It was Work, He just wanted to Work! Momentary enjoyment. Readers enjoyed his work and the Work was Fun!
Dear pensive lady, Cormac McCarthy. Thanks.
Pynchon and Delillo, absolutely. McCarthy? ....uh no.
@@cometcourse381 why not?
Ditto! Cant have contemporary masters without Cormac...
@@cometcourse381 Uh, yes. McCarthy is definitely in that pantheon. Unquestionably.
Had no idea he died. Damm shame.
Bit self obsessed.
Phillip Roth.... wouldn't hire him to pick up the dog shit in my back yard.
As if. Roth is one of America's most prolific writers, winning a plethora of NBA's, including a Pulitzer Prize. When can we expect to see your books on the shelves?? Exaxtly. Bye, 😀😀
It is ridiculous to think the novel is dead. Roth was nothing very special.
Why is the BBC news department obsessed with books and authors? Yesterday mornings news headlines were led with the death of an American author most people had never heard of and whose writings were controversial decades ago but not now. Can anyone explain why his work is so incredibly important? From what I've heard, I really don't think it is even though it may be a good read.
Read his work and figure it out... or don't.
Most people had never heard of? It doesn't take much these days for some to have hard opinions about things they don't seem to know much about. Try reading.
RollaArtis -----momentary enjoyment. Its relevant because he gave American readers enjoyment! And readers were grateful. Plus he made things taste better!
Ignorance at its finest.
