    I like the idea of the Cybertruck Powershare, however I think an Anker F3800 and the Home Power Panel (HPP) is a better option --especially if you need sub 1 second failover response.
    With the Cybertruck Powershare, there is like a 3 second cutover after a power failure. With the Anker F3800 and HPP, failover is 20 msec. The capacity of the Cybertruck is greate but for $2,500 (Tesla Gateway) + $500 (Gen 3 wall charger) the money would be better put to an F3800 and HPP--or unless it is included for "free" with Foundation series.
    At best the Tesla Powershare is a "standby" power backup while the F3800 is a true home UPS. I was going to go the Powershare route but the F3800 just makes more sense for me.
    The 48v out from the Cybertruck, can be use to feed the F3800. The F3800 can handle up to 2400 watt (1200 per port) DC input, but the Cybertruck will only output 400W.

    They’re likely checking the customers panel service rating and for NEC 705.12(B)(3)(2), so ideally a 225A/200A panel allowing up to 70A backfeed. NEC 705.12(B)(3)(3) Sum rule would be applicable too

I still haven’t understood why the universal wall connector is needed instead of the regular wall connector you have… but seeing you have both furthers my confusion lol. They seem the same except for the additional attachable adapter on the end, but there must be some other difference?

    All of these videos on the CT and not one person has ever mentioned how hot the wireless charging pads get. They get so hot, that your phone stops charging until it returns to a lower temperature, so I have ti take my phone off the charging pad for a few minutes then put it back on.

    I would have just used the 240V outlet from the truck to manually feed it back to my house, turn off the main breaker and ones that take more power such as the dryer and voila. I’m very cheap but it’s a very nice setup.

      you can't, you'd have no Neutral without the NFT (Neutral Forming Transformer), that is part of the Gateway, which also does the isolation from the grid

    Any idea when DC power share (v2h) coming out for normal Teslas so we can expand powerwall with our vehicles? AC works cause they designed the CT to invert the dc on the vehicle. But as far as I know normal Teslas don't have that capability. I really hope when they do have V2h they make it backwards capable with older vehicles. DC V2h with a Powerwall should be easy. DC is so much easier than AC.

    I'm a little puzzled how the Universal Wall Connector can back feed to a house. There are only two hots and a ground terminal in the wall connector wiring box, so how does 120V split-phase get created? It's 240V across the two hots. For the charging function, the ground wire would typically not be required to have the same ampacity as the hot leads (like 6 AWG for 60A hots, and 10AWG for ground), and using ground as a backfeed neutral sounds like it would fail electrical permit inspection. It seems like there would need to be something like an autotransformer to convert 240V to split-phase 240/120.

    • @mwolrich
      @mwolrich Місяць тому +1

      The Gateway has an NFT built into it (Neutral Forming Transformer), this is the same way that Enphase does it, with their IQ System Controller 3 and IQ Battery 5P's, FYI, the NFT's are usually on 40A breakers.. Most houses are fairly well balanced on the 120V circuits, so a 40A differential is very unlikely,and of course 240V circuits are always balanced. remember, the house is disconnected from the grid by an isolation switch, so the neutral is formed the same way it is in the utility transformer...

      If the Cybertruck was sleeping (contactors open), I believe it would take a few seconds to switch over. The F-150 Lighting exports DC thus requires an external inverter the Cybertruck sends 240AC back to the home (inverter is on the PCS board of the Cybertruck). Using an external inverter could allow for more or less power to be exported.

    • @LogueS7
      @LogueS7 2 місяці тому

      I watched the video multiple times - you should too; it was about 1 sec; to be instantaneous the truck battery would have to be getting a feed directly from grid and the house would be powered by the truck constantly (like a data center) so when grid goes away there is no interruption…but this isn’t a data center, its a house; which is why a Tesla Power Wall makes so much sense (not in this video)
