after settling in my apartment?
As long as you properly leash train your cat (not like shown in this video) and make sure he's comfortable at all times, it should not matter. If you want more advice on proper leash training and makes sure he is comfortable, just respond and I'lll try to help.
@@dairomi9447 Hi, thanks for the comment! what is the correct way to leash train a cat if this video is not? If you could link another video or website id be happy to check it out :)
My question is... Can I train an adult cat? He is almost 5years old. We was used to be 80% indoor cat 20% outdoor. Unfortunately we have to move to an apartment , now he cant go out anymore. I built a "catio" but he stills wants to go outside. Please advise.
Hi Maxy! It can be very difficult to have a cat who is used to being able to go outdoors when he wants to suddenly staying indoors at all times. Be prepared to deal with him whining and trying to rush out the door for some time...he just doesn't understand why he can't go out! I see you watched my video about leash training...that could be an option, but it will take some patience and time since he is older. It's good you have a catio for him (is this on a balcony or porch?)...that will help some. I think you will need concentrate on entertaining your cat as often as you can, with toys and other things he likes. My Siamese, Sing Sing, is an indoor-only cat, so I have to play tag with him and run him through the house to get his energy out. Hopefully your kitty will accept his indoor status and stop begging to go out, but...as they say, you can take the cat out of the outdoor, but you can't take the outdoor out of the cat! good luck xoxo
I noticed your cat never completly stopped functioning when you put the leash on the harness and start attacking it and think it's a toy and refuses to get off her back chewing at it and walk. How do I avoid that? Shes more interested in playing withbthe leash than treats as well so idk what other motivation I can get for her. And she was a barn cat before I got her and I really want her to be happy and able to go outside again
You can easily avoid this by getting some cat treats. First, make sure that the cat is comfortable with the leash. Try rewarding the cat with cat treats for getting close to and interacting with the harnass before even THINKING about putting it on. Once the cat is comfortable with being around it, try bringing it to them while still rewarding. Only try to put it on when they are fully comfortable with being around the harnass and being touched by it. You could try putting the harnass on while the cat is eating, and play with the cat when it's on. At first, just keep it on for short periods of time, while playing, petting or eating, so the cat gets a positive association with the harnass. To make sure she is not chewing on it, just reward any behavior that isn't chewing on it.
I started taking my cat out ..he cries a bit. But does walk looks outside i want to show him outdoors trees something new to look at... I do it every day for 20 minutes...
When I put the harness on my kitten he goes crazy and tries to take it off and even tries to hit against walls... I get really scared he's gonna get hurt so I just take it off. Even when i leave it on for a while and he feels comfortable with it, when I come close with the leash he just sprints...
Hi there! Some cats take to the harness very quickly and don't mind it; others freak out. I think your cat will get used to the harness but it may take him a while. I would not even attempt to put the leash on until your kitty is totally comfortable wearing his harness and doesn't even seem to notice it. Some just take longer than others, but I know he can learn! good Luck!
Hi, thanks for the video. How old was Lolita when you started training her? My kitten is 10 weeks now and it would be great if we can leash train her. She has a puppy brother and it would be nice to take them on walks together.
Any advice in what to do when your cat gets spooked by something, realises theyre tethered by the leash and freaks out even more? Im afraid one day he'll escape the harness and run off. Also how do you stop them getting tangled around stuff and then trying to run as you're untangling etc
Good questions. First, make sure you have a very well-fitting harness so it won't slip off easily. The one that Lola wears in this video is not the best, I now prefer the ones made of stretchy neoprene with good wide straps. Next, ONLY walk in a safe areas where there are not too many cars or other dangers, like loose dogs. Keep looking around and be prepared to scoop the kitty up if anything like that approaches. As for the tangling, I like a leash that attaches to the center back of the harness so it's away from the cats legs. And the better they get at walking on the leash, the less they tangle. Hope this helps!
@@KittenSchool Thanks, I live in an apartment and i take my 6 month old kitten to visit my parents once a week. Lately iv been taking him out on a leash in their garden. I guess hes probably so easily spooked cos its we've only tried going outside a few times a week apart each time....
Yes! Try rewarding the cat with cat treats for getting close to and interacting with the harnass before even THINKING about putting it on. Hi! I need some help. I got to the point where my kittens are comfortable wearing the harness... but when I put the leash on, all they want to do is play with it. They don’t walk at all. How to I make them ignore it?
get some treats, and encourage them to walk towards you, and reward when they come. Keep doing this, as it will improve their leash walking as well. If this doesn't work, try rewarding for any behavior that isn't chewing on the leash
My rescue kitten is about 1 yr old & very smart. Is that too late to begin leash training? Can this be done at any age? He is an indoor only cat. He loves to spend time on the patio watching birds & everything that goes by. The area is too dangerous to let him out on his own.
You can try, but dont frighten it. My cat saw a dog on a leash and got so scared that he never came out. Either he guess i was training him to be a dog or he just hates me.
1 year isn't old at all, I leash-trained cats which were already 3 years of age. My own 2 cats I trained with 6 month though, I walk them outside every second day in nature. They also trained to follow off-leash. You can see how I walk them on my channel, if that helps.
All I can tell you is play, play, PLAY! Those little laser pointer toys can be fun for a cat with a lot of energy and you can amuse them as you sit on the couch. But be sure to also play with real toys (not just a laser pointer) since cats need to have the satisfaction of "catching" their prey, which they can't really do with a laser. Do you have just one cat? Having two or more allows them to chase and stalk each other until they tire out. Thanks for the comment!

Try putting the harnesd on before he eats so when your done prepareing his food he'll have to walk to the kitchen in order to eat.

What a sweet and smart girl she is!
I have a new kitten in my life, and this is a heipful video. Thanks!
I just rescued my kitten sushi 🍣! The people who had him at the start had "mean kids". As a result a tail twice broken and a fearless spirit. I sucks the way he got fearless but I'm going to turn it to lemonade! He cam explore the world with me and his big sister princess toadstool!😉
aww my kitty's name is Sushi too, but she's a girl.
I love you so much, you've helped me, help my adopted babies, and it's my dream to be able to help as many kitties as you do, one day
I love these am having a kitten is now three weeks old am gonna learn her hoe to be on a leache while I am keep him safely home a good time to start I think is when they are kitten thank you lady for learning us how to keep our kitten safe and still be able to go outside and get fresh AIR just like us god bless you lady.
HI!! So I have been watching your videos all day. I just got a feral cat named Hurricane and she has one eye~! I love that you have a slightly blind kitty that you are helping. That's exactly what made me fell for my little baby. Good for you for helping the kitties of the world who have disabilities. I know otherwise they would not make it very long.
now that's one happy cat
Lolita is just too cute
I love this, thank you! Also i love her lil grey toes haha
Thank Kitty! She does have the cutest toes right?!? What an amazing little girl. Her new owners adore her!
Go! Lolita.
Sky, my 8 week year old kitten, sat next to me and was sooo focused on this, we watched over and over until she feell asleep.
The binder clip is a perfect idea.
Lolita is fearless beautiful smart baby 😘
Oh she's amazing, I knew she was special the moment I started fostering her! I am still in touch with her adopter, and they ended up adopting a brother for her about a year ago. They love them SO much! Thanks for the comment!
This is soooo cute I’m training my kitten bubble how to walk on a leash
This video is old but it worked! Thank you so much for making this, I really needed this for my kitten, Kiara. I took her with my dog and she did so well! Again, thank you so much! ❤
I'm leash training my little Siamese boy and he's slowly coming around to it!
Keep practicing! Siamese are very capable of walking on a leash.
Thanks for the lessons. Plan on adopting 2 kittens soon & want to see I'd I can turn them into service animals or at least emotional support.
So how is the leash training going? 😊
I tried this with my cat and it helps alot! Although it is his first day learning, he did so much like following me with the leash on. To add to that, he is super comfortable with the harness. Even though he isn't the best with focusing, this strategy did so much in one day, thank you.
Awww~ We're gonna miss Lolita ^w^ I'm so happy and very educated by this video. .w. I had no idea cats can be leash trained =3
Since they do that nicely, I could train them to follow off-leash (we only go in nature, in calm areas)
In my experience walking a cat off-leash is a lot better. (before that leash-training is necessary though) Then they can run around, climb trees and the human doesn't have to wait every time the cat stops and looks around. A lot more relaxed for both sides.
Haha hi xD
now thats one happy cat
You’re pure love and knowledge, BLESSINGS!!!! ❤️😺😺😺😺❤️
Thank you for the very sweet comment! Glad you enjoyed the video. **Caroline
I liked this video with my nose👃
A binder clip is what i was missing! It always slipped off my kitters leggies. Neveklr thought about using a binders clip! I have to use an XS dog harness but it fits her decently
wow thank for this great tip, really enjoy your way to explain and showing how to do
thanks so much my cat is learning really good♡♡♡
That's great! I am really happy to hear this. Thanks for the comment and happy cat walking!
Lolita is quite spectacular
Wow. Lolita sets a pretty high standard. I know, my two cats won't learn as fast (I'm not saying they are not smart... the older one is very shy and defensive, and I am completely new to training cats...) But seeing Lolita enjoying the outdoors, really motivates me to try it
loved the vid, but i do it a different way
I put my kitten, Cosmo, on a starting place, like a garbage can or a small crate that he can jump off of, I'm teaching him come on, come back, and sit, he needs to jump from these things because it gives him that tiny boost of energy, and i reward him with shot glasses of food! it works very well! i always made sure he had flea drops before i took him out every month.
I’m going to train my little baby soon! She will have lots of fun! Ik it!
OMG she is so cute idc if she has a infection she is just as cute 😍😍
That’s flipping awesome. My 9w old kitten is really getting used to the harness and the leash. I hope she will become ‘professional’ one day😂
i needed this
I’m watching this to learn how to train my one eyed kitten. First video I clicked and it’s a cat with one bad eye.
Awww...This little girl is the best. I just got an update on her from her new family yesterday, and she is doing great. Good luck with your little one eye kitty! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much This is amazing. I can't wait to try this with my kitten.
Useful tips, thanks. Is Lolita part-Bengal? She looks like she might be.
Kitties on a leash is friggin adorable
There's nothing more adorable, right? Lolita's new family take her outside on her leash all the time! Thanks for watching!
I gotta train my little tuxedo kitten to use a leash . So she can enjoy a nice little walk outside or at the park !
Great video, btw.
aww im getting a kitten soon thanks!!
That's great! You will love being a cat owner. It's the best thing ever. xoxo
Great video thank you for sharing
Lolita is just like my candy they are twins
Great video
I tried leash training my 2 (3months) kittens and one just kept playing with the string from the leash 😭 although I tried feeding her treats and encouraging her to walk, she did a few small walks but it was just few tiny steps and then get distracted etc, and another one hated it, just either sat down or lied down not wanting to move (as he felt like he had no freedom?) even when I used the same thing with the treats and encouragement, it didnt really work.. he was harder to train than my other cat.. at one point he ran frantically trying to escape the leash and I had to chase/go nearer to him as I didn't want the leash to get stuck but it did at some point and I had to let go because he seemed so frightened when the leash got tightened, and alas he hated it even more 😅 guess they'll just be indoor cats for now until the leash training works in the future lol
such a good cat :*
Thank you for the tips!
What brand kitten leash and harness do you suggest. My concerns are safety and comfort for kitty
@KITTENSCHOOL // is it possible to teach an 7 year old cat to walk on the leash? Have never trained this cat before.....
When could I start to train? I am getting a 12 week old kitten in July and want to train him to walk on a leash but am insecure it could destroy the (not yet formed) trust he has in me when starting too early. So what are the signs I have to look for to know when to start? After 2/3 weeks after settling in my apartment?
I’m getting a 10 week old Himalayan in June, should I start leash training right away or give him a few weeks to settle in?
As long as you properly leash train your cat (not like shown in this video) and make sure he's comfortable at all times, it should not matter. If you want more advice on proper leash training and makes sure he is comfortable, just respond and I'lll try to help.
@@dairomi9447 Hi, thanks for the comment! what is the correct way to leash train a cat if this video is not? If you could link another video or website id be happy to check it out :)
@@laurync6339 ua-cam.com/video/J5PpzvTh44M/v-deo.html This will make sure the cat is comfortable with the harness and leash.
Dairomi oh great I’ve already watched that video haha! I’ll make sure to follow its info
Lolita 😍😍😍
To make sure she is not chewing on it, just reward any behavior that isn't chewing on it.
awww cute
m watchng less bt listening more
buddy ur accent v soothng..bless u
I started taking my cat out ..he cries a bit. But does walk looks outside i want to show him outdoors trees something new to look at... I do it every day for 20 minutes...
My kittwn is overscared of outside and he wants to go back inside and start scraching help
Is a cat still considered an indoor cat even if it goes onto an enclosed balcony or goes out for walks?
ty
When I put the harness on my kitten he goes crazy and tries to take it off and even tries to hit against walls... I get really scared he's gonna get hurt so I just take it off. Even when i leave it on for a while and he feels comfortable with it, when I come close with the leash he just sprints...
Hi there! Some cats take to the harness very quickly and don't mind it; others freak out. I think your cat will get used to the harness but it may take him a while. I would not even attempt to put the leash on until your kitty is totally comfortable wearing his harness and doesn't even seem to notice it. Some just take longer than others, but I know he can learn! good Luck!
@@KittenSchool thank you!
Hi, thanks for the video. How old was Lolita when you started training her? My kitten is 10 weeks now and it would be great if we can leash train her. She has a puppy brother and it would be nice to take them on walks together.
She said the cat was 4 months old I think
Thank you for sharing..💞
My sweet Max is only 9 weeks. Can I train him on a leash already?
At what age would you suggest I begin to train my kitten to walk on a leash
It doesn't matter too much as long as you make sure they're comfortable with the leash.
My cat loves to attack my hand when I'm trying to put the harness over her head... any way to make this experience better for both of us?
Yes! What is the breed of Lolita? I have a similar looking kitten.
How many minutes per session do you recommend having them wear just the harness by itself in the beginning?
Traveler's Garden I will check out your channel. I've been putting his harness on in the house to get him used to it. It's a work in progress...
Nice
Thank you! Shakira
My cat walks me instead! They're so active! Do you have any ideas on how to make kitties less active?
All I can tell you is play, play, PLAY! Those little laser pointer toys can be fun for a cat with a lot of energy and you can amuse them as you sit on the couch. But be sure to also play with real toys (not just a laser pointer) since cats need to have the satisfaction of "catching" their prey, which they can't really do with a laser. Do you have just one cat? Having two or more allows them to chase and stalk each other until they tire out. Thanks for the comment!
