Hello! A friend of mine was just given this as a house warming present, so I made a couple of lots of coffee with it, including some experimentation.
    1. Removing the jug with it turned on does mean the coffee has a brief amount of brewing time, before you have to put the jug in place to stop it overflowing, however, the rush of coffee when you replace the jug produces a pit in the filter, which need re-positioning before you can continue to brew. So overall this is a bad idea.

    2. The second run through I just left it to do it's thing. I checked it half way through to see if the coffee had pitted and it was actually looking pretty nice. The ground coffee was nicely saturated with water, so I think it was brewing nicely. Perhaps the thickness of the filters may be a good way to alter how much brewing goes on with this machine. It's a lovely size and looks good. We used slightly more coffee than recommended and were pleased with the strength of the cup. :-)

5 scoops of 7g coffee into the basket.
    Use PAPER filters.
    Boil your kettle.
Pour it over the coffee in the basket (use paper filters)
Pour the rest into the tank up to 3/4 full.
Stair the coffee in the basket.
    Leave it about 20-30 seconds.
Close the lid, switch the machine on.
Now (not before!) place your jug into place on the machine.
The water will start to fill in to the coffee jar straight away.
Once it’s finished brewing, now top up the rest of the jar with tbe kettle.
Perfect effortless coffee every single time.
Is this method more hassle than just using the machine as intended?
Not really as tbe only difference is to boil a kettle. No big deal at all. And worth doing for perfect coffee every single time

Yeah - there are several rebrandings of these machines in different parts of the world, or so I hear :) - Kat

@thePowerPlant We did try them at SCAA in the spring and they were pretty rad :) They are on the roster for research/testing for the new year, so stay tuned. Agree on the kMix assessment - Kat

Do you have access to the Bonavita or Melitta coffee makers? If so, they're my favorite under $200 - Kat

haha, at around 2:06 when she said, "This is twilight," I was thinking, "what does coffee have to do with a novel about vampire romance?"
It took me a second to realize she was actually talking about the coffee. I felt so silly :)

Will you guys get a review unit for the new hotness (AKA the Bonavita coffee machines) soon??? I hear they are just as good as the Technivorms. KMix is cool, but it would seem that function follows form on this one.

    Hi Sarah
Is there any possibility that you guys can make a big review test on 5 cups coffee machines?
It is very difficult to find one that is good and that will make good coffee and fit in a small kitchen.
    Please

      Seattle Coffee Gear
      Hi Gail
In the end of the review, you said that you where going to try it out with a paper filter, to see if the taste got stronger, did it?
And did it the coffee taste better or worse?
I've also been looking on other coffee maker, but there isn't so much information out there, maybe you guys can help out with reviews?
WMF AromaOne: New premium product from WMF, it's tiny, makes more cups then one. But almost no reviews out there.
MELITTA Single 5: Should be good. Melitta just received a Approval from European Coffee Brew Centre, with their MELITTA Excellent 3.0. But it looks and feels a little cheap.
Zoijrushi Zutto: Got tons of good consumer reviews, but I think it's discontinued. Zoijrushi has made a smaller 4 cups, but that one looks like it is not as good put together as the Zutto.
Hario Coffee King V60: Japanese, expensive around $200, no reviews.
Melitta Aromaboy: Tiny, Cheap and don't know if it can brew and hold optimal temperature.
Well that's the one's I have been looking at. And I prefer glass crate's for thermal crate's.
Thank you all the great, fun reviews :)

Can you please let me know if I can make tea in this kind of coffee makers?

    • @SeattleCoffeeGear
      @SeattleCoffeeGear  9 років тому +1

Hello Diana Abbasi, We have never tried brewing tea in this coffee maker. You probably could technically do it, but I wouldn't advise it because you are unable to program the specific temperature to what the type of tea you are using should be steeped at. Plus, now that I think about it you wouldn't really be able to steep using this machine because the water passes right through the grounds and it would do the same with tea. ~ Sarah

Hello Diana Abbasi, Thank you for the request! However, we are unable to do a video on the Delonghi Brillante coffee maker, as it looks like the Delonghi Brillante is not currently available in the United States. ~ Sarah
