I've loved the Spazzy's for ages and I know this is years after the event but I'm quite surprised that nobody has asked who Paco was. Just for those of you who don't know, he is the drummer with 'Retarded' who are an amazing band from Italy. Check 'em out.
In 2004 I went to see Marky Ramone do a spoken word show at the Corner Hotel. The Spazzys opened. I had never heard of them and was just blown away. I bought the CD single of this that evening as they didn't have an album out yet. What an awesome band. Shame they didn't keep going. Managed to see them several times live and they were always fun.
I was at that show too. I first saw them opening for The Distillers at the Hifi Bar. Distillers were boring but the Spazzys were great. After that night, I rarely missed a Spazzys show played in Melbourne, saw them play many times at The Espy, The Tote, The Arthouse and various other places. I remember they played two years in a row at the Ding Dong lounge on new years eve with Mach Pelican. Both scorching summer night where the temperature outside seemed to stay at 40+ degrees all night long.
I miss seeing them. Ally now has a business doing Kiddyrock gigs with her friends. I remember one of their last gigs was on a rooftop. They got a pizza delivered to the ground during the Community Cup
Hey so I literally just discovered this band like 20 minutes ago and Im already a little obsessed. They’re absolutely amazing how are they not more known?
Oh you're up for a drama. just don't search for the member's "doings", and enjoy the music, and you'll be fine. there's the full album on youtube of Aloha Go Bananas and it's suuuuch an awesome album haha
"Second verse, different from the first" sounds like a nod to Hermans Hermits who use the line "second verse, same as the first" in the track "henry viii"
@@thegoldensubway4182 actually your right there is a similar line in that track... The Ramones are a massive influence on The Spazzys style. Thinking about it a bit more deeply The Ramones were influenced by a lot of 50s and 60s music, from when they grew up. so one could see a chain of influence there... Hermits Hermits>The Ramones>Spazzys... that seems logical and also pretty awesome to see such ideas extend through these three musical generations
@@the_real_bin_chicken I agree.Well said. Every band is influenced by someone ,somewhere at sometime. Some bands get commercial success and a lot don't.I guess that's the evolution of the music industry.I could rant all I want about bands that wouldn't have had great success if it wasn't for a particular band. No one cares when you make that argument..
You know how many jobs I have had to change because of a little bit of choof. Lol you don't wanna know. I think I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it here. About 13 years ago around 2007AD I was a patroli doing my rounds in a security car. On one of my hits was at a girls private school and The Spazzys reformed and we're guest appearing that night. They were all busy setting up their equipment. Something happened to me then after that I need and or not need an answer for and wherther I should mention here in this domain, mmmm maybe some other time 😆.
The drummer worked at "off ya tree" in ringwood and got fired for being too stoned. What a legend
