    So I’m assuming these are dcc, can you make dcc trains travel towards each other? 2 trains, 2 directions of travel on the same track?

    Price point is certainly out of my range but, they are a remarkable and quite beautiful commemorative model set. Thanks for the efforts to present this work of art to the model railroad enthusiast masses!

    Ken,
    Wow! what incredible models these are! Thank you & to Gale Cousins for showcasing these awesome models. I'm liking the craftsmanship and attention to detail (also the sound). Bringing notice segments like this to the hobby on what's really neat and happening is another reason why I just love this "World's Greatest Hobby". Keep bringing these wonderful informative segments please! I'm your biggest fan next to: Michele, Mike, Sugar fire, Daniel, Campbell etc, etc, etc. 😊 Thanx Thom...

    I’d stain and finish that wood chest, that’s really nice packaging! Do all LGB trains come in a chest like that?

    And I thought back in 2006 a GG1 for €3500,- was expensive.

    These sets are going to be hoarded by guys with lots of money, they will never leave the box, and in 10 to 15 years they will show up on eBay starting at $20k then will go to $10k and then go to "make offer".

    I read that when the whistle is activated, the 'steam' actually blast out of it.
    Did this work? as I couldn't really tell from the video.

    Nice to look at, but like the Crocodiles outta my price range. Maybe I'll hit the lottery, then I'd have a nice mantle set.
    By the by, why not ask if the Cousins can bring by one of the Swiss Crocodiles for a fantasy locomotive. It is a spectacular model.

      I'm getting the 400 feet of Back yard railroad track back into shape this month so we can show more of what they have to offer on the show.. It's warm this week and my Nasty bout with the Flu for the past 4 days is over thank god....I'm back on my game to have the garden RR working in the next few days.. And then here come tax week... yikes......

    I'm happy with my HO scale Jupiter and #119. They make a nice display. They don't take up too much real estate. Nobody but me cares about them and they cost me less than 200 bucks. Me spend 10 grand on toys? Surely you jest. If I had 10 grand for toys, it wouldn't be for toys, that's for damned sure.

    A very cool set, although I don’t know if it’s a $10,000 worth of cool :P Especially with Märklin now owning LGB.

    Beautiful models. Great for collecting but for the price and outdoor running why not go live steam? Still very neat though.

    A near perfect pair of milestone models that are great to view and run.
    But a pity 1:29 is used so much for standard gauge trains on 45mm track. When you do the math it is equivalent to using 1:79 scale for HO on 16.5 mm track. 1:29 reasoning very shaky. Would still be tempted if I saw a pair in my local hobby shop, but unlikely to be in many hobby shops.

    • @scottfw7169
      @scottfw7169 4 роки тому +1

      The history to 1/29, from what I've seen published through the years is that 1/32 is the correct scale for representing standard gauge on 45mm gauge 1 track and is used in most places around the world, but, some decades back, US modelers decided that 1/32 was not visually different enough from the 1/48 and 1/43 scales used with O gauge track, so the US modelers bumped up the scale a bit to 1/29.

    • @scottfw7169
      @scottfw7169 4 роки тому

      And, that "equivalent to using 1:79 scale for HO on 16.5 mm track" is pretty close to British OO scale, here's how that came about: 1920s and 1940s British steam locomotives are enough smaller than their US and continental cousins that getting 1930s, 1940s, electric motors inside HO models was a bit of an issue, so ... tweak the model scale from HO's 3.5mm/foot to 4mm/foot, i. e. 1/76, and keep right on using 16.5 mm gauge HO track. Correct track gauge for OO scale is 18.83mm and there are a number of groups who use and suppliers who provide for it.

      I just took my 1/29th scale measuring stick to a set of G scale wheels on Micro Engineering code 240 rail (240thousands) and it comes out to 4 feet 9 inches between the rails. that's 1 scale inch off from prototype 4 foot 8 inches.. that's just about perfect to me.. That's why Aristo Craft and Trains USA, MTH, LGB 4-4-0's look so good to the rail in 1/29th scale.

    • @tex-hogger4974

      @@Kensart55 The gauge is actually 8 feet, 1.5 inches between the rails.
