    If you compare this 7 year old's version of the song to the original by Billie Holiday,
    when I believe Billie was 29, you will know why all the talk about Billie being
    reincarnated in this girl, for the two songs sound like Billie did both of them. She
    also does this 'vocal chameleon' thing with regard to Dinah Washington's song
    'What A Difference A Day Makes'. Angelina was 8 when she first did that one but,
    once again, she sounds exactly like the original artist.

    Angelina's birthday is January 10 2006. Angelina's commitment to her chosen life pursuit will be come evident as you journey through her singing life. I'll bet you she sang that song all the time before she got to the show. It wouldn't surprise me if she sang that song a thousand times to "get it right". She has that kind of work ethic. She is a trooper she has performed sick through sheer force of will. When she sang with Allen Walker she had a flu bug to get around. She had another bug but still sang, 'Who's Loving You' to a dining room full of donors. Most singers, especially a young one, cannot do what she does.

    This was the first time for her in the lime light. You see a cute little girl walking on stage, barefoot (even then!), wild mane of hair, teeth missing and wearing a little princess dress. As soon as she starts singing the artist emerges and she mesmerizes the jury and audience.
    I invented a word for her: she seems to have a phonographical memory: the song seems to be playing on a tape in her head and she doesn’t lose her pitch or tempo.
    The second round in Norway got Talent shows that even more: she sings ‘I’m a fool to want you’ (Billie Holiday again) a capella and she doesn’t lose pitch or tempo. It’s mind blowing!
    Thanks and keep enjoying yourself!

    Angelina has always had the ability to connect, when she performs you get 100% regardless. Quite simple she’s a perfectionist. Watched a video when she was 5, she was showing off her toys when she showed and explained them she returned it, her toy room was extremely neat as was her bedroom when she showed her wardrobe as if everything had a place. Now that she’s 16 her life still seems very orderly especially in her performances. I don’t think Angelina would or could do a song she didn’t comment 100%.

    At 7 years old, Angelina bursts onto the world stage with this audition for Norway's Got Talent. Her growth over the course of the show is absolutely phenomenal, particularly considering her next performance is an a cappella version of I'm A Fool To Want You. This series of performances sets the scene for her open-air concert at Allsang Pa Grensen, where she amazes everyone with her cover of What A Difference A Day Makes. The next year she records I Put A Spell On You, and the year after that I'm Still Holding Out For You. This young prodigy's early career as a professional musician began with this performance. Simply astounding.

    I never really knew anything from Billie holiday consciously.... And when I heard Angelina sing this one, It made me think she was all over the place and not doing so well and I couldn't realize why the judges were going nuts and crying... After trying to figure it out by watching it like 5 times, And failing, I finally went and listened to the original from Billie holiday... Then I finally Understood

      After discovering Billie Holiday through little Angelina, you must listen to her doing IM A FOOL TO LOVE YOU, a Billie Holiday classic also done for NGT. It's the performance I discovered Angelina. I was scrolling You Tube when I came across this little ragamuffin, wild hair, a tooth missing wearing a long white dress and barefoot channeling Billie Holiday from beyond. I've been mezmorized ever since. Her studio performance of I'm a Fool at eleven or twelve is also jaw dropping.

      Like you, I enjoyed this performance. But, it was my least favorite of the four on NGT. The judges went crazy and were in tears. It was a good performance. But, it didn't touch me like so many of AJ's other masterpieces... I have listened to Billie Holiday for over 60 years. But, somehow I missed this song. I've been in tears for many of AJ songs. (Clearly the greatest singer in my lifetime.) After reading your comment, I listened to Billy Holiday sing "Gloomy Sunday" for the first time... Then I cried and I also "Understood".

    Like a 7-year-9ld Norwegian Billie Holliday. The only difference is I've heard Holliday sing this song many times and it never brought tears to my eyes. How does she work that emotional magic? It's like I never really understood the song till I heard Angelina's version. All those times I listened to Holliday sing it I knew it was a sad song but it never connected with me and yet the first time I heard this performance the feeling flooded in and it touched my heart.

When the judge asked her if she knew what the song was about, she said that it was about a sad day. The judge wanted to know if she knew that this song was about suicide. She didn't, but when her family found out what it was about, she stopped singing the song.

    Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷
    In a interview after this performance Angelina's mom was asked why she was crying during her performance?? Were they happy tears??
    Mom said; " They were happy tears but they were also sad tears because I know I just lost my daughter to the world at that point in time, ♥👣👸🏻🎷

    • @erik-nm5cf
      @erik-nm5cf Рік тому

      @@103mrg For a start: This is no important matter. The performance of Angelina is astonishing regardless of age. But so many are so concerned with her age and constantly comment on it pointing out that she was 7! And they have good reason as she says so herself. But that can't be! Some time ago I put out a wrong date and was corrected. That made me start an investigation to find the truth in this, and the result astonished me: I found that the auditions were held at 3 locations: Trondheim (Nov. 24 - 25, 2013), Os/Bergen (Dec. 8 - 9, 2013) and Oslo (Jan. 25 - 27, 2014). It has been assumed that Angelina performed in Trondheim as she was 7 at that time. But one of the many videos of her audition (perhaps the first to be posted) says that she performed in Oslo: ua-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/v-deo.html . A video from the Trondheim audition shows the judges dressed differently: ua-cam.com/video/r1xmoaRiUrI/v-deo.html , while other videos from the Oslo auditions show the same clothes and even the same audience as in Angelina's case. (Here is one of them: ua-cam.com/video/51qson1SO8I/v-deo.html - a newspaper article tells of this choir performing on the audition in Oslo). - And there are several other documents confirming that Angelina performed in Oslo - on Jan. 25, 2014. So, yes, she had just passed 8 at this performance and we can only guess why she said she was 7 - and lying is not a word I will use here! There may be many other explanations.
      And just to mention it, many (if not most) of the thumbnails from her early career are wrongly marked and not to be trusted. One of the most obvious is this video marked 5yo: ua-cam.com/video/dPJL6u2Ne3g/v-deo.html . In the video, it is clear that her sister Juliette has joined the family. She was born in March 2012, when Angelina was 6! (In an interview from Dec. 2014, she is two and a half yo). Probably in the videos marked as 6yo, she is really 7, or I suspect 8 in one of them.
      But again: Age should not be the focusing point in Angelina's case, but rather the amazingly quick development and improvement of her singing and performing qualities. It rather reminds me of the Disney studios, going from simple Oswald the Rabbit cartoons to Snow White in just 10 years! It is now only 10 years since Angelina played with the toy guitar!

    The captions are *so* screwed up on this version, it's really frustrating.🤨 Here's a much better subtitled version (with the text in the video image itself, not relying on YT's "CC" feature) that is also a lot longer, with more "context" before and after she sings: ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html It's worth checking out, even though you've already seen her performance.

    Immerse yourself in the world of unearthly voice.
    I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world
    1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones);
    2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice;
    3) the incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage;
    4) 70 victories in vocal competitions - a child prodigy;
    5) can sing in any musical genre,
    6) Diana sings in 6 languages: English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic;
    7) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song;
    8) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow;
    9) a large army of fans around the world;
    10) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you;
    11) and now she is also a talented lyricist and composer of her music;
    12) more than 13 thousand reactions. some reactions have 3.5 million views.

      @utna Рік тому

      @@lesbrunswick5137 You are right about the original version of the song. Angelina was performing the version with the added 3rd verse, and that verse shifts the meaning somewhat and lightens the mood a bit as both seem to be alive at the end. That version is now about the fear of losing a loved one, and the probability of "suicide" changes from "definitely" to "conceivable". But it is still about suicide, though.
