In her pre audition interview, she introduces herself... saying she hopes that the judges will like her singing, because when she grows up she wants to become a singing superstar. With her full name being Angelina Jordan Astar it must have been pre ordained 😊
Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Loved your reaction!!!

What always drives me insane with Angelina, specially in this performance, is that she has no Idea how deep and emotionally complex the songs that she's singing and yet the agony in her voice tells otherwise. She's truly a gift from above ❤️
Yes, because this song is about suicide, which is why the judge asks her about it. She doesn’t, and shouldn’t, understand that.
But she is right when she answers him, because at its heart the song is about profound sadness. Children know what that feels like. They feel very deep feelings just like adults, and without the experience and tools to process them as well. They just feel those feelings about things we often think are unimportant. But their feelings are just as real.

Gitana, this was her first performance for Norway’s Got Talent. There are three more, each one better than the one before. You must watch them as well. The last one is still one of my all-time favorites of her performances!

It is not either that she sings extremely well for such a little bundle of abundant life and creativity.

Mac Davis, the writer of "In the Ghetto" and a million other songs, died today. He was 78. Complications from heart surgery he had. I hope you will honor him. He was awesome.
I liked his TV show, when he would talk to his audience and improvise songs. A nice guy with a ton of talent. RIP.

Actually she knew 3 languages - she also speaks farsi because her grandmother is Iranian (and possibly more because her grandfather was from Japan and her father is Swedish)

Angelina and her family lived for a while in the USA where her father worked at one time. In many countries a second language is taught at a very early age.
Angelina is fluent in Norwegian and English. She also speaks Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and her father is Swedish. She speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother, the well respected Norwegian Iranian poet and artist Mery Zamani. She also speaks some Japanese. Angelina’s grandfather who passed away about 2 years ago is Japanese.
Her talents don’t stop here. She plays the piano, the flute, the Guitar, the violin, and the organ. She even wrote a book at the age of 9 making her the youngest published author in Norway’s history. It tells the story about why she sings barefoot. When at the age six years old and was travelling with her family in another country, she met a young orphaned shoeless girl around the same age as her who was weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn some money to support herself and her siblings. Without prompting from her parents she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. That evening she recorded that encounter in her diary and vowed to always perform barefooted until all the children of the world had shoes and the necessities of life. Till today she has kept that vow and has helped to raise more than 21 million euros for different charities.
Yes she is speaking three languages fluently at this age. To top that watch her sing. “I Who Have Nothing “ while reading the lyrics in English at age six.
She has grown up in a multi-lingual family. Also, the Norwegian educational system puts a serious emphasis on English studies from kindergarten on up. I had a Norwegian dorm mate in college many years back. He spoke English more fluently than many fellow Americans I've known! :D
The woman judge at the end on the left said as Angelina was leaving the stage "it's like she's been drinking wine from the day she was born."
Just before she goes on stage her mom says "Go and give them jazz".
That was the host of the show not her mom.

And there you have a distillation of the song,'Gloomy Sunday'. As adults we sometimes become victims of rhetoric. When the truth is sometimes just that simple. I was a brat at seven. Had I just been asked the same question, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if had said," weren't you paying attention? I just sang you the answer." I was an early reader and got a little big for my britches, which is Ironic because I was always the smallest not only in my class but usually most of whatever school I was in. This proved to be a not good a combination, a big mouth with a tiny body. Fortunately I learned quickly who to piss-off and who not to.
Angelina was not misnamed, she is as sweet and humble as she is talented. A lady after one of her concerts came up to Angelina and said ' you made me cry' to which Angelina gave the woman a hug and said ' I'm sorry'. The woman explained that it was a good thing. It is hard to believe that the little ragamuffin you saw just now, would grow to be the 6'0" tall beauty that she is today. She got growth cascade. I on the other hand got a growth dribble as I topped out at 5'4" and being 70 now and bowed by years of personal disappointment, I stand a towering 5'3."
Great reaction. I never make it through anything she sings without tears. I don't know if you have reacted to Danelia Tuleshova yet, but she has the same effect on me. Watch her blind audition for The Voice Kids Ukraine. Though she is Kazakh she entered this competition. Yes she is good friends with Dimash. Make sure you get the one with english subbies so you can understand the judges. The whole blind audition lasts 10:30 watch it all. You don't have to react to the whole thing just the first part. The first part went viral and to date has over 59 million views. Even if you don't react you will not be wasting your time.

The leadup to that performance is worth watching, to see her attitude and how she approaches the performance. To see that she is totally relaxed, even bored, waiting for her turn. To see how 'normal' this sort of thing seems to her. At 7 years old. Incomprehensible.
I heard that Norwegians give their kids a teaspoonful of “Talent Syrup” once a week. Angelina must have found few bottles of that syrup and overdosed on them. LOL.

It's great to see you going back to check out Angelina's beginnings. This one really shows how the music is just in her bones. Like you said, you just can't teach that. I think the reason she is so good at what she does is because she is singing the songs that she loves. She seems to have a deep connection with every song she sings. This quote from Angelina tells how she discovered this song all on her own and loved the sound of it....
"The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but "Gloomy Sunday" was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed... I'm talking about jazz queen Billie Holiday. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. So glad that you finally got to this one, her audition for the nationally televised NGT in 2014. After diligent practice in studio work, Angelina delivers a stunner that brought tears to the eyes of adults. Some channel reactors have speculated that she is nervous here, but nay, no nervousness in this little starling. She has the comfortable confidence that many in this world never gain. And yes, cuteness overload.

Dear Gitana, when you mentioned during yesterday's Live doing her first thing I was hoping for her first time in a recording studio instead of this so PLEASE react to her sing I Who Have Nothing when she was 6. When she does a perfect job hitting her first hard note you can see how excited she is. It was Gloomy Sunday that introduced her to the world on Norway's Got Talent however it was her performance of 'Summertime' in the finals of that competition that told the world she would be soon become a superstar with absolutely incredible range and emotion within every song her angelic voice sings. No vocalist has ever had the ability to bring me to tears the way her voice does; she touches your soul. Angelina just humbles everyone with God bestowed gift, absolute she always leaves us speechless, with her charm , calmness, humility , professionalism and that voice straight from heavenly places. Did yo notice the number on her white dress 7008, "7', the number of perfection and completeness in scripture ," 8" the number of a change , new beginnings etc. in the scripture I.E , 7 days one week complete. ' 8" the eight day the beginning of a new week ( new beginnings as it were). Angelina just completed her dream to stardom on national TV at 7 years old as the world opens up to her, and won it at "8" the number of new beginnings as she enters into the national lime light.

Her first public show with Gloomy Sunday was an event of amazement for anyone who experienced it at the time, the emotion that is felt for her first performances, in which she wonderfully connects the her voice and her talent for that aspect of her little bird that plays, is very large and intense and leaves you permanently marked. To think that at 7 years of age she was perfectly able to read, analyze and connect, in a foreign language, without any doubt or fear, with the public and the judges of talent seems impossible. She convinced her mother to join her because she was sure of herself ... at seven years old! In the days following the evening, her online video recorded over 5 million views in a country, Norway, which has as many inhabitants ... 😁 😁
The first judge, at the end of this song, said what remains for me the simplest and most suitable description of Angelina, said: "you are the music", there is nothing more true. ❤️

Thank you so much Gitana for another reaction that is very nearly a carbon copy of every reaction I have to Angelina, even when I've heard a given performance many times. When I watch her and listen to her and lose all awareness that anything else exists I want to lift her into my arms and hug her so tightly! Great vid and reaction, but you really should watch " I'm a fool to want you " as well. The judges let too many people through and had to whittle them down quick;y. They had minutes to choose another song with no more than one musician accompanying them. She just walked out and sang "I'm a Fool" A Cappela and knocked it out the park. Please watch it.

I agree with a comment from another fan. You really should listen to the other performances on NGT now. As good as this one is, she got better with each performance. Within the space of three performances (four if you count the second audition) you can see her grow in confidence and skill. Simply an amazing child.
Searching for videos of Angelina singing is what led me to your channel Gitana so I feel doubly blessed. It's nice to see you're reacting again! When I heard Angelina sing this song, I swore I was listening to Billie Holiday! As it did with a couple of the judges, she brought tears to my eyes. The pre-performance video also provided a bit of a pleasant introduction into her personal life while she waited for her turn to go on stage. I was glad I watched the entire video, from backstage to this performance to where Judge Mia tells the audience that they can go home now. This is usually the second video I share to introduce Angelina to my friends. The first one is the black & white cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins "I Put a Spell on You" when she was 9 years old. ❤️
