Yeah, it was rather shocking to me that he either didn’t notice they had two drummers on the song or didn’t think to comment on it. GS isn’t the first to ever do it, but it’s rather rare.
@yann messager-bourget Hi Yann! I agree 100%! I was told that Tamu recommended Yuri to Hana. Yuri is one of those great drummers that doesn't get the credit that she deserves!
Some fun facts: During the Pandemic the girls got bored one day and made a vid of this song. But with toy instruments. Turned out amazing just like everything they do.
You should have one one your drummer buddies react to the dual drum sets going on here. I'd be interested to hear a professional drummer's opinion. I personally think its incredible, especially both hitting the snare in time.
Hi Bullet Proof! It's Russ! It's a flawless performance! I'm glad you noticed their collective snare-work. Not only hitting at the same time, but with the same intensity (accents, ghost notes, dynamics); totally spot on! I've only seen a handful of drummers do that, (Allman Brothers Band, Senri Kawaguchi, Tamu Murata). I've seen a lot of famous Jazz drummers attempt to do a duet with a Jazz piece, "Caravan" and fall short. I've seen Senri Kawaguchi and Tamu Murata play duets with, "Innocently" and "Real Life" and nail it! If you get a chance, try to find the Allman Brothers performing, "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" on UA-cam; and check out the drum duet! You won't be disappointed! Take Care! Best Wishes, Always! Russ
In japanese Tamashii 魂 = SOUL, it has only one kanji, the kanji are the Chinese characters used in the Japanese language, in Chinese instead there are two characters, the one I put that is used second, plus another, 靈, therefore 靈魂 Linghun.
"TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI", FOR FUNK/JAZZ. THEY DO A COVER OF "WHAT IS HIP' BY TOWER OF POWER. AN ORIGINAL SONG IS "FUNK #1". THEY DO A MILES DAVIS COVER WITH TWIN BASS. I JUST FIND THAT ADDING SOME JAZZ/FUNK TO MY LISTENING ADDS SPICE AND I APPERCIATE ALL MY FAVORITE ROCK/METAL MORE WHEN I GET BACK TO IT. FOR SOME REASON TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI REMINDS ME OF THE CHRISTMAS SEASON. EXCELLENT TO REVIEW WITH A BASSIST GUEST AND ALSO A JAZZ GUEST.
Since you been covering both of them. You should check out Gacharic Spin with the Members of the Kami Band and the cover of Judas Priest "The Hellion / Electric Eye". ua-cam.com/video/wgTh6wZjtGE/v-deo.html It was done in 2017 and it was unfortunately Guitarist Mikio Fujioka's last live performance who died after sustaining injuries from an accidental fall from an star observation deck.
I'm pretty sure it is illegal in some regions to NOT recommend the same song but played on toy instruments. ua-cam.com/video/DzoxNWNnFpw/v-deo.html Of course I'll recommend Redline live from the same show you just watched. To me Tamashii and Redline from this show is the show is where Angie (pink haired vocaliser/energiser bunny) and Yuri (drummer on your left in the Tamashii video) went from being new members to be 100% established part of the future of Gacharic Spin. This is one of the last shows when they mainly played songs released before they joined the band. Redline: ua-cam.com/video/9r6YeSatOac/v-deo.html
Another great band out of Japan.
When one drummer just isn't enough - Gacharic Spin.

Gacharic Spin at their best! Yuri and Hana are in perfect sync on the drums! Super high energy performance!

One of the greatest bands from Japan if not THE best!

Here's one where they all sing (except for Koga) it's called "Redline" ua-cam.com/video/9r6YeSatOac/v-deo.html

I had Emilio on the podcast last year with Angelo from Fishbone. Emilio was real fun!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Try the same song on toy instruments ua-cam.com/video/DzoxNWNnFpw/v-deo.html

Oh ... in case it isn't clear to Joel - the Kami band are the musicians part of BABYMETAL. 😇
Tamashii means "soul"
