I must admit my great appreciation for Steam driven passenger trains has reached a new high and my envy meter has peaked out! You are one very lucky man. Enjoy your train. ~ Ken
Once bitten by the PRR Bug few recover!!! I have a Weaver T-1 as I run conventional and it was cheap! A number of my wife's family worked for the PRR out of Altona Pa and I have learned to love it myself. One of her uncles ran the S-1!! Good lookin train!
The PRR duplexes are really incredible steam locomotives. As said designed wise, very much one of a kind. I'm also not a big PRR guy However I'm a huge transition era guy (in HO) and love steam pulled big passenger trains so I will be for certain buying a Duplex eventually in the future along with those gorgeous passenger trains.
Can I be honest? The Pennsylvania steam engine you have is beautiful. It’s stupendous and phenomenal. It’s outstanding and don’t ever deny it. It’s perfectly made for entertainment and getting a lot of attention, my man I say you should run this more often but I do understand if it took some work to repair it and restore it, but hey in the end it’s entertaining fun and outstanding to watch. Please run the steam engine more and more in the near future.
It’s absolutely stunning! A slight observation/correction if I may: per your comment at 4:03, Lionel did make a T1 Duplex with whistle steam, it just wasn’t offered for very long. It was in their Lionmaster series, designed to run on tighter curves with some aesthetic sacrifices made to accommodate the smaller curve radii. I believe the model was 6-11207. I used to own one, it’s the only reason I know. Other than that, what a pleasure to see some Pennsy steam on your layout! More, please!
Wow, that is indeed one beautiful locomotive and passenger train! Sid really did marvelous work and made your T-1 a very special model. Loved watching the video. You always do such a great job. Have a wonderful weekend! Bill B.
A great aquisition Jason! And young Mr. Sid is an absolute wizard! A better wizard than Harry Potter in fact, because Sid's real! (And he's a braver man than I am! When I saw the "skins" off those units and all the boards and wires my blood ran cold!) Superb modifications, especially the "chuffs" of both driver units trying to beat each other out of the smokestack! And the whistle steam? What can we say? Perfection itself. AND add on those "Fleet of Modernism" cars and you've got the perfect Post-War Broadway Limited! Thanks for sharing it with us! I wouldn't blame you if you stay down the basement all week running the thing and only come up for bathroom breaks! PS: A little bit of T1 history. When the first two hit the PRR property they were so exotic and futuristic-looking Pennsy enginemen nick-named them "Flash Gordon" and "Buck Rogers!" /
Awesome loco!!! Pennsy ran through Ohio many years ago, there line ran through my town, about1/2 mile from my house. the rails have been pulled up, but you can see where they were. thanks for sharing! Go Bucks !!!!
Very nice locomotive and passenger cars…and your layout sets them off beautifully. Almost like they were created to compliment each other…impressive doesn’t even begin to describe it
This video is a must for any model railroad fan, Jason! This more than generous gift couldn't be given to a more deserving person for your years of promoting O gauge 3 rail and hosting train-a-palooza! Calling on input from Sid and RJ has helped put the icing on the cake! Please run this unique gem often!
Just purchased a brand new MTH Premier PS1. Going to have my friend Vern upgrade it to PS3. I really love yours and wish that I could Sid upgrade mine just like he did yours. Got it off E Bay for $540. I have a Weaver T1 that I am going to sell to another friend. I was going to have ERR installed with other upgrades. JD continues to inspire this old man
Your T1 with its upgrades and mods is simply incredible! It’s a beautiful locomotive (real or model) to start with but, man oh man, this one of a kind is stellar! And the gorgeous set of passenger cars to go with it make it a rock star set!! I have no doubt you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Awesome locomotive! A true one of kind design (the real T1 and your model). The drivers in motion are so mesmerizing. The whistle steam is the cherry on top. Also love the shots of it in the roundhouse, very cool.
Considering the popularity of Pennsy steam, it boggles the mind that no one has made o scale T1s in recent years. This video shows just how amazing a new scale model could look and sound.
Super Sweet! Your best locomotive and train yet. I have one of these but I haven't attempted to upgrade it yet. I also have a Lionel model and a Weaver. I too love this locomotive!
Jason, with those upgrades from Sid, that is the best passenger set you have in your collection. That sound file blows away what Lionel or MTH puts with their locomotives.
That is one gorgeous locomotive, Jason. I'm quite jealous, for sure. Sid did a fantastic job on the upgrades. The whistle steam is just plain cool and the sound set is perfect. The T1 is my second favorite passenger locomotive, just behind my favorite locomotive of all time, the S1 and just a tad ahead of the Milwaukee Road's A's and F7 Hiawatha's. It looks real nice heading the Trailblazer. They were brutally fast locomotives, but they had some issues with the Franklin Poppet valves at very high speed. Franklin sent some of their engineers to ride along and they documented that the valve gear could fail at speeds approaching 135 mph and recommended that they shouldn't exceed the 130 mph mark. Just amazing engines. The Pennsy had a fairly decent presence in Cleveland. They operated the Cleveland Line and joined the NYC at Drawbridge and serviced Whiskey Island. I took a number of trains in and out of there during my career. It was always cool to see the marquee on the Agora, all lit up at night. It was a great time running trains through Cleveland. An excellent video, as always.
Jason, I have loved that engine for a long time and definitely share your enthusiasm for it. I also have the MTH Premiere version but it remains in its original PS1/Q1 state. But my first T1 acquisition was a 1989/1990 ROWI brass engine. It is really well done but the electronics left something to be desired so I had it modified with a Q2 kit. I think that is likely as far as I'm willing to go with it (it is a piece of history with only 350 made) and I have the MTH version to run for fun. I also have 10 K-Line heavyweight Tuscan passenger cars to go with it. I understand your enthusiasm about the T1 and what a joy it is to see it running around the layout. My layout is predominantly PRR stream so I have to say you found a great engine to start modeling the "Standard Railroad of the World." Your videos a great. Keep them coming.
I love this model! I agree it is the best O scale T1 mode yet. It sounds like MTH is using some K&L Trainz sound effects. The bell is taken from their NYC Dreyfuss Hudson
Now,for the piece-de-resistance is a NYC,proposed, never built C-1 Class Duplex! Nice companion to the T-1!! Beautiful engine, and well done!! Thank you!!
Sid did a fine job upgrading that T-1. I have a few PA RR steam engines. The largest one being the Q-2. Maybe one day I'll get me a T-1. Thanks for run session JD.
I have the ho scale version of the T1 and it’s coach set and it is all time favorite set. The 20th century limited is a close second. But the T1’s design is what takes the cake for me.
Gorgeous engine and that is a great idea to upgrade it like that, never thought you could add whistle steam to an older engine. BTW Lionel Lionmaster Legacy T1 has whistle steam effect 😁
Not a big fan of art-deco trains but if someone did all those mods for me: instant convert! Well done Sid with the whistle steam and sounds - it's a beast!
I can't wait till the T1 Trust is finished building there New T1 Pennsy that's being built to reclaim the title of the World's Fastest Steam Engine. Need a Q2 Pennsy Steam Engine the Most Powerful Steam Engine in the World 👍🏻👍🏻
I do not have works to describe watching and hearing the T1 6110 and passenger cars. You also have a cool layout. I am retired and in my seventh decade. I was vague memories of riding Santa Fe and Rock Island passengers trains between Rockford ILL. and NE Kansas.
THAT WHOLE SET UP IS FLY SON!!! THE TRAIN IS BEAUTIFUL. GOOD LUCK WITH IT. 👍👍👍👍ARE YOU GONNA KEEP YOUR TABLE PLAIN WOOD OR ARE YOU GONNA COVER IT WITH GRASS PAPER? AND WHAT ABOUT THE MOUNTAINS?
Fun fact, while the whistle steam is a first on the PS3, the Lionel legacy Lionmaster T1 was ALSO equipped with whistle steam despite it being a semi scale model
@@JDStucks TRUE! Honestly more of a flex when you think about it, knowing Lionel tho they’ll just randomly drop a new tooling of the T1 here in about 2 years with whistle steam, or whenever 5550 is finished, still tho that’s an amazing looking model my friend!
Awesome train! Looking forward to when I can have my trains up and running again. Still trying to find a contractor to fix up my detached garage that I've got my layout and art studio in currently. Don't want to get it running now because it's not climate controlled, and to get the building fixed up, I'm going to have to move everything out and put it in the garage attached to the house, which also means parking my Jeep outside in the driveway. Love this engine, and glad to see it upgraded! I’m jealous about the sound file. Need to do the same thing to my Duplex. Wonder if I could buy it from Sid?
Have you noticed it looks like you might have a low spot at the tunnel entrance on the right? Never saw that before in your videos. Might need to adjust a leg.
I have a crazy idea for this thing opening excursion in real life. What if they do a double header with the 611 and run it all the across the eastern United States. From New York to North Carolina.
If anyone has any MTH trains they’re looking to give away to someone who will appreciate them..just let me know I’ll send you my address:) I was sold a used set by a collector years ago..I had already bought one Southern 30-1226-1 with 30-6934 & 30-6935 from him..on payments… And on the day I went to pay it off, he asked if I had any more money on me..I had $200 He told me to take this Hiawatha 20-3438-1e, and 20-3438b & 20-3438c…and pay what I could when I could. They were easy to run, but a pain to put together and even more difficult to set-out a bad order on the line of road. The problem with the RoadRailer trailers, along with all trailers meant for intermodal use, is that they are heavier than standard trailers. They are built to withstand the rigors of rail travel and also being on and off loaded onto flats. The RoadRailer's tires had to be lifted, so they didn't come in contact with the rails. I had one set lower enroute and it tripped a dragger. It was a pain, for sure. Either way, it is mostly their excess weight that keeps them from being used in normal trucking applications.

Certainly an eye opener and loaded with unique features. Great angles in your filming. Thanks Jason 👍👍👍

One of the coolest engines out there. Excited to see it restored and to get one of my own in HO or N soon.

The PRR T1 4-4-4-4 "Duplex" is amazing, but not ENTIRELY. But I'm more of a PRR K4, J1, E2 (Not Thomas the Tank Engine), and the M1's.

I'll probably get my hands on one. Right now I'm using two TIUs with two WTIUs.
VERY COOL.
I heard rumours there is a new one being built
What a great engine! Sad to see you caved and have such a terrible railroad in your collection though!
A Q2 and some K4s are probably going to arrive next.
Ain't that the truth
So cool Jay
Being a Central modeler means you need a little PRR to race!
Hi ... 👋 😀 ... Jason !!
Your T-1 navigated curves easily !! Are the drive wheels articulated ?
I am very impressed with the beauty and operation of your locomotive !!
My son and I have a Pennsylvania T-1 in our collection ... the one made by Right-Of -Way Industries !! We have been enjoying it for decades !! I grew up on the east coast and saw Pennsylvania trains in operation !!
I enjoy your videos a lot !! I used to make them myself with my son ... Jeff !! I know what a lot of work it is !!
Thanks !! Bob.
They are not articulated. So I believe the engine requires O-72 curves.
Another great video!!
All that thing needs now is a custom NS paint job!!
LOL!
damn, that engine is nice.
Almost as nice as a Supra!
Well done on the video! 🎉
Love this engine, and glad to see it upgraded! I’m jealous about the sound file. Need to do the same thing to my Duplex. Wonder if I could buy it from Sid?
Doesn't hurt to reach out!
And some guy in Pennsylvania is building a real one.
Yes, the T1 Trust!
That's GREAT!!!
If you like the T1 you should check out the PRR Q2
I have the PS3 version I used your code when I got it from trainz. It has a quilling whistle but no smoke unfortunately. Love your upgrades.
The chuffed sound file sounds like thr big boy but the whisle is different
I'm there 😊, or here.
Have you noticed it looks like you might have a low spot at the tunnel entrance on the right? Never saw that before in your videos. Might need to adjust a leg.
This big mountain tunnel or the one that goes under the future town? I know I have a few little dips. Hard to fix at this point.
I have a crazy idea for this thing opening excursion in real life. What if they do a double header with the 611 and run it all the across the eastern United States. From New York to North Carolina.
Very nice brotato
The M1 is a spectacular engine plus it can pull a whole lotta' freight cars.
Where did you get the propane tank facility? I've been looking for one like that.
Lionel came out with those years ago. I'm sure you could find them for sale online or at shows.
Incredible! Do you think he'd make more? Lol
Sure! But you'd need to supply the engine, donor board, and $$$ for labor.
If anyone has any MTH trains they’re looking to give away to someone who will appreciate them..just let me know
I’ll send you my address:)
I was sold a used set by a collector years ago..I had already bought one Southern 30-1226-1 with 30-6934 & 30-6935 from him..on payments…
And on the day I went to pay it off, he asked if I had any more money on me..I had $200
He told me to take this Hiawatha 20-3438-1e, and 20-3438b & 20-3438c…and pay what I could when I could.
He told me he wanted to see video of it running since all he did was collect them to look at..he wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it and run it.
But no one ever just gave me trains..not yet anyway :)
What's your thoughts about the triple crown ROAD RAILERS NOT BEING USED ANYMORE AND POSSIBLY OFF BEING SCRAPED
Very sad. My favorite kind of freight train EVER.
Were the passenger cars upgraded to LED as well?
Nope. Original MTH lights.
Very cool Jason, I’m trying to get into O scale, are MTH ps1 locos still considered high quality and good? Thanks!
If you like command control you should upgrade them to PS2 or PS3. But an original PS1, with a replaced battery, can still be a great runner.
@@JDStucksok thanks man! Just getting into o scale and I don’t have a huge budget to buy a DCS system and ps3 or 2 locos.
How come smoke doesn't come out the stack when at idle? I prefer that it does, it just looks a whole lot better.
I think the smoke unit was cooled down when it was idling. But I can often get a lot of smoke during idling.
Turn off the bell, for heaven's sake! Otherwise, great loco, and thanks for the video.
Lol. I did turn it down later.
