Lukas F. Hartmann: Question Everything: How we Shipped an Open Hardware Laptop by Breaking the Rules

After 4 years of (re)designing and prototyping an alternative portable computer that is repairable, user-controlled and as open and documented as possible (with electronics designed in KiCAD), MNT Research, a small team with no VC, managed to ship the first few hundred devices to backers. On the way MNT made many mistakes and learned valuable lessons. Often, the team had to do the opposite of established wisdoms. In this talk, MNT Research founder Lukas F. Hartmann will illustrate some of the more important take-aways that will hopefully benefit anyone pursuing open hardware projects.
