Barnum Museum is such a great place to start with Steven Millhauser! He has several other short story collections and one of his novels won the Pulitzer back in the 90s.
Ooh, The House of Dudley sounds really good! I really want to continue delving more into Tudor England. The tea sounds really good too! I love cinnamon in my tea.
@@Coffee_and_a_Book the Tea is one of the best Cinnamon ones I’ve ever had! House of Dudley was SO interesting and I really appreciated her approach in wanting to tell an unbiased/ full picture story. ☺️
@@ReadBecca Dudley was wild! And so enlightening. It felt like story time (hard to believe) but was factual. Poor Miss Finch was 😊 great. Not as intriguing or suspenseful as WiW but fun and the characters were very human and quirky (in the best way) ♥️
Home at Grasmere by Dorothy Wordsworth with Poems by William Wordsworth sounds lovely. Interesting about editing journals and what should be included/edited out. I think it depends on the point of the publication. If I were a student and cared about, for example, the weather in a particular month in a particular year, then a scholarly unabridged collection including the rain would be useful. But if I simply wanted a lovely illustrated literary sampling of her journals to put on my coffee table, then the rain entry wouldn't matter as much. 😄
Hmmm I have given up on Thomas Hardy but I might try the Trumpet Major. I did like one other by him - the Woodlanders maybe? And Far From the Madding Crowd was OK. Good to know about Three Men on the Bummel - I will not bother with that one!
That's a shame about 3 Men on the Bummel. I've probably asked this before but have you read To Say Nothing of The Dog by Connie Willis? That's a delightful sort of sequel.
Poor Miss Finch is such a delight! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@miriamelizabethreads it really is! ♥️
I tend to like Hardy a lot, even the tragic ones, so The Trumpet Major sounds great! Sounds like you had a great October!
@@amusicalbookworm Christy really LOVED Trumpet Major, so there’s a very good chance you’ll like it 😂♥️

The House of Dudley seems very interesting, Tudor era history always seems so wild!
Another winner from Wilkie Collins! I need to give that one a try.

I haven't read Woodlanders and One semi-win with Trumpet Major isn't going to get me back to reading Hardy 😂

@@AaronReadABook I haven’t, but I really enjoyed Connie’s Doomsday Book so I’ll look into it!
@@novelideea It's complete opposite in tone to Doomsday book, she's a wonderful writer.
