Well we all can say that she should've sung a mezzo repertoire that singing the lyric soprano like o mio babbino caro. Though all her years she have improved her voice alot.
she hits the notes and it sounds really good. It's a strange attitude I find where some people have this belief that people should only sing the music if they are the voice type that sung it in the first performance.

The emotion that This aria needs is not there which is very disappointing because I am head over heels in love with "O Mio Babbino Caro."However, I have to say that Katherine's version of "Nimrod" is absolutely beautiful as are most of the songs that she sings.
I agree. Besides she is incredibly beautiful as well. I saw her when she acted in Buenos Aires and after the show she came to the lobby to sign autographs. After she signed mine she looked at me with those stunning eyes and really shocked me...

Aside from her beautiful singing and charismatic presence on a stage, she makes you believe with her acting that she is the 15 year old naïve and petulant girl Puccini wrote about in his gorgeous little aria. Listen to Carmen sing Song To The Moon and then listen to Katherine Jenkins sing it and you will hear and see the difference in the two performances. Katherine injects no real feeling or passion into the aria whatsoever. It is lifeless compared with Carmen's achingly beautiful reading of it.

Second, I've heard undergrad music ed students sing the aria better than she can without gulping for air and coming off the voice and that atrocious ending. The truth is she doesn't have the technical ability to sing it, as proved by her failed attempts.

She make a LOT of money singing popera and the masses is asses and they will pay for it. However, you've never going to see this girl at the Met, Covent Garden, or actually in any B or C house. If she sang in my company, they would use her as a chorus girl, but never a role.
Can someone tell me in what language she sings Elgar's Nimrod .It is the ultimate English melody so should only be sung in english but it's anyone's guess what language she's singing , ever ,no matter what the song is , her diction is so poor.

John Joe Reyes If you read my comments on KJ carefully you will see my criticism aims not at all on this attractive lady as a person. She is no doubt a successfull cross over singer. But her permanent urge to sing the best known arias provokes a comparison with other performers. KJ violates the rule " cobbler, stick to your last". With this opinion I do not stand alone at all. Another prove is her lacking success in countries where "Cross over" is less accepted like Italy or Germany. If you love her as queen of cross over I`m with you, but not as an operatic star. Listen to the repertoire of Sissel from Norway to find the differences. I do accept any different opinion like yours, but take the "hate" in it away!

paulh9018 I have to agree! Another rendition of O mio Babbino Caro that I absolutely love is Renata Tebaldi's rendition. It is one of my favourites.
