    Just like many old philosophers. Mike Tyson was adept in violence, fitness and struggle. This is what I think many modern philosophers are missing. Most of them are graduates who think for the sake of thinking meanwhile Mikes wisdom comes from real experience, real struggle which is why what he says stick.

    • @MonkeyDIvan
      @MonkeyDIvan 7 місяців тому +46

      Wow, what an incredibly reductive and childish way of interpreting the lives of modern philosophers. You have absolutely no clue who they are or what their personal lives look like or about the struggles they have faced. They fact that you associate the word struggle exclusively to external happenings I find frankly bizarre. Also, just on a side note, to compare Mike Tyson to an actual philosopher just exposes a profound lack of understanding about actual philsophy. There is wisdom and truth to much of what he says, the same way that there is wisdom and truth in much of what most people say when you give them the opportunity to open themselves up. I just frankly hate the fact that for most people philosophy just boils down to which person can drop the coolest one-liners/quotes with a sense of profound wisdom to them. Philosophy is an actual sciene - put Mike Tyson in the same room with an actual philosopher and see how quickly he turns into a toddler incapable of dwelling deeper beyond the obvious. I like to believe I am fairly smart and that I think a lot about philosophical issues; the moment I talked to a person that actually studies it, the moment I realized how little knowledge about the subject I actually posess. Don't let your senses be misguided by the persona of Mike Tyson, and I don't mean this as a slight towards you or him. He is a smart man who has grown and lived through a lot, but don't make the mistake of thinking his experience for wisdom. He is certainly a fine man to listen to, and there are things one can certainly take away from him. He is not a philosopher though.

    Damn this man has his heart on his tongue ... something I respect more then anything. Someone like that will never lure you into a trap or will lie to you for you touchie touchie feelings. He will tell you to get your sh*t together and be a man. Sometimes that's all we need ... A friend who is truly honest.
