Hello Jebbie. As a new EV owner, to an Volvo C40 Twin Recharge, i've found your videos very helpfull and therefore want to say thank you for your hard work. Your full google infotainment walkthroughs and general Volvo EV videos have been a huge help transitioning and learning alot about my new car.
One pedal drive I found actually very easy to start using and I think it's just excellent and such a convenient way to drive. I drive with it enabled ALWAYS 😁👍.
So again thank you and good work 😀

Thanks for this video Jebbie! I live in the UK and have just purchased a XC40 Recharge plugin hybrid. The center screen and terminology over here is different to the US so I hope that the info in the video applies to the Volvos over here. I have spent “hours” in my XC40 trying to figure out how to operate everything and have found your videos helpful. Unfortunately, as I said, there are major differences in the setup and operating instructions. I find that the online manual is exhausting to use and you have to keep digging to get the instruction as to how to use most functions. Thanks Again!!

Your videos are great for a new owner likes me. My understanding is that regen breaking is less efficient than coasting because you're preserving kinetic energy rather than turning it into electricity and charging the battery which of course it's not 100% efficient. Presumably that's why Volvo offer the auto OPD mode so that it coasts unless there's a car in front then you get the heavy regen.

I still can't get used to the one pedal drive. I don't like having my foot in a certain tension all the time, because I have to maintain its position so that it doesn't go into braking. I'm more comfortable with having one pedal dedicated to acceleration and the other for braking. And when I'm cruising, or driving with adaptive cruise control (my favorite feature), I can keep my feet on the floor and not worry about anything.
So while I'm recuperating less than if I were using one pedal drive, I feel more relaxed after the ride. And especially with the cruise control. It's a real blessing on long motorway journeys. I set a reasonable speed (usually 115-120mph), hang behind a car, turn on lane assist and adaptive cruise control, take my feet off the pedals and enjoy a totally relaxing drive.

Hi Miroslav, thanks for the comment. I think you would really like the level of back force on the PHEV. It is half of the pure EV. I actually hope in the future versions of the car they will have different levels of one pedal.
I agree with you in the cruise control. Just used it tonight after a long day. Always a nicer drive. Thanks again

As a truck driver used to having exhaust brake, i have been wanting this for years on my own car. Planning to buy a 2023 V60 next year :)

Sorry for delay. It is one of favorite features in driving EV/PHEV. V60 is really one of a kind. I am not sure of any other wagon I like. As much. Thanks for commenting

wow! What a big tip, about de B mode. Just like my Tesla and just like I imagine Volvo should be doing to maximize all breaking energy. Thank you mate.

Thank you for this and many other informative videos! I found that my C40 is able to engage OPD when settings are English (US), but not in Norwegian, which is my native language. I reported this to Volvo, so maybe they align Google on that subject. 🙂 Again, thanks for excellent and instructive videos!😄🌞

Chet thanks for this. I have had no experience with anyone using multiple languages. Your experience helps me a lot. Enjoy your C40. Really like the Pixel lights!

Thanks for your videos! My XC60 is coming soon, and your videos are helpful. I would like it if you could make a video with all the voice commands we can give to Google, and I mean things like setting-up things that you can't while driving; I know the temperature is one of them; in this video, I just learned that you can turn on or off "one pedal drive". Thanks!!

      Litzanna,
Congratulations on your arriving XC60! That is a really great idea. It’s funny that I keep trying different things and they work.
For example I was driving in very heavy rain and didn’t want to take my eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. I said turn on front defroster and it works!
If anyone comes across an interesting command that works please do let me know. I will definitely try and put up a list somewhere which can get added to.
      Thanks for a great idea!

Great video! Thanks! I'm picking up an XC40 recharge next week. I haven't decided whether I will use one-pedal driving (I've only tried it on a Tesla Model Y before). My other car is an ICE XC90, so not sure how easy it would be to switch back-and-forth between a car that uses one-pedal and an ICE car that doesn't provide one-pedal driving. Question: have there been any studies on how much better (percentage-wise) mileage will be using with one-pedal on versus off? I know, mileage is highly dependent on the driver, but wondering if there's been studies on average savings with one-pedal driving. Thanks.

I am not aware of any specific data that I can share with you. Having driven the same route commuting I have noticed a difference. However have driven one pedal for years it more than just efficiency. It is more more fun to drive this way, for many I speak too.
It is so much nicer and easier than two pedals. Now I’m used to it, I would prefer to drive this way even if it did nothing! Every one pedal driver usually says the same. Try forcing yourself to use it for two weeks and you will be hooked.

Hi, it is possible that when you drive on B mode in lower speed and you would like to accelerate, there will be long delay in acceleration. I am trying to figure out why I have this problem only on B mode?

Been driving my c40 for slightly more than a month. Been enjoying OPD but find it annoying that the brake lights gets activated everytime i let go of the pedal. Is there any way around this?

Enjoy your new XC60. I really enjoy the B drive because the braking action is not as strong as the Pure EV and you still get the benefit of regeneration. Thanks for watching
