Great video! I have the Kickstarter edition, and love it, but the retail edition looks so good as well! I am excited for all of the people who will get to experience the game for the first time because of this set!
Super helpful to me in deciding what to get. I'd much rather have just the one box for it all. It also looks like they have some more battle chests available on their website for the time being, but they're not the KS exclusive versions.
Just a note and I didn't realize this, the mythic card is actually part of the dice thrones adventures. If you follow the unlocks, the mythic cards are an eventual unlock in adventures for all the other characters. Obviously can't just say that with the cards.
Bummer of the colored trays - for me that was the top thing I really liked and would have pushed me into the Battle Chest. It's not a game play thing but it is a "looks awesome" - The promo pack can be bought from the website. I don't really care about swirl dice at all. The hammer would have been cool but - not really needed. So it's retail for me vs having to order from the website. Thanks for this as I was going to order the Marvel Battle Chest but now I'll just order the Battle Chest for Season 1 Re rolled and skip the Marvel and pick up those sets as I desire and as we want them. There are some discounts that pop up for retailers - not much - but enough so you saved me some money! Thanks!
I felt like you did, but actually got rid of my Season 2 sets for the Battlechest, because so much easier having everything in one box. I got the KS Marvel chest too. Once I saw how much easier the game was to manage with the Battlechest, I just couldn't go back to the other boxes.
Yes, we don’t have a copy of that for our comparison. From what we have gathered from the DT community is that it comes with the swirl dice & all 8 characters. The Kickstarter promo cards, Thor’s hammer, color coded boxes are not part of the pre order MDT Champion Battle Chest. There may be other differences we don’t know about as well.
@@PlaytheGameHQ The Kickstarter Exclusive Battle Chest exclusives were: 1) Zinc Metal Mjolnir, 2) Loki's Illusion cards are synth cards 3) Colored storage trays and 4) numbered on the back - all aesthetic stuff that has no game play value/impact. While the standard Battle Chest will not include the Promo Pack for free, you can add that on separately in the Dice Throne store. Both exclusive and standard chest have swirly dice whereas the retail has the flat colored dice (as you noted in the video). If you're looking for the Kickstarter Exclusive chest, they will be available in limited supply at cons that Dice Throne will have a booth at. This year, they're going to be at Gen Con and will also be at PAX Unplugged in December.
@@rickrolledreviews186 thanks, my cousin just got the Kickstarter for it and it seemed like the cards aren't synth, maybe they are but he may have not got it since he didn't do the 2nd tier pledge
I’m not sure, I borrowed the kickstarter version @devontalkstabletop for this video, so he may know, but I no longer have it in my possession to check.
Yes, you can do that. You just need 2 characters to play and they’re fully compatible with any other dice throne. So the 4 character retail is all you need to play up to 4 players.
Thanks for the video. This game is so great so, people should be happy with either version.

Do you know if they plan on creating and adding more character add ons in the future?

The promo cards only activate on a 6, they’re not necessary at all.
Playmats and Dice Trays will only be available at cons where Dice Throne has a booth
Dunder Mifflin INC FTW!! Glad to see another "The office" fane :) And a great review.
Thanks!

There is also the pre-order battle chest which is different from the kickstarter battle chest …

@@rickrolledreviews186 what are synth cards?
@@Gbyrd99 they are a custom manufactured PVC based card stock that stands up to bending and liquids without getting damaged

Do they give you enough sleeves to cover the promo cards?

But can all eight decks fit in the retail core box? That was my only question
I do not believe so, the retail core box is sized to just fit the 4 that come with it.
Can I buy just retail 4-hero edition and play only with it or I need the base game or something else?
Yes, you can do that. You just need 2 characters to play and they’re fully compatible with any other dice throne. So the 4 character retail is all you need to play up to 4 players.
@@PlaytheGameHQ thanks a lot! :D
