I have one of these Mk II racing dial Speedy's. Watching this not only made me realise just how incredibly talented you are but it showed me what my Mk II would have looked like when brand new. I wish my dial still had that vibrant red and orange minutes track. My orange is long faded away and the red is still partially visible. It's a great watch and it was my first Omega so it holds a special place in my heart.
First I did this exact work on my prized omega twice while owning it. Once in watchmaking school and once years latter to service it. It was wonderful explaining to my family what you were doing and the intricacies of the work and the timepiece. They really got to see exactly what I was doing all those years hunched over a Watchmakers bench. I laughed hysterically when you were cleaning the parts first in Benzine before putting in the cleaning fluid. My old watch master would constantly remind us to brush the parts with benzine and peg the jewel holes. Spinning the gear train fast with the winding stem especially when it’s dirty and unclean is something I was taught never to do. Scores the pivots. Check the gears for end and side shake and turn the stem slowly never fast. I held my breath as you removed the gear off the tall delicate fourth wheel pivot. Well done. Your case work is superior to my work. Congratulations.
He is on another level on case refinishing! I have subs to most of the known watch repair channels but this one is beyond their level by 10 folds! Amazing hands like a top notch surgeon!

Having owned one of these since the early 70s I always find it interesting when one comes up for a service and refinishing of the case. Due to water damage mine went back to Omega to see about repairing the damage. I’d been pretty rough on it and Omega ended up replacing the entire movement, hands, dial, crystal, back, crown and pushers!
Fantastic results... I have to ask as I have a Speedy... What ballpark costs are involved in a restoration like this?.. Is it dependant on the condition and time spent restoring?.

excellent work, excellent restoration of the case and crystal, but... honestly I would not have touched the caseback, or just treated it with very fine sandpaper which does not penetrate the line of the design, attenuating it.
