And some give you *zero* idea what the show is about, like Chicken Soup. New shows need viewers and new viewers need to know what they'll be watching.

I remember Open House, but I remember it was originally called Duet. I met Chris Lemmon several times in the 90s and never remembered he was on that show. He came into my work several times and I always begged him to bring his father, Jack Lemmon, next time so I could meet him. I was obsessed wih Jack Lemmon at the time.

So weird remembering that "Family Matters" did not originally have Urkel in the cast or that "Baywatch" looked vastly different when it premiered on NBC from what we know of it in syndication. Plus, wow, Ellen DeGeneres, Allyson Hannigan and Halle Berry before they were famous. Not to mention, jeez, the 80's and that hair!

@@YDNTK-ui4uc , yeah I was just going to say that Steve Urkel wasn't really a household name yet. But as the show got more popular, he was eventually added to the regular cast, and to Carl's frustration level.

This is really interesting. Not so much for the shows, which seem mostly forgettable, but for the huge range of visual styles. Everything from nostalgia for the FBI of 1962 to the breakthrough caused by late 80s advances in video editing. Even a late 70s/early 80s style hand-drawn animation with The Nutt House.

@@119Agent Hard to tell, since they both started in 89. But Up All Nite lasted 10 years, and I don't recall exactly when I first began watching it. But it was definitely no later than 90

Oh, sure. Who doesn't like a show about an FBI agent who acts like a NYC cop? 😒

Thanks for these - it's amazing how many shows we didn't hear of in Australia, let alone see them.
My conclusion from watching your videos - Jo Swerling must have been the busiest person in TV. His name seemed to be on every second show.

I remember Booker, a spin off of 21 Jump Street. The female lead was replaced by Lori Petty.

MAJOR DAD and FAMOUS TEDDY Z, linchpin of CBS' Monday. My mother loved Jackie Mason and I couldn't convince her that CHICKEN SOUP was a stinker. BAYWATCH--got the last laugh when it went into syndication (remember that?) Never got into FAMILY MATTERS. Don't remember most of the rest of them.

    Many did not.

I remember on "Family Matters" how the youngest daughter just kind of disappeared all of the sudden without explanation. It was like we were just supposed to act like she never existed. Strange. 😄

Wish Simpsons was on here, though I get that while it was supposed to premiere in the fall, it didn't actually debut til December due to episodes needing to be reanimated.

Out of that sorry lot, I only remember seeing The Nutt House & Alien Nation. I was upset that both shows got axed that very year.
Rescue 911 would begin a curse that lives on...Reality TV.
