Upgraded from the Iqunix F96 Corral Sea to the F97 Hitchhiker. Let's look over the major changes and see if it's worth the upgrade or not. Also a quick look at the L80 Cosmic Traveler, A80 Explorer, L80 Formula, and the awesome M80 Purry Cat for any cat lovers out there! These keyboards come with OEM, Cherry, and KDA Profile PBT keycaps. Now you can choose between Cherry or TTC switches for the F97 as well. All of these are great boards for someone looking for a mechanical keyboard, but not necessarily wanting a new hobby. And also great for those who just want to ditch the old office keyboard for something that's more comfortable and satisfying to type on for their home office or work from home setup.

1st off congrats on going full time with content creation. Second, not into the whole keyboard thing as a woodworker/creator, but being honest it was great watching this - so great job. And third, can’t wait to see more content from you here and on IG.
Hey thank you so much! I wanted to put something a little different from woodworking on here now and then since the whole office setup thing is an obsession to me and I like building things for the office. And the keyboard is a big part of the office haha
Got myself two F97s this month. Hitchicker in cherry browns and cosmic traveler with ACE. Both amazing boards. Thanks for help in choosing.
Awesome! I’m glad you like then
How is Cosmic Traveller?
Nice video. Always well shot and edited. Super boss keyboards. Congrats on going full time! 🙂👍🐒
Thank you so much man!
Does the f97 have an internal flash? I want to remap keys and don't use the Software on all devices
Bought an F97 hitchhiker myself awhile ago as my first mechanical keyboard for my MBP and iPad. I did a bit of research about this being new to everything keyboards, and the price seemed high end but reasonable. Why go for ‘just good,’ and not get the best from the start? In my hands, or on my fingertips… It was a one of those just good purchases that I’ve not regretted for a minute. Fun to use, comfortable, good entertainment with the sound and RGB lights, layout is great, keys are premium in look and feel, the white caps and gray/darker caps are easy to see, and it is an over-all solid and super quality experience. Good review here that covers most everything. Thanks for reminding me how lucky I am to have stumbled on this.
BTW, I got the TTC ACE switches and really love their punchy but smooth feel and very cool mellow clacking.
Awesome! I kind of wish I got one of the TTC switches because I’m really curious now
The video I've been looking for. Need to get a new keyboard for the office soon!
That’s right! I’m excited to see everything you’ll do for the new office!!
1. As a fellow woodworker and software engineer, I really enjoy your channel! Thanks for making content bringing tech into the world of woodworking!
2. Any problems finding the arrow keys on those 96% layouts? I write code all day and use the arrow keys a lot and wondering if it's hard to find those without looking or if that's something you've just built muscle memory for. I've only used the apple keyboards for years and would like to try something new :)
No problems finding the arrow keys!
I really love your videos, and as someone who considers himself as a keyboard enthusiast, I clicked with no hesitation.
If you consider going into the rabbit hole of this hobby, I can suggest some budget variants that won't devour your wallet but still give some nice sounds coming from your keyboard. Akko CS Silver, Akko Cream Yellows, Akko Cream Blue, Gateron Cap Milky Yellow. A lot of linear switches from Akko are really cheap, $9 per pack (45 pieces in a pack), silvers are around $14. There are a lot of options out there but you can look at other guys that love keyboards and get a sense of what might be your next adventure.
Loved the video, very detailed, and Iqunix has really nice keyboards. Enjoy the upcoming holidays mate!
Thanks so much for the recommendations and thanks for watching! I’ll definitely check them out 🔥
Do you know any brands which offer wireless hot swappable keyboards that take AA or AAA batteries? I already have plenty of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, and I am not personally willing to buy more devices with non-removable batteries.
@@herbivorouscyborg2398 There are a couple, but I don't think you would get a great battery life out of them. There is a tester68 on aliexpress and it is a hotswap board.
@@stefanzlatanovic7521 Thanks for the information. It looks like that tester68 uses AAA batteries, which are obviously lower capacity compared to AA. Although, I have a wireless keyboard (not mechanical) which takes AAA and it seems to last quite a long time. I'm also considering going down the rabbit hole of learning how to make my own, so I guess I can use AA if I decide to do that. Not sure if I'll have to design my own 3D print for the case or not.
Because the function keys only work in combination with the FN key, it becomes cumbersome to start and stop the audio from an app that is not in focus. This is close to a deal-breaker for me. Some people suggest doing FN-ESC to lock the FN key to ON, but this doesn't work for me.
Hey, I just got this keyboard and love it so far except… straight out of the box it has significant ringing/reverb noise. What would you recommend, lubing the springs? (Although I thought this came pre-lubed). Thanks!
Yeah I’d say lube it. I thought they came preluded as well. What switches did you get?
@@BevelishCreations Thanks for responding. I got it with Cherry MX Browns. It’s brand new so I considered exchanging it, but wasn’t sure if I’d end up with the same issue.
I don’t think I have spring noise from mine, and I have browns too. It could be subjective though since I haven’t used keyboards not from IQUNIX
@@BevelishCreations I lubed the switches/springs, which massively helped! A bit of a pain, but glad I persevered!
Awesome!
Can 2 of the keys be configured as volume up and down without pressing the function button?
I’m actually not sure. I know they have a software for configuring the keys, but I have not tried
Thank you for the detailed reviews! Unique points of view.
Thanks guys!
What about backlight keycaps? Its a must for late working...
I use a light bar on top of my monitor. And all the keyboards have LED options, but I don’t think they have clear key caps
@@BevelishCreations I have the light bar too and... black keyboard from 3DConnexion - plastic is glossy and I see huge reflections on all keycaps ;) Its preety sux
ouch the spring sound on those cat keys though....
I'm currently using a Logitech G613 which is starting to have some issues. I am looking to upgrade to a hot swappable keyboard so I can experiment with different switches and easily replace them if needed. However, I cannot find any hot swappable keyboards which support AA or AAA batteries. I have been using rechargeable AA and AAA batteries in my keyboards and many other devices and I find it a great benefit to be able to share batteries between my devices. It means I can get by with fewer batteries overall, and it's less of a hassle to maintain them as well, since all rechargeable batteries require maintenance (not to mention they also eventually need to be replaced). Do you know of any brands of hot swappable keyboard which use a more standard battery form factor?
I’m not sure if there are any companies that still make keyboards that use replaceable rechargeable batteries. I think most companies are going away from that
@@BevelishCreations I managed to find one called Hello Ganss. They have a variety of AA battery powered wireless keyboards. I am considering getting the HS108T.
Cool! Thanks for the update
very cool!
just got the IQUNIX F97 Coral Sea Wireless Mechanical Keyboard, RGB LED, ACE
Currently 2.4 GHz Win7 - BT Android, MacOS, iPadAir. I'm curious to try the 2.4 GHz on Linux
Nice! You won’t regret it
can i use it wired whole time ? Any problem with battery ?
Yes you can. No problems with battery
Is it better than gmmk Pro that has lubed shrimp switches?
I haven’t used the GMMK pro, so all I can say is I think these look a lot better haha
Great video quality.
Thanks
love the keyboard! the only modification i did was changing all the alphabet switches to Holy pandas
I’d love to try those switches!
How long does it take for the keyboard to go to sleep?
I’d say around 10 minutes
@@BevelishCreations thx :)
Hitchhiker is best with Cherry MX Browns. The Reds are greart if you do not want bump and game alot but if you want a typing experience do not go for the reds. The browns are the thock thing that you want =)
Agreed
its 257 on their website vs 281 on amazon ! no tax on their website for some reason
There was tax at checkout for me
$250 for a plastic keyboard with those specs is WAY, WAY too high. That full cnc, all the bells and whistles gasket mount territory.
Fair enough if its a conscious decision due to aesthetics or ergonomics but I wish reviewers would stop ignoring or whitewashing the bad value for money. Its gonna lead newbies to thr mech board space to waste their money.
It’s not plastic…
These are all crap. They actually have decent boards with IQUNIX Super line.

Okay. Tell me who to call 😂
