I grew up in Fayetteville, AR so we went there all the time. It closed when I was six. One of my favorite things were feeding the fish--you'd put like a dime in a machine for a handful of fish food and you could throw it in the water & see the fish come and get it. I also really enjoyed this kid's ride with little boats you laid in and it sailed through a little track. I have a lot of pics at Dogpatch. They should restore it & open it. I'd go for sure.
My Grandparents went there back in the 70's. I found some bobble heads that said Dogpatch USA on them. Thanks for the video. It answered my question of where they came from.
I work in the park from 69 to 80, My late husband Ken Murphy and I (Arlene) played music in the Dogpatch Jamboree Building, and other places in the park. I can tell you that the building across from the Jamboree building was Mom's arts and crafts. the upstairs was used as a resting place and to change clothes for workers. On the hill above the crafts building In front of the Jamboree was the Mule ride and ticket office for the Horse back ride and stagecoach ride. shame to see it run down like it is.
Great video...I remember going here as a kid. I was sawed in half at a magic show once, and was married to Daisy Mae (it ended at sundown) on another trip. This was a great park. In 2012 my brothers and I got to explore this now defunct park, the current owners had been on site that day and were gracious enough to allow us to walk around and take pics. Very sad to see it like this, but made for an interesting adventure!
I went to DogPatch USA when i was a kid... I have pictures still at my parents. :) It was a great time ! I wish they would restore it and make it a nice park again. :)
I think this is the best video I've seen of this park after its closure. There is a lot more to see here than I thought actually remained of the place, but then most of the visits previous are often of people who are trespassing and couldn't be as comprehensive as you are here. Those tin sheeting roofs have done a lot to save buildings, the ones with wooden shake roofs are pretty rotten. Excellent video!
My dad used to go here with his family all the time when he was little. When we traveled near there, I got to see what it look like from the outside being abandoned.
Yes, I know I mis-spoke in two places in my narrative. I know the statute was of General Jubilation T. Cornpone, not "Cornwall" as spoken. Also, I know the restaurant I identified as the Fish House Restaurant was not. It was actually the Rainbow Hollow Restaurant. The Fish House Restaurant was the blue building over Mill Creek.
Thank you so much for this video and telling what everything used to be! There's so much I had forgotten, like the "retirement home" with gpa taking a bath outside! I was abt 12 when my grandparents took me, which was more than 30 yrs ago! 😳😨 I remember the paddle boats, tho LoL! 😁👍🏼
Not only was there a stage coach, you could also ride a horse trail. That building where you said there was costumes upstairs, was once the stage depot.
I remember going to Dog Patch when I was a kid. There are so many different things that, that park can be turned into. I don't know how many acres it is but it can be turned into a small off road park, or even a camp ground. With the risk of flash flooding there is not a whole lot you can do there. It looks like a good fishery.
thanks for this video ive been reading up on dogpatch for years and never saw a thoro walk thru like this.. do you have any videos of the ski section at the top of the hill with the chalets and lodge or what remains? always read about that part and it becoming one of the downfalls but nevet had the chance to see it
+UptownMike No, sorry I don't have any video of the old ski slopes or related facilities. I know some of it remains, but I am not knowledgeable about that aspect of the ski slope venture.
The statute of General Jubilation T. Cornpone was last seen sitting on a flat bed trailer behind a shop in Branson, Missouri. How it ended up there and why are unknown to me. The video was filmed on a Saturday during a time when the park was open on Saturdays for those who wanted to walk around and have a look at it. That is why other people are there.
I'm looking at it right now on Land Watch, it's for sale. It looks like it's been rehabilitated some and cleaned up. It can be yours for the low low price of 2,400,00.00 . It looks like they abandoned that though after it became a money pit.
The owner must've made TONS of bread off this place and I'm sure some employees took a little off the top for themselves too as was normal at places like these. My uncle worked at the Bronx zoo when he was a teen in the mid 60's and made enough between taking a dollar from every ten and selling herb to buy a laundromat at 20, sold that and bought commercial real estate, sold that and started buying dilapidated buildings in what would later become some of the highest priced land around the upper 100s in Manhattan and retired a very wealthy man in his mid 40s. I was born in the wrong decade ffs.
Went to Dogpatch when I was young. Then took my kids there probably a year before it closed. Thanks for a great video. Lots of good memories.
Can we just restore my childhood with this park being remodeled? Thank you for sharing this video. It brought back wonderful memories! 😊

warp9p65 dog patch is said to be haunted
They also had what was called a spiral coaster. That was fun. The paddle boats on the other hand were exhausting.
